How to make your blog popular? ermm.. I think this is the step.
1. SEO. SEO = Blogging. Mean from the start you want blogging (choose domain and hosting), that is start your SEO.
2. Ping. Ping after publish post.
3. Blogwalking. Anytime. To get loyal reader
4. Publish. Like publish your blog to Youtube, tell all your friend about your blog, advertise in newspaper, all about publish.
5. Community. Get some community to get loyal reader. Maybe event, make something new in blogging and so on.

I think that all step to get popular. Each step also have my sub-step. Like SEO choose keyword and so on. But i think if all these five you can do perfectly, you can be number 1 blogger in your niche. If personal, personal. I also still in study about blogging.

Can you suggest some directory other than dmoz and yahoo. Yahoo using paid service while dmoz not easy to approve some blog.

True. Only put link signature cannot give traffic. Must be active can boost traffic.

Thats is the difference between general traffic and targeted traffic. For some people choose traffic, but want to earn money. Maybe can try CPM or make advertrial in blog.

Still don't understand. What meaning exact match domain? Is it exact match with keyword? like targeted keyword, "earn money" and domain "earnmoney.com"?

Haha. I don't know how to say. Maybe not penalty. I have try to rank some keyword. Before my blog inactive, the post rank around 1 or 2 page 1 but in 5 month my blog not active, no new post, no new backlink, no internet, i see that all the rank keyword post go to page 3 and above. I don't know, maybe penguin update because around april google have new algo.
