Thanks KC for the 1 gallon of ONR and also the quick demo yesterday rclxms.gif
What I'll do is wash and clean it properly, clay if rajin, then wax it or apply any sealant of your choice. Treat it like how you treat the body paint and it wont turn yellow.
I'd give WD40 a go if you have some at home. Make sure you rinse properly after that and you'll be fine.

Thank s buddy thank you for saying it all...your ride really well detail, so much so i dare not use it as demo

rims is actually coated with paint - pls do not send to car wash & allowed them to use acid to clean the wheels...very corrosive

Its ok bro dadurtyz
you have to know yr is a DD (daily driven car) not show room car.... at times it is pretty unavoidable..

change your microfibers 3-4 times a year ( try not to use mitt, if need too, pls wash it clean)

lets meet up & take a look to see how i can guide u to detail yr own

keep up yr effort & dont gives up....many year back i got a round of key scratched on my ride, so sad couldnt sleep for 2 weeks...many suggested to repaint - i did not due to some reason instead i picked up paint correction

thank God i didnt repaint - cos original paint is baked under 300degrees celcius for 3 hours - for each coat from primer - colour & clear coat - but repainted baked only at 57degrees only for 25 minutes :-( it wouldnt last

Good news is you are aware now - keep it up

Hi KC, been following your detailer blogspot quite a while and I really envy your skill.

I've been using meguairs since 2005 and I'd like to purchase the one like yours which I believe cheaper but got awesome results!

can you recommend which is the best product+pads suitable for these task?

a) paint correction/orange peel effect on newly paint job?
b)paint correction/orange peel effect on newly paint job?

my target is to reduce as much as possible my newly paint car without the need of wet sanding then protect it once every 3-6 months to maintain its beauty

Thanks
*
paint correction/orange peel effect on newly paint job? Sent it back where yr job was done badly finish - you paid for a job & never ask for oranges

paint correction/orange peel effect on newly paint job?Never ever wax a newly painted coat

for it takes about 3 months for your paint to get cured...check out what meguiars says...

BTW many believe in Typical malaysian weather need longer to cure , as it is warm - paint remain soft

wet sanding - is fun - just like drifting - a slight skid - ta ta

a coat of wax will be good buddy - washing yr car weekly & waxing it monthly

and the best protection one can gives to yr newly painted coat is ONR - as it has polymer & dirt get harder to stick on

the orange doesnt that bad. almost or more or less like the OEM paint coming out from the factory. I just want to make it like in your own picture in #4. i guess i need to wait a little longer >3 months for the paint to cure. therefore I need your advice which product that u can recommend for a new paint? correct me if I'm wrong

a) detailing spray ->Optimum Instant Detailer
b) polish & swirl remover ->Optimum Compound or Optimum Poli-Seal or Optimum Polish -New Formula?
c) wax & sealant ->Optimum Car Wax or Optimum Car Wax or SmartWax - 100% Pure Carnauba Based Wax & Polish?

Hi Buddy Eddyman

it will be good to meet up & view yr paint together, to see how can we equipe to to detail on yr own

detailing spray - use 2 ounce of ONR in a 500ml = TADA QD liow

to remove swirls ...Hmmmm subjective - if it is white or silver nobody can see - no need to trouble
others - try OHSP - opt hyper spray polish + optimum double sided pad - TADA *better with rotary ( more consistent & better results)

wax - sealant- the best, effortless & efective

Optiseal - so affordable - 1 bottle 8 ounce (4 times applications ) can last for 10 years

OCwax so effortless & effective = i ve got a lady follower who wash her car & wax weekly without fail & results blink blink

yeah kc's it's daily ride, but 24hour always park at shade place, inside mall.
and i believe those fine scratches appear during wash my car and wipe dry-it.
kc's very interested to join your class/training, i need alot to learn from sifu, pm me date/time. since i need to apply my offday to travel from melaka to KL  notworthy.gif

and one more thing, what u mean not to use mitt? i need to use mf cloth to soaping my car kc's?
*
no worries buddy - will try to arrange one in Melaka (kindly get 10 participants & venue) we will get down to train you

Mitts is good but you have to clean properly , as it dirt & finer sands get traps beneath the wool strands...& when it is worn out (pls change)

as for me i would prefer MF - cheap & easily wash & affordable to replace (3 sets ) a year

nothing last for clear coat cleanning - as when we do it so often - we actually creates friction - resulting swirls

best of all - find some thing u like & do it - effortlessly

QUOTE(tchtax @ May 27 2011, 12:47 PM)
Not sure what I can use if I don't use a MF mitt , you referring to sheepskin mitt, KC?
*
wash thoroughly & make sure it is well clean before next use - lower area or rims pls use a separate material

cos u dont want to trap these contamination into your next wash

recommended to use gird guard when wash

QUOTE(m|ng @ May 30 2011, 09:43 AM)
Guys. how often can I clay my car? i know this has been asked before.
reason why I'm asking this again is because I have a car that's parked out 24/7 next to a busy main road. So there's a lot of pollution that bonds to the paint.

