Hi all,

Could anyone advise me when I should have my aircons serviced? We're living here for a year now and are using the aircon on a daily basis (at night) at 26 degrees. Lately we've been noticing that it's get hotter and hotter at nights, so we put it on 25 degrees. After a month orso this too is starting to get too warm. I figured we might need to service it.

What does servicing mean exactly? Only regassing? What is a regular/normal price for that? Who should I contact for that. We are renting, so is it something I should perhaps tell our landlord (so he can have it done?).

dunno but imho it should be service by the tenant rather than the landlord.
same for other eletronics such as washing machine, fridge, microwave, etc.
again, don't shoot, just my opinions.

DikkieD, tenants use..tenants service la. when the owner hand over the place to u, everything in good condition right, after use if got anything like air con no more cold..or light bulbs spoil..u gotta fix it urself lo..

i think ur aircon just need to pump gas. just go to any hardware shop near u, say u need air-con ppl to pump gas ask them to recommend.

nowadays every major component comes from China. So not much difference btwn them.
the only reason u pay more for japenis brand is bcos of servis.

Yes, actually, it does not matter where it gets manufactured/assembled. May be affect a bit but not much. Other than service, i think it is the design that matters and the parts that they "choose" to use. I think most of the time, air con or electronic appliances break down because of spare parts defect and rarely on the assemble. (unless if the air con is broken because of improper assembling, that is another story. Rarely that happen because it would look very obvious)
Other than that, China parts does not always equal to low quality too. It is depending on what parts those companies choose to use. Cheap parts = low quality. Some companies want to lower down their products selling price by using cheap parts. (happens all the time)

Thanks for the replies. So there is no 'well known' company in KL that does gassing that I can easily contact via a website? The thing is that it always takes me hours to explain where i live over the phone, while via email they immediately have the right address smile.gif

About who pays; doesn't matter. I meant it more like if it is something my landlord could help us out with. Though we use it, they bought it....

Nope.
As i had an special arrangement with my contractor, he agreed to install my air cons for free. But now i fear he might not do it due to some reason.
So i would like to know my loss if i face them.

Hi all I'm from Penang.
I am looking to buy airconds and refrigerators, went for shopping and have a few questions in mind hoping you guys can help me with.

1. The salesman told me Hitachi airconds and refrigerators are good. Is is true?
2. If so, are there any Hitachi stores in Penang other than shopping malls? Or any other cheap electrical appliances stores to recommend?

Thanks a bunch =)

I have asked for quotation from few shops...air-cond only for the same model ranges from 2200-2360 in RM.

installation includes 10ft for inverter type 2.0hp could be around 350 per unit.

I wanna get an a/c for my mini size theater room.

Room size is 8W X 9L X 9H. I'll use it probably about 2-4h daily.

Do I need an inverter type?
