a question to ask,how often do we need to clay? most of the time i heard is 6months once..twice a year with proper maintenance steps?
if i wash->clay->surf prep->polish->wax after that wash regularly using Meg product..can stand up to 6months?thanks.
*

Basically there is 5 steps to car detailing & must be maintain
imagine u shift into the new house - everything baru - new paint - new toilets , new rooms & bla bla

what happend u never wash, mop, clean & what happen when you have a visitor

oppssss...so although u have a new house, a weekly sweep & mop, bi weekly toilet clean & mop whenever after cooking - esp frying

A bit every time will make thing last a longer while....it is a regiments of maintenance

1. Wash - Normal wash or ONR rinseless wash - weekly

2. Clay - only requires 2 times a year - lube with expensive QD or just 2 caps onr as lube \
- this is to remove surface contaminations

3. Cleaning the paint - I used to polish - now i just power clean (to clean the paint ) it could be from once to thrice a yr - dont get yr car polish & wacked for no reason in the hands of untrain person

4.Paint Protection --

5. repeat the 1st step - weekly wash

i have written quite a number of detailing article one of the 2 best :-
detailing without machine - the above 5 steps

guys i need some help here......ive been trying to maintain my car paint for awhile now....ive been waxing, polishing, claying and recently got a mequire swirl x to get rid of the swirls. but the thing is that i still dont understand why haze is present esp when there is direct sunlight. is there something wrong with my cleaning process?

or could it be the swirls that is making the haze effect, cuz the mequire didnt really get rid totally but majority of it.

what is the dilution for OPC for paint cleaning purpose? 1:8? is it just wipe off the surface will do? follow by swirlx/scratchx (if necessary) and lastly wax it?
i heard OPC strip down everything on paint surface including wax.
*
HI Michaelyii
Yupp - safely good - u may want to 1:5 or even 1:3
cleaning th e paint means strippping the wax off
the best of what i have try so far - as all u need is just one OPC

i bougt the bosch polishing sponge for rm30..velcro
i wonder if it will not damage my paitwork when i apply swirl x
also bought the cheap rm10 sponge with velcro too
*
No worries if Swirls X - but after every panel or two pld detach & flush with water
& then stick it back & spin dry in a bucket

The success key is - u must alwasy have a clean & un contaminated pads when buffing

no worry for the cheap but the harshness & body structure should be well consider prior using - otherwise u get more damaged than good
Some times less is more

techniques & working on with products also into considerations

nope this is not a second hand car...and its already 4 years old....it has never been machine polish before...most of the time i wash the car myself...so far through out the 4 years....i can honestly say i only sent to car wash center bout 5 times.....so far im using microfiber for wash polish and wax...each separate cloth...recently i just change for the polish and wax....but ive been using the washing one for bout 6 months now.... it could be my washing method which is not proper....or it could be my polishing and waxing that i didnt give enuff time for proper buffering....so wat do you think....

Added on January 13, 2011, 5:26 pm
thanks for the advice bro....neway this hazzy has been present for awhile now even before i started using swirlX.....i still believe is has something to do with my polishing and waxing method....all these while ive been using....kit polish and wax...which it does the job but not as effective as all the sifu here that has been using are the better products....but i did read somewhere that some polishing and wax compound do leave some stains behind after using for sometimes.....im not sure how true this is

start with a good washing

the most humble but most damaging begins

washing yr car in 20 minutes ring your rinsing just with 3 microfibers http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1720414&hl=onr

I have been struggling with water stains on my windscreen & adding on driving in low light & kaboom rain -

you know by leaving yr white cars not wash for a week plus u will get stripes - like zebra - because of our acid rains, industrial fall out & esp working & staying near factory with emission fumes - I am one of the victim

this was what i have been struggling with for a long time.....didnt want to do anything .....as read so much about the harm of ammonia product used for cleaners but leaving lots of side effects (Rxxx-X - bla bla bla) will cost u a hundreds (to replace our silicones blades)..rubber

then Txx Cxxx - an acid - corrosive base that may stuck & smear on the micro fine lines...from the wiper blades wears..... & pls be used it with caution, as it is highly flammable & once done literally cant be undone

* for i have far too much SOS call from those who have use it...& instead sloving water marks now smeared the glass

Some tips for night driving - i do have a pair of night driving glasses to cut away the glare- it help *my eyes is not so tired

Night Vision
Halo Effect reflection anti-reflective
Everyone should take extra care when driving at night because no matter how good your vision is, it will be more difficult to see. In most areas there are good levels of street lighting and our eyes do adapt naturally to help us see better at night time. Some people with eye problems may notice their sight becomes worse at night. Others may only find they have a problem with their sight when it is dark. This condition is often referred to as night myopia.

Night Myopia
Night myopia is a form of short sightedness and generally affects people under the age of 45. Someone with night myopia will be able to see things close up but not those in the distance. Objects in the distance will appear blurred. Young people with normal eye sight may find that in the dark, when there are low levels of light, their sight becomes blurred and they cannot focus on things that are close up. This occurs because in normal situations the eyes can change focus between short and long distances easily but when there is not much light, the system breaks down. The eyes are only able to focus on things in the distance at about one metre away.

Treatment for Night Myopia
It is not possible to prescribe special glasses or contact lenses for this condition. In most cases there is enough light when driving from street lighting and car headlamps for the eyes to work sufficiently. This is the case even in rural areas when there may be no street lighting. You should check with your optician that your vision meets the correct requirement for driving.

