For your bedroom, 1hp is minimal, but on hot day it will take longer time to cool the room. 1.5HP will be good, if run for long hours like 5 hours onward, inverter 1.5 will be good investment.

Living room, I suggest 2hp.

If ure gonna be using every night, then go for inverter. For a 6mX4m, a 1.5HP is sufficient la. 2HP Panasonic Deluxe Inverter CSS18MKH only costs RM 2,600 (with installation). Not sure how much is the 1.5HP

Your room is slightly bigger than mine. Mine is 19' 9" x 11' 4", I use 1.5 HP inverter. Room is facing North

If your room is facing East, or West, you may need higher power A/C, if not your morning or evening will be hot. But If morning and evening is not your concern than is ok.

thank you guy, I also thinking to get either between 1.5hp to 2hp, but 2hp cost a lot more compare to 1.5hp, if only there's 1.75 hp (panasonic have it right on new model?)

Anyway will go for 1.5 biggrin.gif

That is what many people say. But I find mine ok.

York blower is very noisy but very fast cooling. Good to use @ living hall.

BTW, Acson is oem from York, and is cheaper too.

Actually, buying a expensive AC does not mean you have a good product. Sometimes, boils down to luck. I got Pana AC for the whole house. End up there were some problem with few of them and their after sales service sucks.

Is it inverter or non inverter? I have both inverter and non inverter in my house together with York. All are quiet. The inverter is a bit noisier but thats because its a 2.0HP compared to the others only 1.5HP.

You must check the noise. It may not be always due to the compressor. If its not installed correctly or too close to the cage or wall, then vibrations will transfer to the unit and make it sound noisy.

So far ive used both Panasonic and York and both seem silent enough.

Yup, that I agree.

My old house using York, after 2 years so noisy.

My brother room using Panasonic, but is quiet.

I was wondering how is Midea after sales support. Was worry of this hence did not buy Midea.

Added on January 9, 2012, 11:55 amTalk about noise, my distance neighbor, maybe 50+ feet away, when the a/c is switch on, I can hear the compressor noise... TttttTtttttzzzzzz

Now that is noisy.

I also can hear my neighbors house when air con on, can hear the sound. Worse is it goes on for like 15 mins, then off for 5, then on again for whole night keep repeat this process. Damn bising..and shake like crazy one the sound

Anyway I find the old national and York so far quite quiet...and durable compared to Panasonic. My friend installed 2 Panasonic, just 1 month one of them not cold anymore and already ask service guy to come twice. Also still not cold..

Normally if not cold, potential of leak, piping issue as well, can lead to the issue.

Over the year of buying so many air-cond, I find that installation may be as important as well.
I had several times, come across wrongly installed air-con, in term of position of the compressor that is improper,
the blower unit doesn't proper align/tilt causing clogged in water draining issue,
and sadly to say nowadays, it is very common mistake.

I had bought 5 Panasonic over the this few years time, I find little issue in general, one 1.5hp one, due to improper position, blower clogged with water almost 2-3 months once, and compressor is damn dirty due to location wise issue.
Another has some shaking sound whenever start, after few months using, when cleaning time, only found the screw mounting is not properly screwed by the installer! doh.gif

Glad to hear your Midea good to be used and value for money.
Do you use it at Master room or Living Hall? Quiet operation ?
Does your Midea air cond has value added feature such as Sharp Plasmacluster ion technology?

Guys, i am in this field specialise in HVAC (google it). For inverter, if you are having full blast with set temperature 20C and below, dont do inverter, waste of money. Inverter only good when you have set temperature of around 24C, or you have multi split system... If you need good contractor, do pm me. I have done many industrial and commercial projects including Tesco (which they opted for Trane)
