What are good sealant and wax other than expensive brands like Meguairs and Zynol? Any reccommendations?
*
anyway..sealants are break in to different kind of sealant again. The most common will be polymer, then followed by acrylic and so on which i can't remember. Meguairs wax some is carbauna some is sealant(usually polymer). I think what u are referring to is Zaino, these are based on acrylic. There are other brands thats sound like Zaino such as Zymol. So read properly before you purchase. here is an example

http://www.ffcobra.com/magazine/waxtest.html

When comes to acrylic, there is two brands that always comes to mind, Zaino and Klasse. There are other brands which is acrylic base as well such as jeff jerret or something. But usually when they talk about acrylic base, Zaino and Klasse will always be the main choice.

Please do correct me if my info was wrong.

before wax. You must wonder why? sweat.gif . If you put wax first, then the sealant can't bond to the surface area coz oredi got wax. Some go until sealant then they stop. No need to add carbauna wax unless u wan the car to look super wet, depth look.

1)deep wash
2)clay
3)deep wash again
4)Paint cleaner (step1)
5)Paint Polish (step2)
6)Sealant
7)Carnuba Wax / Gold Class Wax(make sure this doesn't contain cleaners)

then u need to continue use step 7 to maintain. If you skip step 7, then use step 6 to maintain.

for silver or bright cars, just stick with sealant, M21, NXT..and etc. One reason is bright color cars can't play much on wet look which carbauna provides. if u wan to be easy, just go for NXT, if budget then go for permaglass

Hi Bro,

Thanks for the link that show Zaino is somewhere there on the top. biggrin.gif

Perhaps you could have been mistaken with Zaino waxes. Zaino waxes are polymers based.

What polymers does?
Polymers are substances whose molecules have high molar masses and are composed of a large number of repeating units. Polymer sealant work by bonding with the car paint and not slapping something on top of the paint surface.

Can polymers be layered?
Yes. Polymer can do layering method.

We do encourage all end user to layer the car with Zaino Wax to give its best result.(recommendation: up to 3 layers of Z-2Pro or Z-5Pro).
Note: Result may be vary if the surface preparation is not properly done . Good Surface Preparation is the most important step not to be missed.

Regards

REad that sonus offers an acrylic spray to go together with the klasse sealant but its not available here nor s'pore.

Can i mix some of the sealant with water for quick spray touch up ? Some ppl do it but i'm not sure of the exact way eg. whats the proportion like.
*
klasse singapore got sell. sonus what u can do is, mix the SG with water then spray. but IMHO, i would still prefer to wax the SG direct.

DC1..is wipe then wipe off, you do not have to wait for it to haze
DC2..you need to work the product onto the paid, as in keep rubbing until the residue is gone.
DC3.. wipe..wait dry wipe off.

hope i m correct on this

Hi, a question... should car detailing start when we get our new car??

or wait for 2 years only start car detailing?

ppl say car detailing should not be applied on new car as this may damage the paint. is this true?
*
IMHO..it depends. Sometime before they(salesman) deliver the car to you, they will sent the car for detailing first. But for me, i will still send the car for detailing. New cars but the condition where they store your car already have sufficient time to season the paint. The only time that you shouldn't detail the car is when the paint is still fresh, you need to wait around 3-4 weeks down the road for the paint to cure. Do correct me if i m wrong on this.

detailing may included polishing...
usually polishing not recommended for new paint, no point to remove paint layers since the paint is still new...
*
new paint doesn't mean it look great and feel great and with protection ma. sweat.gif . Usually new cars when send for detailing job, they won't use heavy cutter polishing. Just a normal paint cleaner and some light polishing will do the job, no clear coat paint will be removed. Detailing doesn't necessary mean will remove the layers ler tongue.gif ..just my 2cent

oic... so detailing can be done on new cars la??? it is better as it provide additional protection to the paint??? by doin this, the ori paint can be protected??
*
thats is my IMHO lar, as long it is not on fresh paint from painting garage. For new cars, the cars has been under the sun/run/daylight/night and so on. The paint should be cured by then, so there is no problem doing a light detailing job on it. The reason why new fresh paint are not advisable to polish and seal is because u need to the paint to breath and cure first, if you seal it before it is cured then u might have a rough surface, like pimple or some sort. Do correct me if i m wrong on this.

hi, i am using PG sealant polymer.

question is that - can it be used frequently? will the paint be damaged if used frequently?
*
PG sealant polymer is safe to use frequently but just make sure when you apply it sealant doesn't get into black trim areas.

Don't polish too many times as it will cut away your clear coat everytime you polish. Try washing using 2 bucket system & dont use normal cloth to wipe. Use microfibre cloth only.
*
its a myth. it depends how strong is you polish that you are using,

That is no myth. Clear coats are usually about 0.5mm thick. Polishing removes a layer (otherwise how do you think they remove the swirl marks and scratches) and the most a paint job can endure in a life time is less than 10. If you go full detailing that really removes a very thick layer to return the car to showroom condition, the most you can do is about 3 times before the clearcoat becomes too thin.
*
thats is provided if you are using heavy cutter every time you send your car for detailing. IMHO, at the end of the day it still depends what polishing they use, it may be a DC, DACP, glaze and etc. A good example is scratchx(polish), it removes fine scratches, light swirls and blemishes and is clear coat safe. This is just a light polish with fillers, hence it is safe. Swirls marks can still be temporary solve with fillers/glazes(safer), you do not need to cut/remove the clear coat everytime.
