One question to you before I answer your question.

Is Opera 9.5 mobile UIQ version released?
Just use Opera Mini for the time being, its good
actually, there are betas of it being ran on the phone so i thought maybe someone had it.

look here :
http://www.p1iblog.com/2008/04/opera-mobil...ing-on-p1i.html

opera mini i found it to be a tad slower than opera mobile, and don't have tabbing support so when i click on links that needs to pop up a window, it won't work.

hi guys, i did some test regarding the issue of trying to copy phone contacts into a 3G sim card that kept getting 'overflow' error and it seems to be the phone's operating system itself at fault.

1. i tried copying my contacts from phone to sim, 'overflow' error.
2. i tried another sim card on the phone, 'overflow' error.
3. i tried moving my sim card into my k800, copy all contacts to sim, success.

the verdict is...UIQ itself at fault?? you guys not having this prob? i got the latest firmtware btw.

Sorry, my contact list only goes from phone to SIM card, not vice versa. If I want to transfer to another phone I bluetooth it all.  smile.gif
yeah, i meant copying from phone to SIM, got problem.

But what if you want to transfer from sony ericsson phones to nokia phones? or other types of phones? need sim card

anyone actually used the 3G feature of this phone here?

I have a 3G SIM card and :

I noticed on dual (GSM and 3G networks) mode when doing normal voice call, the phone starts to heat up about 15 minutes.

I then switched to (GSM only) mode and 15 minutes it's still cool like normal phone.

(These tests are done alternately for 2 weeks) to make sure the heat starts from normal levels each day.

Does this mean 3G is more harmful to health since it heats up more easily and operates on higher frequency?

that's the thing..if 3g is safer, why in the world is it eating up more battery and produces more heat within same interval length of time?? I've switched back to GSM only mode tongue.gif

Hi, I can't really find any bug list for P1i in lowyat here, so hope we can all prepare a list of bugs we found in our firmware so it is easier for sony ericsson to identify and fix in the future.

I'll start.

R9K009
----------
- in camera mode, the shortcut key number '4' switches between auto focus modes, but does not refresh its lower icon, as if nothing happened.

- when a person does a 3g video call, and then ends it later on, the speakerphone icon on the upper right is still there. There is no way to remove the icon (even tried using silent mode to refresh it won't work).

- 3g sim card, when trying to copy phone contacts into a 3g sim card, it shows 'overflow' error. This was tested by trying to copy more than 30 contacts at one go.

hi, can you tell me what mobile operator you're using and whether you're using 3G SIM card? i'm the one facing this prblem too. I tried mailing SE support, and they told me to test other phone operators' 3G SIM card.

me using celcom and yes, it's a 3g card. very strange - i have hundreds of contacts in my sim card and can be viewed by 2 other phones (just tested) but yet, unable to see anything in my p1i. it's definitely a phone OS issue - not sim card. dono how to solve this. any1 can help??  icon_question.gif

more ppl complain to sny ericsson the better at :

http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/common/con...nes?cc=my&lc=en

after failing to recognize my problem as an OS bug, they told me to go authorised service centres... rclxub.gif what a way to solve a problem.

New to this P1 and this thread as well, just bought mine a used unit yesterday at rm800 c/w with box and accessories.

Most of the everything goes fine, except all the contacts in sim does not readable by the device. I am using celcom 3g sim card, changing to other non 3g sim card also with the same result. I have to re-enter manually my sim contacts again. btw, just update the firmware vis seus successfully but the bug is still there.
*
you mean it just magically cleans your SIM card? or you are having an empty SIM card?

icic, but what about this situation :

i tried creating a totally new dial up shortcut from windows xp, not based on my pc suite,

- network-> create new connection -> dial up -> modem -> "any company name" -> *99# phone number.
- then connect, without using any APN, it works!

rclxub.gif do you guys ever connect like that? don't even need 'celcom3g' apn also works. rclxub.gif

that new nokia xpress music hav alot of bug.. thats what i heard..

lol..
it's not really alot of bug. in fact it's quite stable for a new OS.

I just traded my p1 few weeks ago for a nokia 5800 and here are some simple things that i can say when compared to p1 :

pros :
- built in GPS support.
- built in accelerometer for movement controls.
- 16:9 touch screen for pure entertainment.
- cables included to connect to tv to watch your stuff on a bigger screen.
- better video speed, 30fps.
- stereo speakers, way louder.

cons :
- p1 has better battery life. nokia 5800 on average usage is around 2+ days only. p1 had almost 4 days.
- lousier built quality on 5800, 'creaky'
- touch screen feels less sensitive than p1.
- lousier 3.2mpx photos, way way lousier.
- photo gallery ain't smart enough, as you need to
group your photos into virtual folders manually from within the phone!

yeah..just a simple one tongue.gif
