yes - you are right - so does you need to polish or compound off like capicher says!!

Dear all,

Sorry to trouble everyone here, I would like to ask a question. The picture is at the link below (sorry I don't know how to upload photo) -
http://img851.imageshack.us/i/p1120296.jpg/

My question is, is it advisable to use this item to sweep off water from my car after washing?
Will it strip wax?

Thank you so much for your time

I did my silver car via an authorised Mxxxxxxxx detail shop. 3 to 4 layers coated on it but frankly speaking I do not like the outcome. The paint turns 'sandly feel' in less than 2 months. What I do to preserve the smooth surface is coat it up by 'Pxxxx Sxxxx' once or twice a month.

Hi Buddy
thanks for bringing up - 2 issue i would like to clear up here

There is no such myths of 3-4 "layer coat " or 3 or 4 steps
(what ever malaysia car wash / polish centre) claims -
No matter how many layers of waxs, sealant, glass coating & bla bla bla - the 1st layer than counts, as it is the touch base - try applying 58 layer of wax on yr car & check it out in 30 days time, - you would find more contaminants than ever before

worst still - most car polish uses rotary to wax????????? which i cant find in any label of wax- where it specify - best use - rotary at speed 6 & 12 kg of pressure with rapid kung fu strokes to polish wax the car & resulting- buffer trails -

Lets clear this myths once & for all
there are 5 steps towards car detailing, if you were to check out in Meguairs USA forum (in which i was trained , cyberly) - :-

Meguiar's 5-Step Paint Care Cycle
1st step car WASH - wash with PH balance shampoo

2nd step -CLEAN body preparation work - Claying (to remove outter contaminations)

3rd Paint correction - POLISH , Compounding for heavy correction (removing heavy swirls, holograms - inflicted by previous untrained detailer(car polish centre), minors scratches ...etc) then Polishing it to the gloss, glaze

4th protection - either wax (NXT,M21 or Opt car wax) or coating (eg opticoat)

5thly - maintainance ( a weekly wash & a monthly wax)

...and that not the end

but a dawn of a new world ( a new begining)
I taught & train the owner to care for his car - by a regiment of maitainance

eg - a daily sweeps, weekly mop is far better than once a year spring cleaning -

weekly wash by 3 MF & ONR ( just a 20 mins) a great way to begin this great journey is - a humble car wash, that we does it so often & damages built up over times

monthly wax OCWax ( only 5 minutes for the entire car) - use gentle hands & left to right strokes to minimized - swirls inflicting back to the paint (be careful with paste wax & esp use with dirty or unwashed sponge pads - transference of scratches too)
clay twice a year only

stay tuned for the complete write up soon

Lets rise up & take back our position ( I authorized you...& trust me you dont need any authorized person to handle your car) others does it for $$ but you do it out of your heart PASSIONATELY - at the end of the day every owners is the true car detailers for their car

YOU can make difference today for your car

Thank you

if you have done a prolong PG sealant - let me know our results? dont be shock

Less is more - refering to the blade you used - as capiche mentioned - even a slight worn off micro fibers (suppose to be soft & tender ) but it can still smear the paint -

Check it out yrself - if you have friend who has a black car & ask him to use the blade for a couples of weeks - ta da will comes out

our actual car paint is coated with clear lacquer - and it is with harsh washing acidic only 2 mil of an inche (divide 1 inche into 1000 part & 2 part is the thickness of yr Clear Coat)
then imagine
what happend when it is constant bombarded detergent la, good morning the terry towel & blade la

given a little bit time - prematurely worn off

My 11 yr old kenari paint still glow & my 2 face paint still rocks - all because i do my own washing & now with ONR it is so effortless - ask those who has tried them........

I guess the key is thoroughly preparing the surface for LSP to achieve good results. For final result did you use Instant Detailer?