Every month when I wax my car, i'd have to use a cleaner wax first before the wax and the pads will surely turn charcoal black. It's mainly on the flat surface like the bonnet, roof and boot that's the problem areas where the doors and the bumpers are less of a problem.
*
bro clay only twice a year in regards where it is park
as it is aggressive if it is done wrongly - making sure you have enough lube

the best any owners can give their car is a weekly wash & a monthly wax- my car has been parking openly since 11 yrs ago - no prob when it is well protected

cleaner wax is not a prefect solution - cos most of it contain an element where u can clean light stains - petrol base - same time the wax on it dont really last, the blackish stains is the older residues oils...the roof & hood is the mostly affected area to sun & rain - where it is always contaminated where the side just slides down

imagine cleaner that can remove stain - can also remove wax ma- the reason it can becos of its cleaning power in it...

we all work & toil (labor with sweat & blood) - day in month out - splash more $$$$ in maintenance, road tax - insurance, parking, cuci kereta - shampoo - more sweat & blood for those who take care of their car

but one good news - you can detail, we can stop others whacking up our ride

learn the proper way - from the start (now is the best) wash - clay wax

Is cleaning wheels important in car detailing

Imagine if we have an expensive set of specially flown in wheels on our car, we'll want to give those wheels the proper maintenance as they need to stay good & making their look last. a fully clean wheels will make them look like a showroom condition
Sometimes wheel cleaning is quite a chore and can be very dangerous. without damaging them or ourselves, and without spending all day on them. Wheel detailing can be an easiest part to do or it can be a nightmare as well. Needless to say our feeling if we have our wheel damaged by these harsh chemical or got hurt by one before. Many detailers have always been deathly afraid of wheel acids. They are harsh products which are dangerous to the wheel and to you if used incorrectly cos is it really ACID! with a picture of skull & cross bones on it back label. Its eats away items in its path

user posted image
a damaged wheels

Also if you have ever spent 20 minutes trying to get ONE wheel clean, it’s extremely frustrating. So how can we make wheel cleaning safe, yet fast and effective?

is it necessary to use of acid or harsh cleaner inorder to gets our wheels cleaned?????
QUOTE
the reason why our  wheels damaged is “instant gratification”. Many detailers just want to spray a product on, and rinse it off, and expect to have wheels that look like new. This is a main reason for detailers to choose extremely harsh wheel cleaners and to barely dilute them. They figure the stronger the chemical, the better the wheels will come out. They also spray wheel cleaners on a very hot wheel. We all know that heated cleaning is better than cold cleaning, but in the case of wheels, a cool, wet wheel is what you need to begin with. The heat and dryness of a wheel will make the cleaner react far quicker and do its damage much faster. Also, because some detailers want to rush through the job, they spray “all 4 wheels” at once and let the product sit on them. This will also quickly lead to etched and damaged wheels. You need to be smart and realize this is not a good idea

Many wheel cleaner product are make of Hydrofluoric acid. This is one of the MOST dangerous form of acid in the makert. imagine just a 50% solution of Hydrofluoric acid can kill you if inhaled directly or is spilled on you. HF will only lightly burn your skin but the real problem comes later. It wants your bones! It seeks the calcium in your bones and in your blood! HF spilled on your skin may require calcium gluconate gel or an injection to replenish the calcium and ward off the effects those HF acid causes. Its calcium eating ability is why HF is a popular choice in concrete cleaners. and yet many car detailing shop (included road side car wash ) still using them

but as for me I rather choose safety.....quick & easily maintain

Good stuff, easy to buy but it is still acidic

Hot Rims Wheel Cleaner should NOT be used on polished aluminum, anodized aluminum wheel or uncoated magnesium wheels. or else ta da.....making sure u rinse off immediately

Make sure you know what the wheel is made out of or the coating that's on it before choosing a wheel cleaner, when in doubt pls call me

just be known
it contain - Phosphoric Acid - which they use as "rust remover" or "rust killer"
Hydroxy Acetic Acid use mainly in textile industry as a dyeing and tanning agent -but danger of it is - if inhale - Cough. Shortness of breath. Sore throat. if touches yr skin Redness. Pain. Serious skin burns. - esp eye (sharp pain & if ingested - Abdominal pain. Burning sensation. Shock or collapse. most of all is combustible.

