What is best shampoo?

Only how you wash it, of course what you use do matter, but I don't there is such thing as the best.

^^^agree with the above.

Any shampoo from a well established brand are good. I've tried Meg's Gold Class, NXT, Shampoo Plus, Hyperwash and Ultimate Wash & Wax. They are all decent shampoos, but each has individual 'specials'. Cleaning strength, level of gloss left after wash, no glossing agent, lubrication, etc. What are you looking for?

You may try Optimum ONR.

1 small cup and 2 gallon of water is all what you need. Gloss, maybe. But water beading is there.

This fler is the distributor, spend sometimes to read up. Optimum No Rinse Car Wash

Of course there are others that work similar, so far those cannot be found from local hardware shop.

Mothers at autopolishine. But I think they've been out of stock for quite a while now. Carguys also have them and they're at Klang, but haven't dealt with them before.

sifu sifu sekalian,
gonna be detailing my new ride real soon with all the meguairs stuff that i bought. more newbie questions coming up smile.gif

1) For dilution of the UWW shampoo, its 2 ounce in 2 gallons of water. is there an easier way to measure 2 gallons of water? I read on autogeek, Mike Phillips uses a rules to mark a 5 gallon pail at 6inches. is this applicable to the usual 5 gallon pails that we get over here? Appreciate if sifus over here can share some tips & tricks tongue.gif

2) Is it necessary to have a grit guard? I've never seen an actual one in the flesh (or plastic tongue.gif). Does anyone here use it? would like to know how big is it and which pail will it fit in.

3) Would appreciate if the sifus here can advise on how to wash the body paint panels on the inside of the car (on the door step and the area where the door hinges are). in my current ride, i just wipe with a wet cloth for the door step. The door hinges area i usually dont touch.

4) Is it advisable to clay a car after the suds has been rinsed off or is it better to dry the car first before claying. the meguair's videos are showing a dry car while others seem to deem it unnecessary.

5) How do you guys normally maintain your wipers and rubber linings? I have the Ultimate Protectant that I intend to use on the rubber linings, but I'm not sure if I can use it on the wipers.. tongue.gif

thanks in advance for all advice given smile.gif

After moving to an apartment with an outside parking, I became lazy in washing my car as I have minimal access to water access and proper washing location...

Last weekend, I went back to my parents' place and had a good clean up!
1. Wash 2BM with NXT Shampoo + Meg's MF mitts
2. Clayed with PG No. 3
3. Tar remover aerosol spray
4. Soft99 Chrome can Cleaner Wax
5. PG Polymer Sealant

My old waxes are unusable (i think) since they have been in storage without usage for 2 years during my study break. I guess all my NXT 1.0 Tech Wax, Meguiars M21 2.0, Megs GC Liquid Wax, Klasse Twins AIO + SG can throw already LOL...

happy with the beading after the car kena rain late evening and no watermark this morning though it rained last night..

smooth to the touch and looks pretty ok i guess for products worth RM70:)

do you have weight balance at home?

put the bucket on the balance. then fill up water until X kg. (1 L = 1 Kg)
then you mark with a permanent marker where the water level is.

(my bucket is translucent, so I mark on the outside)

Just to share, I use 90 ml (about 3 oz) shampoo = 12 L

2) Is it necessary to have a grit guard? I've never seen an actual one in the flesh (or plastic tongue.gif). Does anyone here use it? would like to know how big is it and which pail will it fit in.

would be REALLY good if your car is a daily driver.

3) Would appreciate if the sifus here can advise on how to wash the body paint panels on the inside of the car (on the door step and the area where the door hinges are). in my current ride, i just wipe with a wet cloth for the door step. The door hinges area i usually dont touch.

I use a separate mitt/sponge because this part usually traps stones and heavy dirt.

4) Is it advisable to clay a car after the suds has been rinsed off or is it better to dry the car first before claying. the meguair's videos are showing a dry car while others seem to deem it unnecessary.

wash
rinse suds
clay
rinse
dry

Why its dry on their videos is that the car was probably inspected thoroughly before doing claying. OR they had just removed tar from the car.

5) How do you guys normally maintain your wipers and rubber linings? I have the Ultimate Protectant that I intend to use on the rubber linings, but I'm not sure if I can use it on the wipers.. tongue.gif

Dont touch the wipers except with a damp cloth and wipe off the dirt.
Yes with the protectant.