Hi Buddy'
You too can make a different - start today & stop letting other abusing yr ride

LSP is JARGON & HEAVY is just a simple wax, either u patse or spray - i choose OCWAX & in 5 minutes - ta da

ID is a good alternative for OCWax

most of all it is with yr TLC - detailing comes alive

Actually i was referring the best wax I've been use now. Their got a lot range product and brand out there and meguiar's its not a Top product.
But it good for consumer
yes & no
it all depend what you are looking at
I started with them, mostly consumers range but to get to where a detailer are - far from it, cos they do have Professional range - thats where my many gallons & $$$ gone

it was good - until i discover OPTIMUM NO RINSE WASH, then curious & tried all 5 OPT & got hook on to it

I used to spend hours weekly to wash & wax my car, many hours more to post in meguairsonline.com..(i think I have the most posting from Malaysia or even ASIA...hahahahahahahahaha) .......after some time when our family multiplies- i can afford that luxury time liow,...

many detailers wants an instant gratifications & ended up many who uses super aggressive chemicals & harsh cleaners - look at the way car wash, cleaning the rims - in no time the coat will fail

Now ................
1.I can easily wash in 20 minutes
2.seal 3-4 times a year in 10 minutes
3.wax 5 minutes - so easy I can do it anytime & every week to make my car feel like just detail weekly
4.one Leather protectant for all interior, leathers, vinyl, rubber & plastic & best of al it is not a dressing but UV protectant
5.Power clean - the only one cleaners for the entire car & house hold too - dilutes for all you need, so strong to be an engine degreaser & gentle enough to clean even car clear coat & leathers. great for removing birds dropping, tars, stubborn stains & safe for you & gentle to yr skin

Now i have every reason to spend quality time with my little ones & wife - with this goes along way......

only required 5 & all is professional range, unlike others who has recommend you 25 of their range , the consumer la, Gold class la, NXT la, Pro la

Hi all, do you normally use quick detailer or quick wax after washing? I know they have different functions, but which do you prefer? I use the detailer and it brings out a great shine.
41148946[
QD is generally used for claying purposes, inbetween for polish & compounding - a quick wipe down
Quick wax is wax - it will definately has more car carnuba in it

but both very very dear le - I only need to dilute 2 oz of ONR into 500ml water to be a QD
so cool that you can use keep a bottle at yr trunk (as it not a solvent base compare to the above 2) - to be yr QD, to clean yr paint whenever you want & esp birds dropping - that is so acidic

with clay it is the Safest & even you can use it to remove all tars, bugs stains as well (be careful when u use TAR removers, very very careful - read labels - they are corrosive)

like playing with fire le

Unfortunately, I did not snapped any photos. The wax spots that I'm facing is like sort of whitish wax which has not been buffed off in my case.

Anyway, here are my waxing process:

1) using a dry foam applicator and dip a very minimum amount of wax by going through a complete circle of the can. And yes, I dipped it by using the edge of the foam applicator.

2) apply the wax in a circular overlapping motion with little amount of pressure being applied and work it out till it's almost non-visible.

3) proceed to the next panel and followed by step 1) & step 2). usually, I would be able to cover my car within the 10 mins timeframe and then immediately buff off the whole car.
Oh btw, I'm applying the wax on a warm surface.
bro

all your 1-2-3 steps is correct

but I'm applying the wax on a warm surface. & you will leave lots of wax residues, always always wash yr car in cool shaded place & only apply in cool place

avoid plastic trims & uncoated vinyls too

unless you do an ONR wash & OC wax
cos i can wipe off immediate after onr passes & OCWAX does not leave any wax residues on plastics & vinyl trims

have fun in detailin ya & you do not need to slave for yr car but enjoy yr journey ya

Hello sifus again

Just want to check with you fellas. Let's say you notice a medium scratch on your bonnet from 4 feet away, (probably from a cat) , would you use Megs ScratchX or M105 to remove it by hand. I don;t have a DAP or PC..just using the normal yellow polishing foam pads.

After this to be followed up by M205, sealant and wax.

I read that its a pain for ScratchX to break down for its effectiveness using hand. Appreciate your inputs on this.
[
let me know if you need some, i will give u (just try & find out yrself) - basically 105 is professional & Scratch X is consumer

I only challenge myself - if i have what they use to detail a ferrari - when my ferrari came along - i can do what they did lo

Hi Kc,

Yea im thinking of rotary aswell, but in the end, im not gonna use it often as I only want to work on my own car and perhaps siblings/parents car. Tried to look for 2nd hand unit but not available.

Still undesicive on getting DA or Rotary. Perhaps then next time u organize a rotary clinic i can join just to get the 'feel' and acquire the necessary techniques of it.