OPC is the best multi purpose cleaner both safe for car clear coat paint(exterior) & same time for interior
so cost effective that - you can dilute to suits your need - clear coat safe - (so strong that it can degrease engine & so gentle - dilutes to clean leather)

best usage for removing stickers - bugs stains - birds dropping - wax residues - stains on plastic or vinyl

use neat or dilute 1:3 parts water for engine
dilute 1:3 or 1:5 parts water for interior - cleaning - leathers, vinyl, rubber plastic
dilute 1:5 or 1:8 parts water for exterior paint work - cleaning - best at removing bugs stains, rubber stains - wax residues on plastic, emblem cleaning

this is the only ultimate I ever need for car detailing - i never leave home to do any job without it

normally i use the pressured water machine that my father bought it, normally use at car wash place. i use the machine and wash my car, after that i use the car shampoo to wash using sponge. And then i use the machine to wash it off with a lower pressure(turn the pipehead). After everything is clean then i use a microfiber cloth and normal pipe water to rinse every part of my car to ensure no dirt left. Is it ok i using this way?
and 1 more question, can i wax my car few time a row? like,
first wax>clean>2nd wax>clean>3rd wax>clean?
Sorry for my noob question, after i bough a new car, i very well appreciate the car. so my question might be a bit troublesome =(

Wow that a cool guide. I like your blog, the way you explain with full of pics really make things clear.  smile.gif
and by the way i do waxing 1 layer almost every week, just that when holiday or have a day free then i might do it 3 layer waxing.  biggrin.gif
and yeah, do i really have to use the clay actually? coz normal i pressured wash>clean>pressured wash>wash>wipe.
never tried clay yet. so is it really have to use clay for a more cleaner process? i scare i might scratch my car because of my minor mistakes.  blush.gif
oh ya, by the way KC, where do you bought those car cleaning stuffs such as wax? coz i think i want to buy a more trust able brand wax and car wash liquid. any suggestion for wax brand and car wash liquid brand as well for the place to buy it, cant really find at cheras.

I think my wetsanding is "light and gentle" since I barely see any difference in minimizing the orange peel effect. some more using the DA. i think DA+wool cutting power is not good as to rotary+wool. what do you think KC? later i put the pics.

to be honest to remove the swirl from the wetsand using DA is pain in the ass. it takes forever to remove the scratch. the scratch is still lightly visible under strong light.

Got a pretty nasty looking  scrape at the fender. Any idea how to fix? Is painting over it the only option?

Hi sweet puff
Thanks for asking

if u got some power clean - spray on a little damp MF & slowly wipe it off - repeat as necessarily (as it is safe for clear coat) be careful of using some aggressive compound (which is so aggressive that u not only gonna remove yr transference but yr paint as well)

i reckon it is a paint transference - as you can have 2 colour base coat on yr blue paint...

not to worry - once you remove this transference - u may find some scuff - it is ok (the main thing is to remove this alien residue from yr paint coat

if u are not sure call me

Have fun buddy

Put your older clay to work,
moving on to clays, the outer coat contamination - lube with alien's juices

pls use a separate clay for wheels & body, as it is highly contaminated - with brake dust, asbestos & metal flakes from the rotor

In any case

every driver need to be very careful - where they park - esp in both very new building & very old building

this is a common parking where u r staying at condo's ....esp on top there is sewerage piping.....leaks

they have very heavy mineral deposit & our clear coat

Very porous - easily stained "eg" birds dropping - try to leave it & baked under the sun tata

Next tree saps - also tata esp mango's ma ma mia

Under aircond - when they service corrosive chemicals will be used - they are far far far too harmful

Lastly - a lot of hooligans - who like to teach u a lesson by giving u a their key ( they think also like mask of Zoro)

Our clear coat is the only protection you ever have & it is the best - but it is so thin as a news paper thickness will be easily damaged by these abrasive threat

bro i know how u feel, thats is the reason i started my detailing quest - in vain of finding help

at the end of the day after all my examples & hundreds of article written - is to fore warn, to help and guide for others .....& all my clinic is to equipe others to do it on their own

to find help - is hard to find _ esp physical ones - that's the reason of our existence

sharing the same passion with u

bro - look at this this way - that is just a flower in th whole garden - would u give up the whole garden for it????

just a spot & you got like 99 % left area of both interior & exterior that need yr care
