OK, this question may reek of noob-ieness but I have no other options so here goes smile.gif

I am thinking of buying a normal PC LCD monitor (one of those cheap ones Dell constantly advertises) and hooking it up to my Xbox360 via a HDMI cable. My question is, what about the audio? How do I get the sound to 'come out'? Do I need to hook up a seperate set of speakers to the monitor/Xbox360? Arghh...it boggles the mind!

Hope some of you guys can help!

Thanks and cheeeeeers!

you'll have to get a 360 sound dongle. hooks up to the component port of the 360. it comes with elite 360s. not sure if you can buy em separately..

You know, there ARE places sells thing a lot cheaper than certain place like Play-Asia, or GamerSolution (Bernard), Kayne (SCE). Some people only recommend expensive places in many many posts. sweat.gif

The price isn't steep ,it's just that the HDMI cable you're introduced to is official Microsoft product ,hence the price .

If you're still searching for a Monitor , why only limit the mindset for HDMI ? For Dell , only higher end 24" offer HDMI input , and that cost a bomb , around the price of 32" LCD TV . Ok , there might be some with HDMI , like the more affordable SP2208WFP , but that doesn't change the fact .

Normal VGA HD cable does fine and the third party one always sells below rm50 . For the audio , you can get a Y->RCA converter , for about rm20 if your speakers doesn't support RCA input .

That easy , just always need to be aware of the price difference between official product and third party and ask yourself if you're ready to pay for the premium price or settle for something cheaper .

I've checked out Play-Asia before. Are Gamersolution and Kayne online stores, or conventional bricks n' mortar shops? Do you have their contact?

Thanks

Look for bernard from

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/602925

He will give you a good layout of the type and price. I got one from him 'VGA HD AV Cable and its working perfectly. Just remember to set your settings.

Currently using DELL 28 Inch LCD and you can switch to analog reception without unplugging. Make sure your LCD has 2 input though (digital and analog)

i just bought a new VGA cable for 360 for only rm60 from one of the forumer called Tech2. He got a shop in Sg. Wang at 3rd floor near surau. Although it's from 3rd party accessory but i'm very very satisfy with the graphics n sound quality. The cable is exactly what breaktru posted. U should try that one.. smile.gif
