hey i would like to buy a nas but dunnoe which to buy. The nas function that it must have is tat -can play media player on tv.(with remote if possible) -can make custom email address and host web -and others just basic like saving things...

according to the datasheet. u have to use the same ecc ram. ex if u got rdimm then only can use rdimm and cannot mix with udimm

hey i m wondering to get a hp microserver or a synology nas.
The functions that i need is just -network storage -web hosting -probably email hosting too
both can do the same thing but diff price

how bout the hdd? wad brand of hdd do u guys normally use? i m planning to put 2 x 2tb hdd in mirroring raid which i dunnoe wad number raid 0 or 1

I m having a problem... my synology Ds211j with 2x2tb on raid 1 is having slow transfer speed via lan.
the LAN is running on 10/100mbps connections.
The transfer speed is ard 30kbps

the ds211j is new. Just bought last week...
Issit my setting problem? i have attached the usage image of me transferring a 1.8gb file to the nas across the LAN network
Memory usage is 29% and the cpu usage is 3% The max speed is 40kb/s

2) Has done it already 4) ticked by default
but the speed is still the same...
highest transfer speed is 46kbps highest cpu usage is 8% highest memory usage is stable 34%
Added on June 21, 2011, 11:30 amalso tried the manual set ip also same speed... issit the switch/hub problem?

i have found out the problem. the problem lies on my laptop. i used other computer to transfer a big file get average 6-9mbps. only my laptop has the transfer speed of 30kbps and below...
Added on June 22, 2011, 4:05 pmi have searched for the problem i have at the synology forum and alot of ppl uses windows 7 experience slow transfer speed too...

is there any tutorials on how to publish website for synology ds211j? i have a domain name, websites html files, internet connection problem: dunnoe how to publish it. only accessible with http://diskstation and the lan ip add
