For front loading washer+dryer combo, using liquid type or powder type of detergent is better for the machine longevity?
*
Liquid detergent better as it dissolve in cold water wash. Only con it cost more than powder type.

If using powder it may not fully dissolve in cold water wash. This phenomenon is quite apparent if you hand wash with soap powder. Front loader also gentle so can approximate the same problem as hand washing, If run warm cycle then OK.

Most importantly, front loader type use low suds detergent otherwise it will become a MTV foam party.

Hello, i have a studio unit which im looking to install 2 in 1 washer dryer. The problem i have is where to put the WM. Being a studio, its a small house and i have to put it nearby the kitchen for water tap. But what about the dryer, do i need to do ventilation pipe when i use the dryer?
*
Depends on where you put it..the exhaust hose should go to the outdoors otherwise rhat spot will be very hot.

Yes floor mat. Sorry for the wrong word used. So floor mat can wash using front load wachine machine ya. Good to know 👍🏻😊
*
Not recommended to use WM to wash floor mat. The rubber backing/nonslip underlay will disintegrate into million pieces and will create problem whether stuck permanently within inner tub/outer tub (the hidden from view part) or worse jam up the water pump 100x worse than lint. U can ruin the machine easily.

Anyone has experience with these mini washing machine? Plan to use to wash my children's clothes daily. So the load won't be a lot.

https://www.lg.com/my/washers/lg-TG2402NTW
*
Its a convenient size but price-wise it actually cost as much as a 12kg class top loader.
Might be cheaper to use the existing full-sized WM with tiniest-load setting?

Guys I'm trying to understand the vast differences in electricity consumption for washing machines.

What am I missing?
*
https://www.iea.org/policies/8719-minimum-e...washing-machine

And the ST link first google result of "meps rating washing machine"

The test methodology for TL and FL are different.

Top Loading Washing Machine ≤ 16kg
5-star: <6.0
4-star: 6.0≤ EER <10.0
3-star: 10.0≤ EER <17.0
2-star: 17.0≤ EER <22.5
1-star: ≥22.5

Front Loading washing machine ≤ 16kg
5-star: < 70.0
4-star: 70.0 ≤ EER < 90.0
3-star: 90.0 ≤ EER < 140.0
2-star: 140.0≤ EER <220.0
1-star: ≥220.0

Just to add, LG & Hitachi FL are Direct Drive Inverter (no belt & pulley system) compared to other Inverter FL.

In practice though, I don't find much difference between the belt & no belt inverters except that the machine depth is smaller for the same load size.

I would personally avoid Panasonic, as it seems that they haven't resolved the unbalanced load issue.
*
LG direct drive FL is pretty legendary. rclxms.gif
Without the belt and pulley, less headache (due to out of alignment issue then the belt wear out prematurely, change new belt also become frayed in no time, so need to check and replace suspension as well if its belt and pulley) - whereas direct drive can survive longer even if suspension a bit sux.

Hi Sifu, I looking for WM now. Below 2 models are the same price, which one is preferred?
1) Sharp esx1278 - 12kg, non invertor
2) LG T2313VSPM - 13kg, invertor

I don't mind the WM having a loud sound since I use it before sleeping time.
*
Take the LG. Bigger rated capacity better.

QUOTE(Jitty @ Dec 21 2021, 12:01 AM)
hi all sifus, did you use powder or liquid for front lod washer?
*
Liquid like Dynamo with the measuring clear cup is best. Low suds.
Powder u need to get low suds like Kao...the cheapo powder produce too much suds (bubbles)

Actually i prefer ori washing machine liquid without softener. Most of my stuff do not go well with softener. without it, machine also cleaner.

The Panasonic model not direct drive?
*
not really DD. rely a lot on tricks like going brushless motor and gearbox brows.gif
for me around same price range 16xx for Pana 10kg vs 17xx for LG 13kg, better buy the LG 13kg
over capacity never spoil, there's load sensor and u can select how much water even if u just wash a t shirt.
BUT under capacity over load more prone to failing.. if you want to wash curtain/bedsheet/quilt cover kinda thing without thinking twice, 13kg one make your life easy.

Hi sifus, was considering LG FL washer...
But also have dilemma of buying with dryer or not...
I heard that 2 in 1 (washer + dryer) machine is less reliable...
Wanted some input from those who has those machine before...
*
Separate machines still does better (if you have the space).

hi guys. am in the market for new washer and dryer for new house.
currently shortlisted a set from LG and Samsung.

LG-FV1450S4W (10.5kg DD FL) + LG-VDH9066WS (9kg Heatpump)

Samsung WW-10TP44DSX (10kg FL Inverter) + SAM-DV90T640LH (9kg Heatpump)

Samsung washer comes down to much cheaper cos got about 40% rebate (all buying from senheng) vs LG (16%). Am gonna use the rebate for other house appliances so still consider as savings.

Want to know which one is more reliable and better performance (cleaning and drying wise). How's their after sales service (for samsung & LG)

Hi Guys,
Hope you're all doing well, I'm getting married in 3 weeks and moving into a condo and in need of a FL washing machine, since i will also be buying a fridge the budget is 1.5k for the washing machine. Was looking at the 7.5kg electrolux ultimate care 300 vs lg md8000wm. I was considering toshiba TW-BH85S2M but the sales rep told me their quality has dropped since they were bought over by Midea. I'm keeping the budget at 1.5k so that i can add on extended warranty for peace of mind. I'm leaning towards the electrolux since my mum has one for the past 5 years with no issues. Price wise toshiba<LG<electrolux but right now there are some sales going on so might be worth a look. Any help or suggestions will be very helpful. Thanks.

Hi all,

Am looking to buy a separate washer & dryer, but i have a newbie question..

What capacity WM should i be getting for house of 2ppl, and washing of bedsheet/duvet cover/occasional curtain wash.. ?

Would 8kg suffice, or is 9kg WM a better option overall? Think anything larger may be too big already....
*
10,11kg better if you want to wash heavies.
Both working probably means heavy load at weekend to wash. Bigger machine does it more capably without overloading, so it last longer.

i am using dynamo with recommended dosage (sometime even lower) but there's always a leftover sud at the door area

Persil never failed me laugh.gif
however a bit weak on the Bosch machine so need to use 1.5-1.8 capfuls on full load.

Any idea why do they design the drain hose to flow upward?

I see most front load washing machines are designed in such way. It's weird to me because it is much more simpler if the drain hose is just flow downward and let gravity do the work.
*
It prevent backflow at the drain pipe. once over and out (over the hump) its gone~