Blurred Vision
Another problem which may affect some people at night time is blurred vision. When there are low levels of light, the pupil becomes larger and this can accentuate any problems with focussing which causes blurring. If you do notice that your sight becomes slightly blurry in the dark, you may need to change your glasses or contact lenses to a higher prescription. You should visit your optician for advice.

Haloes and Reflections
Some people notice that they can see a halo effect or reflections around bright lights. This is more likely to happen when driving and the effects occur when looking at headlights. This does not necessarily mean there is a problem with your eyes but it is more likely a result of a dirty windscreen or glasses. The light scatters on a dirty surface which causes the halo effect or reflections. Condensation can also cause the light to reflect. It is important to clean your windscreen on the outside and on the inside to remove any dirt. Also make sure that your glasses are not dirty or scratched. There are anti-reflection lenses available which will reduce the likelihood of any halo effect or reflection and might be helpful if you drive a lot at night.

Not only is it dangerous to wear tinted glasses or sunglasses in the dark but the Highway Code stipulates that you should not wear them when driving at night. It is also inadvisable to wear them when weather conditions are poor, such as when it is raining heavily, it is foggy or snowing as visibility will be low. Tinted motorcycle helmets should also not be worn at night time or when the weather is bad.

Tips for Driving at Night

* Have regular eye tests to ensure your sight is up to the required standard
* Carry a spare pair of glasses or contact lenses in the car
* Consider wearing anti-reflective lenses to reduce the light reflected from the lens surface
* If you have any problems with your eyes, check with your optician for advice about driving at night

driving in rain day time? sunglasses help???????

This is a long over due pict (i shoot) refer as case study

yeah - you do not need to strain yr eyes -
user posted image

According to my Uncle - Ophthalmologist (eyes specialist) it is recommended to use sunglasses - to filter away the sunray & uv - inorder to prevent glaucoma.
Glaucoma leads to blindness by damaging the optic nerve. Elevated pressure in the eye is a risk factor, but even people with normal pressure can lose vision

Glaucoma is an eye disorder in which the optic nerve suffers damage, permanently impacting vision in the affected eye(s) and progressing to complete

bro

no worries...you are not the first nor last one

I know how geram u can be , esp,.....we are the victim

@ way to resolve it.....let it be....for i have a friend constantly being scratch by some idiot...so therefore he stop painting it & the vandalism stop

2nd cost u lot of $$$$ to get it repaint ....make sure u send to the right one...

My recommendation is to keep the original paint...if I would have repainted 5 years ago...i will regret..cos most of our paint shop....3/4 bucket kung fu

now my paint still shines & gloss...even this long line left unattended...if i would have respray..i might lost the authenticity of it

BTW no point wet sanded....risk of getting your over all clear coat down...wears out prematurely

dont give up the whole forest for 1 plant

planning to buy polish/wax product have a try, planning to get soft99, can?pls advise.

to know you need to do some homework-
our current handphone are slims and full of functionality - some even have 3G, camera Wifi, Blue tooth GPS & Etc.......but why dont we go back to nokia days to use 8200 modal...it is out of dates & we need to keep up with the trend

it was a good product back then - now another story

polish wax - contain both cleaner & minimised wax - let me ask you ,,,what was the reason u want to polish ? is there a scratch u need to remove or some hard stains & same time you want to protect your paint?????

most of these product contains high contain solvent - petroluem bases .....prolong use might risk yr clear coat

whatever the product u will be buying, i suggest is must be for lear coat safe

as for me - i choose convenience & so easy i can appply in just 5 minutes for the whole car & do it as often as i could

Most basic of car care & most imjportant about car detailing is a simple Basic car wash _ the most important of car detailing - begin with a simple humble wash

giving the most express wash in the world - ONR no rinse wash with 3 microfibers

user posted image

this is what & how we do
Proceed to clay (ONR 2 ounce dilutes in 500ml water) as lubrications the least aggressive but most effective (cost saving & good ROI) - it also prolong yr clay life spent , as most shampoo degrades & break it...

Moving on engine - spot cleaning - (optimum power cleaner) the far most better cleaner i ever use - so strong that can use as degreaser but so gentle can be diluted & safe for car paint & leather (safe for clear coat) i like to dilute 1:5 for engines & 1:8 for interior & leather cleaning

after Optimum power clean - dilution 1:5 parts water ( we are only going to do a spot cleaning test)

after opc wash & onr rinse
user posted image
Paint correction - product comparison (between OTC & professional range)
*
Started with consumer product - OTC
proceed to Polish - Optimum hyper spray polish & M205
proceed to compound - Megs 105

*part 2 (advance level)
Wet sanding - levelling paint coat

ending with - LSP (protection)
10 minutes optiseal ( a prefect bonding & protection )5 minutes car wax by OCWax

ended past midnight

Bro KC, do you provide paid detailing service for people out here, like me?? biggrin.gif

Read through your blog, and i'm amazed by what you've done.. Especially the headlamp restoration job on the Honda.. My family has a 6 years old black color continentals, never done polishing job before (except waxing on my own), plenty of swirls, hologram, water marks on the surface under sunlight. Not to mention the paint surface itself is dull after a car wash (by those road side car wash). It has plenty of scratches on the doors by some idiots who don't know to to open their door (I always park my car in a good shape, and i neglect to park in a area which cause inconvenient to the others as i don't want the car end up being scratch)

Oh, and more scratches done by my dog. He love to stand on my front bonnet, driver / passenger door whenever we reach our home. laugh.gif

I always love doing all this job myself, but sometime due to busy schedule, i left no choice but to send my car to the road side's car wash. Another reason is, lacks of the right equipment to do the detailing jobs..
I hardly send my car to those detailing center as i doubt on their skills, not to mention most of them are foreigner workers.
