I also don't understand Warner's decision with BD25 and lossy audio. What the heck are they thinking?

Movies are originally with 5.1 channels only for the cinemas. To get a 7.1 mix, they have to redo it.

Paramount did release Top Gun with 6.1 DTS-HD MA though.

Peter Jackson put both Dolby and DTS on the DVDs, it's possible we'll still have it, they usually will let high-profile directors decide. Like Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind from Sony.

But frankly, Dolby TrueHD is not that bad.
