Don;t look at the brand as your first choice. Most are made in Malaysia now, so quality is the same. Get the one with longest warranty and cheapest price.

Ask yourself 2 questions:

1. How often do you wash your clothes?
2. How much clothes do you wash each time(including brother's, sister's, wife's etc)?


From answers above, you will know the size of washing machine to get.

Front loaders are more expensive, usually only higi-end brands like electrolux etc. Usually imported, so quality is better, thus lasts longer. But top loader is more convenient, lighter as many parts are plastic and cheaper. If you're the type that wash clothes everyday, then obviously your washing machine will not last as long as say the fella who only washes once in 3days.

Electricity comsumption and water costs of a washing machine almost negligible considerations but good marketing strategy.
