ok so i just went to get ultimate compound meguires..next nid to find time....smile.gif....well hope my lil experiment does bring me to somewhere...my only mission is to get rid of the holograms...one last question...do i need to clay first or i could just do right after a car wash?
*
dont get anything 1st - do not attempt with any compound for holograms ...esp OTC products...the issue with many DIY - car owners is they want to grab something over the counter & bring it home - ta da (what we call instant gratifications) 3in 1 kopi ke - tuang air panas & kacau

DONT waste yr $$$$ - all you need is to get the right stuff & do it the right way - when i started detailing - nobody shares with me - or give a dam or either that gives dam stupid tips - purposely to trick us, so that we will not success (otherwise they tutup kedai) - one of the so call megs detailing centre in Pandan jaya

that day onwards i told myself - whatever the kwai lo (international professional detailer) uses to detail a lambo or ferrari - i desire for it - so I got my what they have - & train up myself - when my Ferrari & lambo came i have what it takes - do u think i can get the stuff to detail from supermarket???

another this using compound in the wrong way - chances might - ended up with more haze than before

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

pls observe the general detailing step by step -

STEP 1 & 2 - wash then clay -

you may follow the guide here read more here

I only suggest you should come join me on 7 may (1st come 1st serve basis) & learn the full to detail & then go & detail the right way...

Added on April 23, 2011, 12:45 amonce preps is done - now I have a surface above free from contaminants - moving to paint corrections

- example - cars that always been wash by road side has this issue - SWIRLS - to prevent this wash your own car in the right way & good MF periodically change - otherwise half past six car wash - boss lu punya kereta manyak calar - apa macam - Mau polish wax ????!@#$%^&** - ended up like this

user posted image

I thought i saw some only but...badly & horrendously....

user posted image

swirls - aka spider webs

very visible fine line cut - is done only professionally - regular car wash damages!!!!

threats inflicted professional by car washes (or road side ones)
user posted image

SWIRLS is usually inflicted by our habits & the wrong way of handling washing , also techniques (wrong way of shampooing - circulating) & material used - such as sponges, worn out mitts/microfibers, drying cloth - cotton cloth - old rags, old t-shirts, jeans la....etcs...as our clear coat is only 2/1000th part of an inch

therefore I make it a point to change my Microfibers once every 3-4 months to prevent

STEP 3 - Part 1
after compounding - with OPTIMUM Hyper Spray Compound with LC Double sided wool

next
deep scratches & swirls on the hood - need to be compounded

plenty of swirls - before

Next issue Hologram from compounding

is always best to do from grounds up.. wash-clay-correction-seal.. smile.gif U cant go wrong with UC.. its a noob-proof product..  smile.gif

brands are not important. skill matters. whether is meguiars,optimum,3m or menzerma.. if u used wrongly, all will result in disaster. biggrin.gif

however, meguiars is the only OTC product we can find here.. which is an extremely sad case and consider to be gooe enough unless u r doin serious correction, then u need professional range.. Optimum now basically left KC brought in..
know ur paint condition, own skill n knowledge.. i learnt my skill from buying product first.. use liao few times, not good, sell away. cause dun have sifu to teach.. hahahaha
*
HI caprice you do not need to splash around trying out all OTC....stuff...just do some googling & see whats are some of the stuff other arena is using & how effective is it....and you will soon find out

a chinese saying that goes "I have plenty of swords at my back, but none of them are sharp"

so when you have found your sharp one - use it effectively & it will be sharper

----i started just like you ended up wasting lots of $$$
here but now i only need 5 of the optimum

you know which 5......btw do u have any machines? if not....is ther any plans? cos there are couple of real good machines is coming in to malaysia

Car wash and most car owners want an instant gratifying results - so much so - strong acid base - wheels cleaner are use often in this area - corrosive even to our skins & hands - threaten the wheel coat as prematurely worn down

TIPS
pls allow your wheel to cool down prior washing them - as not advise to threaten both extreme temperature -

Its just simply amazing...how effortless & easy to care for the most tedious / filthiness area....of our wheels, this is the most important place to begin for any car wash...(kindly allow your wheel to cool down prior washing, as at some extreme brake our rotor may get heated till 300 degrees or so) not i wait you wash the kind of thing

most of the wheel damages is done the wrong way of washing ...with aggressive cleaner with chemicals like degreaser as such found in wheels cleaners
impose danger to both our skin & inhalations....

I did a lot research normally before buying. cause wallet no money mah.. need to be cautious. biggrin.gif

And honestly, those reviews cant do much justification. For example, there are 4 products which I tried (based on reviews are good).. which to me isnt at all. and to the extent, I would say it is rubbish. half of these are OTC. the other half is non-OTC.

I will not disclose the brands though smile.gif

hi, just realize there is one good detailing thread over here.

