Ok guys..... to liven things up, I purpose a little experiment/challenge to all the Low Yat Musicians here.

What I purpose is to meet in a public area, say The Apartment or something, and then we all bring our laptops and whatever equipment needed to compose, perform and record and original composition.
With the easy availability of desktop recording, beat making, emulation on decently powerful laptops, I think this shouldn't be a problem whatsoever.
By say 2 or 3 hours time, we should be able to produce something that we can be proud of and be part of a great experiment.

So in order to speed things up, we shall put the cut off point at the end of August to have this session. I purpose 16th of August, 12pm at The Apartment at the Curve.

We each have to list down the equipment and software we are using that day, as well as what we specialize in I will start first:

Hardware:
Acer Gemstone 5920G with OS/X Leopard and Vista Dual boot
Line6 UX2
Epiphone Zakk Wylde Custom Les Paul

Software:
Adobe Audition 3.0
Line6 Tonelab
Amplitube 2.0
Guitar Rig 3.0
Garage Band

Skills:
Guitar Playing
Multi-Track Recording

So, if you're interested, just list like the above, and list the date that you can make it.

Hope to see you all soon!

Can. But if anybody can "drop some beats", that would be excellent.
Bassist also welcome and can tumpang my UX2, as that has dual inputs.

Vocalists are also invited. Best if they can bring their own mics as well.

And echo, I'll just file you under guitar playing, because you can pwn me any time!

The Apartment is a restaurant in Curve which has a decent outside area (smoking) with electrical sockets for laptops and stuff. Probably decent WiFi too. Serves alcohol, so that might contribute to the creative process tongue.gif

And if it's Elvis's anniv, we should make it an Elvis theme tongue.gif
Maybe a remix of an Elvis song?

A studio would just confine us in a single room with loads of readily available equipment.
My idea, is that since it's all laptops and semi-portable equipment, it's POSSIBLE to make music in an open environment then a sterile studio environment.
We'll probably hook it up to a small 4 channel mixer and a speaker.

Also, I just realize that if it's a big group, the owner's will most likely kick is out if we order only one cup of coffee tongue.gif
So if there are any other ideas for venues or perhaps someone could sponsor us? That would be great.

September I'll be in Europe. tongue.gif
From 12th until the 5th of October.

Unless you can set up shop by Sept. 6, I think it's August or October onwards.

Hmmmmmmmm..... but then again, the whole idea is NOT to have it in a studio environment, but in an open, public area tongue.gif

Maybe we can have our jam session there the next time, but for this experiment, maybe not........ sorry Gap, but I hope you understand the nature of this project.

It's a music experiment......
It's making AND recording music in an environment that is usually reserved for the Sterile studio.
I want to see if recording and writing music in the open is more conducive and free then in a sterile studio.

Nothing Political or other motives whatsoever.

Well, if we are bringing in 100w tube amps and a full drum kit, yeah...... we'd be worried.

But the only speakers we will be using are headphones and a small set of monitor speakers. Nothing big at all.

Well, at the moment, not much people signing up, so it looks like this has been pushed back. Will inform when the thing is happening, but obviously not this month