Makita is Rm900 right plus all the backing plate & plate should be around 1K+ also? How much will the Dodo Juice Buff Daddy be? Would you recommend the Dodo for a newbie on machine detailing>?

thanks kc

HI Buddy
glad u share yr inner quest

like what i explaine above , a marginal of 200 only - why want to get a toy when u get a real thing

Rotary can do what DA does, but DA cant go the the extreme rotary does

Save up & get only Makita & i have help over dozen people to get their makita - in all those pics & we are building a Detailing community & not commercially

dont miss out for far too long

Hi Bro,

How safe is it to clean leather seats with OPC? I diluted 1:8 of the OPC and tried on a small test spot, it came out well.

But my concern is, how often can I use that? I have beige leather seats and they are a b**** to keep clean. Meg's Leather cleaner doesn't really clean the leather like OPC. so is OPC a harsh cleaner?

THanks

1:8 is a good dilution & safe - but u cant use till it is dry ( wipe off with damp MF) \

how often? or rather i will ask why so often? - 2 answer is there children ? or did you protect it with Leather protectant or Conditioner (PURE- not another 2in 1product)

the different of Meg & optimum = Just like POS & SLR -( consumer & professional) it is often use to do a professionally

Bro, do you know any products that can remove the mark?

never ever play with corrosive chemicals - i do not agree even the usage of degreaser or Super deg.....worst still amonia's Rxxx-X, highly acidic corrosive like topcat

ask those who have tried on a older windscreen...lots of issue...lets show some pic...that we may know what u r facing

I'm applying leather cleaner and conditioner every 2 weeks. While It has delayed the time for it to turn grey, but its not preventing it.
*
Hi bro

you do not need to clean yr leather seats that often - as it will leave a dry & coarse texture of your leather
generally every detailer will suggest do it when necessarily but however there are certain measure of precaution & maintenance routines ....we can do is
-

do a weekly or bi -monthly wipe down with damp microfibers (just plain water) will be great & condition it every 2-3 once (i only deep clean every 6-12 months once) - at time i just use my steamers - to open up the leather pores

the greatest enemy of leather is oil, sweat from human & food etcs (the most acidic - corrosive substance to your leather) remember for once they are a living organism but not is preserve for yr comfort & plushy

so, if found any oil just wipe down with damp mf..... and my 11 yrs old leathers seat still gives me the comfort ...nothing like leather - genuine comfort

have fun enjoying yr journey ya & not wasting time to slave for it.... drool.gif

how lasting would lasting? 30 days or 3 months? the important key question we need to ask ourself here is how long does it takes us to wax our car , cos that will determine how often we are gonna do it...eg ...if a regular patse wax requires 2-3 hours just put on & buff off....chances are we will avoid & skip or once in a blue blue moon - if i were to tell you that there is a wax that requires just 5 minutes - chances are you will do it weekly..i rather sacrifice the wax than my clear coat

a thin layer....one layer will do...good preparation is the key to a lasting wax (like proper wash, clay-ed, contaminations free prior waxing)....so there is no point of applying 58 layers when there is the only the 1st application is the only layer holding on to your car paint

ONR can replace - infact it is a cheaper solution to QD & UQD (imagine 2 ounces makes one bottle of them) a 32oz makes 16 bottle of them

do it effortlessly & rightly - yr ride will shines for years to come thumbup.gif

If I buy Kit wash and wax product then wash and wax myself, would the result be better than normal RM10 car wash shop?

I park my white color car outside and no roof, how often should I clean and wax with Kit to maintain the body and paint?

Thanks.

better than sending to be thrashed by others

recommended a weekly wash & a monthly wash

another threats - improper car wash
threats inflicted professional by car washes (or road side ones)
user posted image