I have been washing my car by myself for 2years+ now...

weekly wash meguiars gold class shampoo + MF clothes + 2 bucket method (one for shampoo fluid, another to clean MF clothes)

monthly (sometimes twice a month) wax using Meguiar M16 + sponge

3months/6months - Clay (PG clay) + Meguiar colorX + M16 + sponge

recently notice that under street lamp, there is a lot of swirls on the car surface sad.gif and plenty of watermarks too (dark color car)

would like to know any suitable way to rescue the situation?
I think it is getting more and more "sandy" feel on the car surface..(last week just done the clay+colorX+M16) and it took me the whole morning sweat.gif a lot
*
hi buddy
you happen to have a dark colour car like black- did you wash it usually under the sun or park in an industrial near by area??

if yes these are build up over years
to avoid this - do not wash yr car while is still HOT & especially under the SUN (driving to car wash with yr engine running?????????)

wax more often - sacrifice yr wax layer

water mark is a tough one to detail
among the paint problem this is on the same list of the scratch - even swirls is easier to correct

the problem here in Malaysia is this

there is lots of rain & heat - both rain droplets will be baked into the paint with the heat of the sun - try to place a bottle of mineral water on your leather seats & lets the sun glare thru - ta da - yr leather will get burnt

now these droplets will be a magnifying glass effect on yr paint

the least ones can be polish off with polisher -

the severe ones - need compounding- etched into your clear coat

like this - so hard to even be captured by compact camera
user posted image

plenty of water stains - and happen to be on the sunroof glass -

2 issue - hard water is bad - to make is worst is on the glass - the hardest surface of the car

thanks for the details reply.
Yes, it is a black car. I only wash my car by myself and I never wash it under the sun. Erm...recently, my neighbour just did some renovation, it did make my car covered in a layer of dust doh.gif after that, i wash it, still feeling the surface is very sandy/rough. Previously it is quite smooth.
Okay..i would like to know more of car detailing too smile.gif
And i would like to get some ONR since my washing shampoo is almost depleted. smile.gif

hwo can i know how many optimum product need to mix with how many water?
*

it has new polymers that offer greater lubricity and higher gloss, this multi-purpose product that serves as a rinseless wash, a quick detailer, and a clay lubricant, depending on how much water you add. You don’t have to be a chemist to formulate your own excellent car care products; just follow the directions on the bottle! Plus, this product does not require rinsing. conserve water and still get your vehicle beautifully clean!

Here’s how it works:

* Add 1 ounce of No Rinse Wash & Shine to 2 gallons (about 7.5 litres) of water to make an excellent no rinse car wash. its polymers encapsulate dirt and cause it to drop to the bottom of the bucket. And it leaves your vehicle super slick, like it was just waxed!

* Add 1 ounce to wash water made with your regular car wash. No Rinse Wash & Shine’s advanced polymers and lubricants offer more surface protection and slickness than ordinary car soap alone. It acts as a water softener and conditioner to improve the quality of the water that touches your vehicle to provide the ultimate safe wash.

* Add 2 ounces of No Rinse Wash & Shine to a gallon of water to make a super-slick clay bar lubricant. Wet the surface of your vehicle to provide a slippery protective layer beneath Opti-clay. After you’ve clayed each section, simply wipe it dry. This the cheapest & most effective solution for clay lubricant

* Add 8 ounces of No Rinse Wash & Shine to a gallon of water ( 1 ounce to a 500ml) to make an excellent quick detailer. Fill up a spray bottle with this mixture and use it to clean and shine your vehicle, just as you would use a traditional detailer. The proprietary polymers bond to the paint surface to protect it from abrasion and micro-marring

just one bottle will Shine & replace 4 things - such as wash, clay lube, QD & hydrophobic spray wax

what are the replacement product for "Optimum OPTI Seal" , "Optimum Power Clean"? i want the common brand which i can get from jussco or ace hardware shop.

there is no replacement for "Optimum OPTI Seal" , "Optimum Power Clean" & not sold OTC....

they are simple amazing invention
eg.....
A multi purpose cleaner both safe for car clear coat (exterior ) & same time for interior
so cost effective that - you can dilute to suits your need - clear coat safe -

best usage for removing stickers - bugs stains - birds dropping - wax residues - stains on plastic or vinyl

use neat or dilute 1:3 parts water for engine
dilute 1:3 or 1:5 parts water for interior - cleaning - leathers, vinyl, rubber plastic
dilute 1:5 or 1:8 parts water for exterior paint work - cleaning - best at removing bugs stains, rubber stains - wax residues on plastic, emblem cleaning

this is the only ultimate you ever need for car detailing - i never leave home without it
imagine those days when i use Megs

APC la, Super degreaser for engine la, degreaser for hard cleaning area like emblems, wheel cleaner la, Leather cleaners, interior cleaners ...bla bla bla & worst still i lfet home without one of them !!!!!! headache!!!!! so many products & so many different instructions la
caution- must use with care cos is a non clear coat safe - use with great care

opti seal is not just another sealant - but one that will protect not only yr paint but plastic, vinyl , mirror , esp front wind screen (safety + does not jagged yr silicon wiper - as it cos hundreds of $ to replace) easy to apply (again 10-15 per car ) only need 3-4 times a year + cos effective (cos this bottle last 10 years applications) - just spray on , wipe off & walk away

all i did was wash, clay and section by section UC.....i took a few pics under the sun by my camera was unable to capture the comparison...but all i can say is that this product definitely do what it said it was suppose to do....

each area i did like a few spins with a foam pad and thats it...not even a second time.....and all the holograms and swirls are gone...

well of course the results are still not as good as bro KC does with he's projects.....but it does get rid of all the annoying spider webs and holograms....to achieve dept and gloss...i still think BRO KC is the god.....cant wait for he's detailing workshop next week....

