Need some advise here.  Looking to figure out airconds for my upcoming home im moving into.  Total size of this condo is 1465 sq feet

Master bedroom - 170 sq feet (excluding bathroom)
middle room - 190 sq feet
dining with kitchen (not too worried if kitchen is not cool) - 235 sq feet
Hall and Living room (both connected) 325 sq feet

All over ceiling height is 9 feet.  No sun hits into anywhere in the unit and plan to install 5 blade fans so to not rely on too much air cond

Can anyone pls advise how many HP air conds and BRANDS I should use for each of the areas?

Thanks
*
Master bedroom----1HP OR 1.5HP Inverter ---Panasonic Delux/Inverter Delux/Mitsubishi Delux Model
Middle room---------1HP OR 1.5HP Inverter----Panasonic Delux/Inverter Delux/Mitsubishi Delux Model
Dining with kitchen--1.5HP ----Panasonic Delux
Hall and Living room-2HP ----Panasonic Delux/York

Hi
I'm looking for 1HP air cond for my master bedroom. Budget not more that RM 1.2K.
No need inverter type
Tried York before in my parent house... don't like it very much.

Some sales guy recommend Daikin... is it a good one? anyone used before?
I will not be using it for the whole night, normally I will turn it on for 2-3 hours only.

Or any other good brand to recommend?

Thanks...

Didn't even know that this brand ever exist in this world... laugh.gif ...if such price...then why not go for york or acson if wan a little cheaper(york last up to a decade if well maintained)?...usually china ac would not last long if its cheap...use before mistral(chinamade) but it sucks...mitsubishi is still the best...

Hi,

I'm planning to buy aircon for my master bedroom and at first thinking of using 1.5HP, then some friends came to my house and mentioned they use 1.0 only for their room which is about my size.

Here's the layout of my room, measurement in cm. The line in red color are the windows (3 panels and not tinted) and there's a walk in wardrobe (with sliding door) and inside the wardrobe is the toilet. The blue color area is where I'm going to put my aircon. I moved it from its original point above the window to make place for full length curtains. There's a ceiling fan in the middle of the room.

It's very warm in the afternoon, that I don't dare to take afternoon nap in it on weekends. During dry days (which is very frequent nowadays), it's warm at night too. I just want to maintain my room temperature at around 22 to 24 degrees.

Is 1.0 sufficient for my case? And is HP going to affect the noise it make?

1.0HP will slightly underpower...depends on what brand you take...if u use ac calculator, it shows that you need 10,000btu...which york ac have it...other mostly 9,000++btu...if at night u sleep with the wardrobe door closed, then 1hp is sufficient...i will recommend you to use panasonic delux model because they have horizontal air flow direction thus can automatically distribute cold air to the left of your room...of coz larger hp produce louder noice because of its larger airflow but for 1 and 1.5 hp..merely can hear their difference...if you plan to use inverter, then better take 1.5hp...

ducting is for ceiling concealed type ac...for ceiling cassette ...no need such thing...but its true that ceiling cassette cost slightly more than normal split type ac

1Hp is sure not enough, your AC will work hard. Better use 1.5, is better to use higher, later not child enough hard to fix.

Can anyone share the information about Mitsubishi Aircond and Panasonic Econavi series? Both non-Inverter.

I am planning to get a 1hp (for master bedroom) and a 2hp (for living hall to walk in area).

Did some research on both. Heard that Mitsubishi gives warranty for the compressor up to 7 years (not sure how true) and it is quieter than Panasonic. However, Panasonic is better in energy saving.

So I would really be appreciated if you guys can share you experience/ views in this matter.

Thanks in advance.

10,000 BTU is equal with how much of HP? I searched online and it says 4HP. sweat.gif
I was actually quite set on getting a Mitsubishi Mr Slim before this after seeing the reviews online and after checking with a friend who's family business is air conditioning line (he's selling York himself). Will it work for this room, if I went for 1.5HP, with no function like horizontal cold air? I won't be using inverter.

1.5HP will be fine to maintain my room temp to just nice 24 degrees, and not too cold? Sorry I'm a noob when comes to aircon cause previously never had the need to install aircon when I was living in previous house. I asked that based on my aircon in office that seemed to be freezing cold even though we set it to warmer temperature. But then again, the office's aircon is the ducting ceiling type, don't know if that's same case or not.

Temperature is maintain by the sensor. 24c for 1hp and 24c for 1.5hp is the same 24c. The stronger (1.5hp) maybe only take to cool down the room from 28c to 24c in say 20mins, while the 1hp will need maybe 30 to 40mins.

Think the higher hp, also have stronger blower, can blow the air further, making wider area cooler.

The higher the hp, you get faster cooling. of course don't over doing it.

Both are branding aircond.

One of the brands uses Daikin inverter technology know-how.

Daikin is performance aircond.

10,000btu = almost 1hp...Not a problem...you can always move the horizontal air flow direction urself..is just that panasonic's one move by itself based on human activity...if u don't need a very cooled room then 1hp will sufficient...since now u are not getting inverter then 1hp is enough...because if non inverter and u overpower it and summore set it at 24~25degree...the compressor will keep start and stop frequently thus consume alot of electricity and reduce its lifespan...just close ur wardrobe door when u switch on ur ac...

Moving to a double storey link house. But I like the idea of a concealed aircond like in the hotel rooms. Where the aircond doesn't clash with the interior design.

Thanks weikee & YJYYEE for the useful info. I think I will contemplate if I want the room to cool faster and probably open & close the wardrobe frequently, I will go for 1.5 HP.

You need to understand how inverter works in the first place.

Inverter /= save electricity.

It saves electricity in the form that it can vary the compressor spend to accommodate the temp set, (running a slower speed) instead on (100% running) and off (0% running) for ordinary air-cond.

If always use the full blown basic, you won't get saving of electricity by using inverter.
