KKW, Kuching.

I'm going aircond shopping again. So far I narrow down to normal York and Panasonic. I looked at the five star energy saving panasonic inverter which costs RM1450-RM1600. Compared to the normal ones which cost RM800 to RM900, using the simple excel calculator, it will take about 11 years to recover the price difference if I run for 4 hours per day every day, every year. Running at 8 hours per day, this then becomes 6 years. Running at 12 hours per day, 4 years and running every single day 24/7, it becomes 2 years. This is assuming the compressor runs at full load all the time (at max rated input power).

So for someone who infrequently uses aircond (my room is 27C at night without aircond but became 34-35C during the very unusual hot weather recently), a cheap non-inverted unit like normal panasonic or york suits me just fine.

also do not forget the sub RM 1000 units usually lasts only about 3-5yrs per life time. some times it is a good thing to change them every 3-5yrs for a newer model than splashing out for a higher cost model now. at least by then one would be able to enjoy all the new model benefits.

Yup, for those using less than 2-3 hours per day, using inverter one by paying extra couple hundred is not worthwhile and the saving from electricity bill won't able recoup back the more expensive cost than normal one.

Unless inverter price come close to normal one or electricity rate goes even higher

just to let you guys know one important issue about inverters: you cant simply compare the power rating. if the inverter a/c is running at below maximum its more efficient than normal a/c. so much in fact that you can EER of 14-15. if you compare this with EER 10 it means 40-50% less electricity usage. even with low usage (but daily not only when super hot, 20x a year) you will have substantial savings.

Hello all sifu... Do you all have any contractor for air con installing at Damansara?

Job I need to do:

1) Remove my room air con and install in another room where another room already has a unit of defect air-con.

2) Install a new air con in my room.

What is the normal labour price for dismantle, installation only?

If I get the new air con from the contractor do I have free labour charges?

Thanks

Hi there,

I do aircond installation, what is your aircond capacity? What type of residential? Approximately how many feets from your indoor unit to outdoor unit? so I be able to quote you accordingly.
