Car Detailing Restoring Dead paint & oxidized head lamp Malaysia Car Detailing Guru k
there are always 3 way we learn
1stly by see-ing
2ndly by hear -ing
3rdly lastly seeing & hearing ....... Plus hands on..... a lesson of a life time

Many call I answered a day is due to car dead paint, oxidized, swirls, scratches - polish, compound, polish wax???? aka Paint correction
Head lamp blurred, turning yellow...how to POLISH aka restored?

The million dollar question always ask.....How?

its a new year car detailing hands on clinic with KC's again...it is out of the largest turn up clinic, over 30 participants & 3 new rotary owner...congrats

1 out of 3 patient
10 years single coated paint -
user posted image
heavily oxidized, lacks of defination & clarity..soon turning to matt finish..

2 out 3 patient
5 years old Myvi - head lamp charred - turn yellowish - aka oxidized
as the onwer has been sending to polish every year since the first year

3 out of 3 patient
206 - Peugeot - Discover- rear hood pain heavily oxidized & severe water marks...paint starting to etch & crack under close up observation

How to Repair Oxidized Cloudy Headlights
my version in 3 minutes

as eye is the window to our soul, so does the headlamp is the eye to a car.... often we judge the car basing on the headlamp,
usually it will cost a bomb to replace them... in regards of whether the car make from perodua to porsche...as I have share in my prevous blog

1st restoring work
a barely 5 years old Myvi - head lamp charred - turn yellowish - aka oxidized

she has been polish every years since after the first year

shall we hire doc headlamp?
modern car head lamp are commonly made of compression-moulded or injection moulded plastic,
2 factor contributing to such oxidations,
firstly the roadside foam wash (harsh chemicals & sponge use during washes) often this sponge soaked & filled with dirt, grim and sand that is not wash away became - TA DA sand paper) try to send for just one wash on just detail black car and check out the finishing
this is the 2 most thrased exterior part of the car (our halogen uses heat the filament to a greater degree create light during night use -Reflector optics) and sun during the day..and combine with the roadside sand paper wash..ta da.. it is just like scrapping off the UV resistance protector, worst still if it is Projector (polyellipsoidal) with a High-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps

With just optimum Hyper spray compound with optimum double sided wool pad for deeper correction - at 1500 speed 4 passes

or optimum Hyper spray polish with optimum double sided foam pad for for removing the lighter correction -at 1500 speed 4 passes

conclusion
as a Detailer of DIY home detailer..you need to know how much to removed & what is & not to be removed.....ask it shall be given seek & you shall find

check it out with just
OHSC (optimum hyper spray compound) + OPT DBL SIDED wool pad + passes at 1500 rpm in just 3 minutes

and i promise to look into his severely oxidized paint

this ride always expose the rear back, as his car porch only allows to cover that much...resulting bad oxidation as the rear hood

unless you like me...used to have 80 meter running cable down to rob my car....but after some times...i felt worthless & pointless....as it dont bring much paint correction....till I try onr...clay + Optiseal...detailing without machine & water seems quite achievable now

This ride probably damaged during transit, long way from Europe to Asia, dust, rain, salty water breeze, contaminants mostly found at the port also by some of the common threats bird bombs, industrial fall our, hail damage, etc etc.etc.

Most of the time the dealer did a "quickie fix" - but this apparently dealer did more than he should!
Imagine "the smell and look of a new " would and definitely deter you from ripping it apart , but usually ended with more tragedy

Must it be every once a while that some if not every brand new ride must arrive with damages and ended up repaired by some untrained detailer/car wash guys because ROI or budget constrain .

1. after taping non affected area (3-4 ply of taping)
2. SANDING begin Lube with ONR (invest in a sanding backing plate - i trim in smaller for these curvy areas)
2a. Begin with - 1500 grit
2b. followed with - 2000 grit
2c. Finish off with -2500 grit

tried the following on my Black Lexus IS250 with Optimum products.
Clay bar with MGs

LC Orange Pad with Optimum hyper compound on DA speed 6
LC White Pad with Optimum hyper polish on DA speed 4

MG W7006 wool pad with Optimum hyper compound on Rotary 1500RPM
LC White pad with Optimum hyper polish on DA speed 4

both setup did not yield any resulting in deminishing the micro swirls. I tried all pressured and non pressured way as i compound them, I still cant get any mirror finishing result.
I feel like going for MG 205

Hi KC, would be good if you are in Brisbane!
Detailing here cost a fortune at least $500 ($1500 rm)
Curious though on my issue, the pad that I used are brand new pads.

On a DA do you reckon I should use speed 6 on compound and with heavy pressure? And polishing on speed 3/4 with light / no pressure.

If this doesn't help, I'm getting the optimum polish pad to be used on rotary or get swirl x to try, last resort on M205?

I know
everywhere the same buddy

as nobodys does is better than yrself...since u need to groom yr car often...learn & master the skill in patience
