Bosch is fairly reliable. You won't have problem within 5 yrs. Mine the control board konked after 10 years. I decided to replace the board and shock absorbers. Total bill was 740 including labor.
So your warranty extension is likely not useful. Hope you didn't pay a lot.

What about made in china model? Is it as reliable as the one made in germany. And RM740 repair cost after 10 years is actually pretty decent.

The Bosch repair uncle told me most parts are made in China anyway. I have not independently verified this but the made in Germany ones are indeed assembled in Germany. Mine is the made in Germany model and hence 740 is still a small amount vs the price. Plus I changed 3 shock absorbers for RM150 which is not mandatory but they make the machine quieter and more balanced. The control board for my model is roughly RM500+

This is the price from official Bosch repair center. They charge RM100 per visit. You can probably do it cheaper with outside repairmen.

I do own a Bosch Washer + Dryer that was made in a China factory. Unlike many brands that are made in China, Bosch products are built at a Bosch owned factory therefore quality will be as good as if not better than those built in Germany because the factory in China would be newer and have later iterations of machinery. Bosch is a big brand in China and many of their upper middle classes will have Bosch appliances in their house as they tend to look down on their indigenous brands the moment they can afford foreign brands.

Thus far no complaints about the machine, having to deal with their service centre on the other hand is a different story.

Also do note that many of the assembled in EU Bosch products are assembled using many components that were manufactured in China and rest of the world.

Sos : Me did a visit to their plant in Shanghai during my MBA. Extremely state of the art factory and surprisingly very highly automated for a country with such big population. One of the big shot managers there from Germany was confident enough to state that the factory he managed was one of the most advanced in world and more advanced and modern than those in EU.

Thanks for the input. Two of my Bosch items are made in China, I was a bit worry about the quality. Hopefully it could last as long as people say about their made in Germany products.

Lol. Yours won’t last as long if they have fancy new features such as active oxygen etc features. Before you know it your washing machines can massage you as well!

I miss the days when my washing machine is fully manual. Timer is on full manual clicks. The more useless features you get the more likely it will fail!
*
Actually it wasn’t a washing machine. It just that I stumbled posts where people are talking about Bosch. It was my microwave oven and fridge that were made in China. My hood was made in Spain, my oven & hob were made in Germany. It’s from all over the world despite coming from the same brand.

It is the same thing. If your appliances are too smart they will die sooner!  The more features you got, the less reliable it will be.
I have my Sonoff 20A switch dead less than a year. My Schneider manual switches are all fine after 12 years.

That’s my worry too. Too much electronics that has the risk of giving way first even though the mechanical parts are still in good condition. My hood can be controlled with apps, and I was thinking, who the heck control their hood with apps when you can press the button over your head? rclxub.gif But the problem is they always give the better mechanical specs only in higher end model that comes with unnecessary electronics sweat.gif

Guys. I will be jumping from TL user to FL user soon. As I am aware, FL requires low suds detergent hence I could no longer use my Dynamo.

Any recommendation on low suds detergent and where to buy?

i'm using Dynamo Power Gel, so far no issue. Just need to reduce the amount according to ur load. as it uses very much less than using on TL.

Thank you. I look again, yes they did mentioned the instruction for front load WM. I guess it can be used for front load as well.

After migrating from TL to FL, I finally discovered the miracle of washing machine laugh.gif

How on earth can a FL washing machine get rid of chocolate milk stain on my kids shirt when a TL washing machine can't even after my wife scrub them manually sweat.gif

wait til a few months more of constant washing. Then you can see

Oh. In that case, I wouldn't be worried much. If damage then buy new one only.

I mean, if my clothes really damaged after few months, then I just buy new one. I rather buy new shirt then enduring the agony of handwashing stubborn dirt on the clothes. After all, my kids do need new clothes every year since they are growing.

why it is hard to find european washing machine in malaysia. I've seen a lot of  them in 90s like zanussi, siemens, ariston, whirlpool, elba & electrolux italia. does it  too expensive to be sold?  & honestly, european machine tend to last longer
*
I think you didn’t look hard enough. Most of the brands you mentioned are still being sold in Malaysia.

My previous Toshiba started to give problem on 8th year. Changed some parts and ran fine for another 2 years. Then it decided to go haywire and I changed to a new washing machine on the 10th year.

Ok to buy new after 10 years. No matter what good brands, it cant last forever and as long it doesnt give much trouble and cause inconviences.
*
Yeah. Lasted 10 years should be good enough. After 10 years I don't think it is worth repairing as more problem will come and end up you'd pay more for repairing then buying a new one.

hi sifus, I'm moving into new house soon n planned to buy washer n dryer (separately)
quoted rm3599 for Electrolux 11kg  front load washer and rm3990 for 9kg heat pump dryer..is it worth it?

btw all this while i was using liquid detergent with softener and always have black residue prob..shud i change to powder detergent? any recommended one?
*
I don't know about Electrolux, but having heat pump dryer worth every penny. My electricity bill increases only around RM30-40 per month after buying the dryer, and I use them everyday, 2-3 times a day on weekend (for towel, bedsheet, bathroom mat & etc).

And best is to have the same size of washer and dryer, so everything that goes into the washer, goes into the dryer in the same cycle. If different size then you have to queue for drying. We are a family of four (two adults, two kids) and 9kg washer is more than enough for daily washing.
