QUOTE(ozak @ Aug 15 2009, 09:16 AM) My first aircon is panasonic 1hp. Use around around 8yrs. No problem. I service by myself. But I change it to bigger HP. Use back panasonic cause it more reliable. Others is hitachi, mitsubishi, sanyo. remaind me of my Sanyo a/c last time.. my parent use that a/c for almost 21years.. no problem at all and it still cool.. my father service the a/c himself.. Added on August 15, 2009, 12:15 pmQUOTE(mzms @ Aug 15 2009, 12:10 PM) Here's a very simple excel calculator I put together to give a very rough idea of electricity usage and cost. It does take take into consideration EER or anything, just simple wattage only (assume same btu rating). Download the attached zip file. Open the excel file and change the fields in yellow. You can then compare Units A and B etc. Hope is useful to give rough idea. For a more elaborate one, go to the energystar website and download the excel savings calculator. It is intended for USA use but you can change the states (number of hours) to suit the number of hours you use your aircond closest to your own usage. Link: http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=roomac.pr_room_acbro.. use what program to open it? This post has been edited by KKW: Aug 15 2009, 12:15 PM

QUOTE(mzms @ Aug 15 2009, 12:30 PM) ok please try again, i re-uploaded in 2003 format. I really regret not buying the York in terms of savings in eletricity usage. But no point now, I think I want to move the Sharp to the infrequently used small guest room and then install either Panasonic or York in my own room. thx bro.. why dont try daikin? QUOTE(ozak @ Aug 15 2009, 12:53 PM) That why I choose back the panasonic. No reason for me to change others brand. Time will tell. icic.. seem now sanyo no longer selling at market..

QUOTE(brutus @ Aug 16 2009, 07:59 AM) Daikin is good as it is very silent and durable. my office been using it and in the server room it is running 24/7 for the past 3 yrs without any problem whatsoever. Yup.. agree QUOTE(tyj82 @ Aug 16 2009, 08:03 AM) I used Daikin before. I would say it cool really fast. 1HP 15 mins drop the temp from 32C to 27C. mine room took 10mins to cool down from 30°c to 26°c QUOTE(mzms @ Aug 16 2009, 08:09 AM) KKW, Kuching. I'm going aircond shopping again. So far I narrow down to normal York and Panasonic. I looked at the five star energy saving panasonic inverter which costs RM1450-RM1600. Compared to the normal ones which cost RM800 to RM900, using the simple excel calculator, it will take about 11 years to recover the price difference if I run for 4 hours per day every day, every year. Running at 8 hours per day, this then becomes 6 years. Running at 12 hours per day, 4 years and running every single day 24/7, it becomes 2 years. This is assuming the compressor runs at full load all the time (at max rated input power). So for someone who infrequently uses aircond (my room is 27C at night without aircond but became 34-35C during the very unusual hot weather recently), a cheap non-inverted unit like normal panasonic or york suits me just fine. oh icic.. got one daikin dealer at sibu...
