I have a Samsung 2 in 1 washing machine (WD806U4SAWQ) that came with a subsale house I bought. I tested - the WM is working fine. However, the previous owner / tenant did not take care of it properly – a lot of detergent residue, lint at the rubber seal area.

I’ve wiped the WM and ran the ‘self-clean cycle’ 2-3 times. However, during self clean, I can see bubbles in the machine which I think caused by detergent build-ups in the drum.

I’m thinking of calling Samsung to do cleaning services of the machine – was informed that it cost RM300-400 (inclusive of transport and actual cleaning services, but excluding spare part cost). I’m afraid that they will simply repair /replace even though nothing wrong with the WM.

Any other option? Recommendation for a trustworthy WM repairmen? Im in Kota Damansara area.

Drum clean washes at 40°C if not mistaken.

This could be accumulated over the life time of the washer by the previous occupant.

If DIY, fill up drum with cold water until it fills the inner part but not to the brim. Spin it just fast, if water comes out reduce amount. Remember this amount of water used.

Then boil the same amount of water filled as above but use distilled or RO water in a stainless steel pot...wait a few minutes for the temperature to drop to 90°C and fill'er up with a smaller pot with long handle or brand new kettle that's not been used yet. Spin the drum from the top side by hand with cloth so as not to scald your hand. Spin clock wise and anti clock wise really fast and slow but careful not to spill it out until it has cooled to 70-80°C  Then run a rinse and drain course. Do be careful when transporting pot to laundry area. Ensure kids or other ppl do not hinder traffic to prevent scalding accidents and the floor is not slippery or oily.

The other option is run the machine empty (no clothes, no detergent) at Cotton at 90°C with intensive wash option but you had to terminate before the final spin or even easier - if selectable, toggle no spin option. If water remains, run a rinse and drain course. Try 3-5 rounds and see if soapy residue has decreased.

Avoid or minimize softeners and use low side detergent like Kao Attack or Max Kleen 9.

The soap residue pour out from drum holes usually due to no load inside but got soap used. So during cleaning usually don't put any soap despite what the user manual says.

Granted but as Forumer said there was soapy residue during drum clean cycle.  This manual wash is at very high temperature meant to dissolve those residue accumulated in the drum so that it can be drained later on.

Yeah correct.. i did not add any soap.

Thank you for your input.
Considering that I only have one store room which is already tiny. with a washing machine in, I wouldn't be able to store anything in there  bangwall.gif
So it is either balcony or in the kitchen.

anyone placed their washing machine on top of laminate flooring? I'm planning to get my dry kitchen floor laminated with a washing machine on it but will there be risk in destroying the floor underneath it due to water leakage?

my washing machine is the front fill type.

yeah better not. ull never know when ur WM will leak.

maybe if u dont mind, can consider tiles with wood design instead.

HI All

Need some advice, between these front load WM, which one would be better.

Option 1
https://www.harveynorman.com.my/home-applia...ww1142r7mb.html

vs

Option 2

https://www.harveynorman.com.my/home-applia...1tp34dsxfq.html

assuming both can get around RM4000 price, which one would be a better choice?

Or should I even consider Option 3 below:
