Hi all,

I'm planning to build a plinth of about 2" height for my new front load washing machine. Something like the picture below.

I have not decided on which model yet (most likely Pana or LG), but from their website, most of those range around 8 to 10kg has the depth of about 600mm, and height of about 850mm.

Got 2 questions:

1) What should be the depth of the plinth needed? is 700mm sufficient?

2) About the water tap and the drain hole location, shall I put it on the left or right hand side of the washing machine?

Would appreciate if anyone currently using this, can help to see what's the dimension and positions you all have, and which one is better.

Thanks in advance.

1. Yes. Basically just need some gap (5-10cm) for the water and power socket etc. More gap means easier to clean behind also. My setup is around the same depth.

2. Doesn't matter because it depends on unit and WM will come with a short hose. Just make sure reasonable. My apartment the idiots put the tap on the left side of yard and drain at the right side, had to buy extension.

thanks for the info. is yours also a front load machine? will it move when spinning? coz i see if the depth is 700mm, then will only left about 1 to 2 inches at the front. just to make sure it will not fall down during the spinning cycle (my current one is top load so not too sure about front load machine) sweat.gif

also noted about the water point and drain point issue. ya need to make sure all are on the same side.

I've used both FL and TL. Shouldn't really have any problems with it moving until drop I think, mine barely moved during 8 years of usage. But if concerned, can make plinth deeper (720-750mm mm would be very safe), build a lip at the edge of the plinth or use some rubber pads underneath.

noted with thanks.

Hi all,

Currently I'm using a 8kg top washer but it's breaking down after 15 years. So now planning to get a front load instead, mainly due to the hot water feature and to save water. May I know is a 8kg front load equivalent to 8kg top load? Coz I'm ok with the current 8kg top load capacity, no need something bigger but not smaller for sure.

Thanks

Also my 1st preference is Panasonic but from this forum I see there are good recommendations for LG. So I have narrowed down to the following few models, with the budget around RM2k.

Would like to see if anyone is using these and how's your feedback?

Thanks

WD-MD8000WM

Hi all,

Wanna ask about the LG Direct Drive technology, if anyone can give some comments on it?

Coz currently I’m considering the following 2 models:

1) LG FV-1409S4W 9kg

2) Toshiba TW-BK105GF4M 9.5kg

The Toshiba one is slightly bigger (9.5kg), and with 2 years warranty vs LG’s 1 year.

But the LG comes with the Direct Drive tech which I read that it’s more efficient and also with lesser moving parts (no need to change the belt). Though the 1 year warranty makes me a bit curious if the reliability will be an issue?

Would appreciate some suggestion on these 2 models, or if there’s any other better options with around 2k budget.

Thanks in advance

LG have a good reputation for their washing machine. Just take care not to overload it (applies to every washing machine)

Thanks for replying.

Talking about overloading, I was told by 1 of the salespersons that front load machines below 10kg are not suitable to wash blankets/bedsheets as it will cause this overloading problem, even though the weight is below the rated capacity. Not sure if this is true? hmm.gif

He also said that comparing the same kg capacity, front load will have lesser actual capacity than top load. E.g. for 8kg machine, top load can do 8kg but front load is recommended not to exceed 6kg rclxub.gif

Currently my 8kg top load machine has no problem to wash 2 pcs of blanket per load

This one seems nice and cheap: Hisense WFQY1114VJMT

Any user reviews here?

Reviews on Shopee/Lazada seems good.

Thanks

I just bought the LG FV-1409S4W. Delivered today actually. Previous one was also an LG, a WF-TS888TC top loader which was with us for 17 years. Fixed once (water inlet valve) in 2016. Though it’s still working, the spin was getting really weak. Instead of repairing, just thought to get a new one.

Also looked at Electrolux and Bosch.

Which did you get in the end?
*
i haven't bought it yet, will buy early next month

have you used it so far? how's the performance?

also how much did you paid for it?

thanks

Bought the Hisense 10.5kg front load during the 9.9 sales, since it's the cheapest at this capacity (<1.3k after all the discount vouchers). wish me good luck sweat.gif

anyway will give some reviews here after i move in and start using it tongue.gif

p/s - ex-user of panasonic / electrolux front load here, so hope that it will not disappoint me sweat.gif

My parent's Panasonic front load is having this problem, where the "paddle" gap will trap the loose end of the garments and cause it to get stuck there as per the picture below.

May I know how to remove the paddles to clear the leftover cloths? And how to prevent this? For now they just put those small clothes or those with the string inside a laundry bag, but it's additional work for them.

Thanks

*
ya looks like it. but checking now to see if can open the paddles from inside the drum or not.

Mind to share your experience using this washing machine? I'm eyeing this model too.
*
well, it can spin, wash and heat up the water when needed to. as our cloths are normally not heavily soiled, i guess all the machines out there will be able to get the job done biggrin.gif

but do take note that front load machines will have longer cycle time when comparing to the top load machines.

conclusion: it worth the price paid, can consider this if you don't need those fancy functions like wifi remote control etc.

I'm coming from front load as well. My panasonic start having problem already. Looking to replace a new one. One question for full load cotton mode how long it takes to finish? Mine 8kg took around 1.5 hour. I saw in hisense website it took 3 hours? Is it true?
One more question. In term of silentness and vibration, anything to worry about?
*
there are 2 modes for cotton, 2hr+ and 1hr+ each. so you can try and see which one is more suitable for you

noise and vibration is acceptable to me, as the machine is located at the laundry yard behind the house so didn't find it disturbing at all.

1 small compliant though, the wash cycle completion buzzer sound is too soft and can hardly hear it from inside the house.