HI Aliluva
all new cars come with 2k paint - means clear coated (there is an additional layer of clear lacquer on yr paint) the best that any car owners can do for their investment -

PLS DO NOT SEND FOR ANY ROAD SIDE CAR WASH

learn to do it yourself - a weekly wash & monthly WAX is the best

careful where you park - not under trees - esp mango who has tree saps, blocking others - gotten key scratched!!

Bird dropping - wipe of immediately, as it is acidic & your coat is porous

lastly dont worry so much - when you have done all the above

for more 123 or ABC guide pls read at here

What is best speed for detailing and all the machine is DA ?

I think I don't repaint that part before

I didn't get ur PM
*
pls meet me
i will asses yr paint

DA is dual action the cheapest in Malaysia is about 7++ close to 800 (cant do severe rids & swirls or severe damage paint restorations - as it is oscilating - that where u need a rotary -
the same amount of money i can get a makita which is all you need for the rest of your life

we did 3 test with 2 diffrent machine mainly ROTARY vs DA
what we did was to segregate a few areas to test out the product & how it react over certain machine reaction

1st area for waxing with rotary - how road side polish wax job is to be done

2nd area with Dual Action polisher

our pro - detailer

3rd contestant on rotary - with optimum hyper spray compound

RESULTS REVEALING

1st area Wax with china make rotary???
user posted image
hologram was visible once we remove the wax

2nd area consumer range product

after
user posted image
visible cuts is still there

moving on the 3rd area -done with optimum hyper spray compound through out till finishing - with makita
wool - cutting pad- polishing pad - finishing pad

one product finish - OPTIMUM HYPER SPRAY POLISH

I am very blessed - to be received some lab test product from Doc G, Optimum USA

user posted image

another innovative product by Doc G,
user posted image

optimum double sided pad & double sided wool - freshly flown at the right time for this detail

moving to paint issue - some minor paint pigmentations & undefined paint (paint with no clarity or definitions)

user posted image

more swirls accumulated over the past decade

the most wonderful part of the innovation is - there is only 2 steps polish and finish

1st with wool & then foam pad

unlike my last detail & all the other - cut with wool, the continue with cutting pad, then polishing pad & finishing pad...and see for yourself

Thanks to KC i've gotten addicted to detailing !

Just got my products from him a few days back and i've already did claying and etc..

He is a very knowledgeable guy and he isn't selfish cause he shares his experiences and knowledge ! Real nice guy to talk to !

Hehe you should know who am i smile.gif

Bro btw , could you recommend me a lasting and silky finish polish ( liquid or paste ) nothing more than 80bucks ? Currently using Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell Paste Polish w/ Black & Decker kp600 - sorry no money to go buy a rotary and proper polish yet had to work with what i had in the house hehe..

For the wax layer i'll be using OCW , should be okay right if i get a nice layer of Polish under the OCW ? smile.gif

If the layer of wax has some sort of stain such as didn't dry and it touched water what do i do ? Re-apply wax ? or Re-apply polish and wax ?

Thanks.

hahahaha

i am not sure - but roughly i can guess, as i meet quite a few people & answers dozen of calls a day
thanks buddy for your kind words - really appreciate yr encouragement

for once i was like u in quest of the knowledge & non of the car wash guys willing to share.....& i brought lots of OTC any newly came out stuff by trial & error ....an expensive lesson - so much so - products was left to spoilt - as over due storage.....be very smart - esp starting from nxt month , as Govt has hinted that the cost of living with me escalating - sky soaring

now spending wisely & thriftily - frugal if possible, exp from a father of 3 rclxub.gif

i am glad you finally gave yourself a change to learn car detailing & took a big step of faith - so much so u leap over yr fear & into yr success

car detailing should not be burdensome & expensive - i find real joys in caring for it, as I work and toil for it....just did some major repair - doh.gif

Congrats on yr successful claying - and you finally managed to remove all the coarse like stains on yr upper paint

now u need to protect it with wax, may it be paste or liquid or spray - the key is regularly....not once 2 years or lifetime

For it takes a regular regiment of discipline to maintain yr car

I would use Opti seal -
the one sealant - one that protect not only yr paint but plastic, vinyl , mirror , esp front wind screen (safety + does not jagged yr silicon wiper - as it cos hundreds of $ to replace) easy to apply (again 10-15 minutes per car ) only need 3-4 times a year + cos effective (cost of a roti naan per applications) - just spray on , wipe off & walk away last 3-4 months

then top on OCW - another 5 minutes spray on & wipe off - then walk away - so so easy & effortless

Lets organise a LYN car detailing TT next month & we will get u on the real thing - paint correction
