Some serious and 'real' NAS casing. Aluminum+SECC, iTX form factor. Downside: 1. Require 1U PSU formfactor 2. Expensive 199.99 3. HBA card is expensive for those who limited with 2/4 sata port iTX motherboard 4. End up as costly as out of the box NAS. http://www.u-nas.com/xcart/product.php?productid=17617

I have 3 laptop internal HDD. I have decided want to make small and budget NAS out of these.
Got any recommendation on making one from the scratch? What I have in mind is c2d processor, 4gb ram and cheapest motherboard. But I need casing. (small, portable, if can smaller than mini ITX casing)
Is there any alternatives? Except buy a ready NAS product.

From my knowledge, NAS is a storage component right?
So how does it relate to torrent downloading?

Hi guys,
I am planning to purchase DS412+ and load it up with 4 X 3 TB WD drive. Just wondering what is the recommended UPS that could shut it down and turn it back online automatically.
Thanks!!

Im having tight budget too, but I insist on having auto on/off as I am planning to leave it run with minimal intervention. Im just wondering whetther the RS600 that you mentioned has this feature.