SWIRLS is usually inflicted by our habits & the wrong way of handling washing , also techniques (wrong way of shampooing - circulating) & material used - such as sponges, worn out mitts/microfibers, drying cloth - cotton cloth - old rags, old t-shirts, jeans la....etcs...as our clear coat is only 2/1000th part of an inch

therefore I make it a point to change my Microfibers once every 3-4 months to prevent

after compounding - with OPTIMUM Hyper Spray Compound with LC Double sided wool

KC, my windscreen got little scratches small part only like 50cents coin
Can it be polish it off using glass polisher?
*
hi buddy
i miss your post earlier...my apologies

you need to understand - what can & cant!
there are so many consumers - who never goes beyond labels(just pick up whatever that is pleasing when they go shopping in enos or ace's !!!
then applied this la & that la - ended up worse than before - eg tom cat????? they are very acidic - so much so the moment u applied on these scuff area - ta ta ...often cant be remove

eg
glass is the hardest part of the exterior other than your rims - if you got a deep cut / scratches - chances u need to replace them or if it not obvious - ignore them

if it is water marks...i got solution for u - a professional glass polish - not another OTC - products ( i dont sell but if you want to try - come & join my hands on session - details on my blog

QUOTE(selangorclay @ Apr 17 2011, 12:45 PM)
what is this "sheepskin wash mitts" ? what is the comparable product in malaysia?
*
mitts are make for washing, a very popular product - in the older days ( same goes with sponges, terry cotton) but they are easily worn out after few washes or entraps too much dirt ( if these dirt is not clean & remove properly - it will carry off to the next wash & scratches yr paint)

therefore since MF is widely & technologically advance make & cheaply available - it is the most current cloth of all detailers are using world wide...but sad sad to say - many of our car washes still using them

eg....using rotary to wax yr car????? does any wax label stated u must use machine or rotary sat 3000rpm spins to wax yr car???/ wax is wax just applied on & buff off - (apply in cool surface & tips a thin layer - wait 30 mins buff off) dont do it under then sun.....but many baked their customer car under our 36degrees natural oven

eg...many ladies or aunties are using 4g Iphone but how many of them are using free calls??????
such an advance state of art changgeh device but they are only making voice call or web browsing onli

they are Skype - myvee free wifi calls - this prove a majority Malaysian doesn't really bother about the usage / functions which is make for but to show off

what is the use having such technology savvy gadgets ....we too need to continuously ...updates ourself

see what these american , european or germans are doing - emulate their success

hey guys. i want to learn about detailing. so i use
- "Meguiar’s Ultimate Wash & Wax" to wash my car
- dry whole car
- "Meguiar’s Ultimate Quik Detailer" + "Meguiar’s SMOOTH SURFACE® REPLACEMENT CLAY" to clay whole car
- wash whole car using plain water
- dry whole car
- "Meguiar’s Ultimate Quik Wax" to wax whole car

all this step correct or not?
*

can but very expensive try out for just a consumer range products -
I recommend u to try ONR (1 ounces + 7 litres water) + 3 microfibers to wash yr car in 20 minutes

dilute 2 ounces of onr into a 500 ml of water & clay (PG clay 29.00) which is 4 times cheaper than megs

Look at what i found
Chewing Gums like tars stains

only scratches left - to be polish off

TAR education - TIPs
user posted image
whenever after any 2 x 2 feet area clayed - we should stop & check for any Visible sighted contaminants - such as tars, dust, sands or brake dust

Note
Failing to do such - you might transferred A to B & contaminate another area with scratches..etcs...

STOP! In the name of Love - before you hurt me!!!

user posted image

remove them prior folding to a new area & continue to clay the next area

lastly can u wax yr car in 5 minutes & in USA they guarantee a 4-5 months durability strength

btw an ONR wash is only rm2.5( the same amount of soap u spent on yr car & cloths & body - cos after a wet car wash of 150 litres of waters + 10 minutes bath + another sets of clothing = more wastage esp in time

now i spent less & have more resources for other things

i have alot watermark on my windscreen. can i use "3000 grit sandpaper + water" or "3000 grit sandpaper + windscreen wax" to polish the windscreen?
*
somebody PLEASE CALL POLICE + dont do it...stop & do some homework searching
once kena & u say say bye bye - cost u more money & time to replace them

water mark can be remove temporary by polishing or compounding with hands or machines but it will resuface back after months

what i use is opti coating it for permanent

for those who is interest to learn & to be trained - pls look out at the details of my next hands on detailing charity sess on my blog

Optimum Polish or maybe Swirlx ?
*
I would say if it is by hand you need compound - if you have a rotary optimum hyper spray polish
as it has both weight & speed for it to level up the paint

any good liquid wax to intro?

yeah, I think KC has it. If the Swirlx is too mild, may have to move up a little step...ScratchX perhaps? This also depends on the type of pad you use.
