yes 2 in 1 is slower

also less durable compared to standalone washing machine and dryer especially the rubber seals... because of constant changes in temprature from cold to hot and its also wet, the rubber tend to degrade faster. I'm not sure about the latest models but this is a story I heard most from relatives and friends using 2 in 1 washer dryer.

for something that you use quite often and involves a lot of moving parts, generally wont recommend to take less established brands eventhough the features sound enticing and its cheap. I personally have used a few Xiaomi products and most of them worked well and well worth the price.... but I would never consider it for a washing machine. Safer to spend more and go for more established brands like LG, Panasonic etc. If anything goes wrong also easier to get support and repair parts

I've use the first gen of this for close to 2 years now. Bought from Igadgets, even use xiaomi fridge. Support was fast, warranty offer is only 2 years from local shop and luckily enough I don't need to use it yet. Machine is solid, for the price really can't find fault for it. Those who wanna save abit more and willing to take the risk, can buy directly from ezbuy or something, saw one during sales at ~1600.

Smart function is quite useful, I can leave everything in there with detergent and start the wash remotely before I reach home for hot and clean clothes. Too 3-4 hours for full load to wash and dry, which is normal for combo unit.

If they have local support like in China, this brand will overtake all other brand for sure due to its value proposition.

One final note. Do consider the risk as xiaomi QC is usually lacking, either u get good stuff or you'll get headache.

Samsung is not direct drive, Inverter with belt similar to Panasonic, electrolux, Toshiba, Midea.

I went with LG because of the 6 motion wash method and also based on user experience; many had trouble free usage for more than 6 years.

As a matter of preference, I prefer LG's AI over Samsung. LG picks the wash pattern from the 6 motions (scrub, swing, filter, rolling, stepping and tumble) based on the weight of clothes in the drum; whereas, the Samsung picks only the wash cycle based on user usage pattern.

Mine is still going as good as new for 2 years now. Though now our washes are less frequent since end of last year as we are back to work from office. We use it almost daily during the MCO up until Oct last year, now at most about 2 - 3 washes per week.

Washes clean & quick although our standard washer (without dryer) does not come with Turbo Wash function.

Personally timed the machine, and it does finish faster than the indicated time (probably fill time is shorter as we are using water pump); compared to our older Panasonic FL which loves to extend wash time (due to unbalanced load, so it will do extra rinse to compensate for that failure) and finally throw a random error code every once in 20 washes (towards the end of its life with us, it will repeatedly throw pump error code and if left unattended will just happily switch off by itself without finishing the cycle)

Samsung's AI is more advanced, LG AI is more on sensing fabric type only and adjust wash pattern to match fabric type.

Auto dosage machines are available on other brands as well, even Bosch has it. I think its called Auto-Dos

Samsung AI is intelligent in the sense can predict the cycle that you would use based on your lifestyle.

LG 6 motion is unique to LG only, so far on most machine I see only tumbling or filtration (2 pattern at most) and filtration is done at the start of the wash cycle (as in Panasonic, to mix the detergent) after that it goes into normal tumbling; whereas LG uses around 3 - 4 sequence of the 6 motion throughout wash and rinse cycle based on the load in the drum (my observation)

And no, Wi Fi connectivity allows you to get push notification from the machine when it has issues or to inform when cycle completed.

Remote On/Off now require additional step to be performed on the machine (due to issue at US, where parent started the machine and a kid got stuck inside the machine); so far I used remote on/off only once; as I had to guide my parents remotely to use the machine.

And if you pause a running machine on the app, you are unable to restart it via the app; this is a bummer really and you can't accidentally turn off the machine with app either, as the app will ask for confirmation before proceeding to switch off.

I'm using a samsung washer dryer combo.

If I have extra money, I'll get a separate unit. Not sure if its just mine, but the drying process took a while about 2-3 hours. So during that time, I cant use it to wash another round of clothes.

To cut down the time, i wash all the clothes and hang dry the big clothes and only dry my kids clothes.

I dont have exp with LG, but I'm pretty much satisfied with what I'm using now.

I dont have that issue because I'll always wait for the the drying process to finish and by the time, can always open the door.

But i'd say its very inconvenient to stop a drying cycle even when it just started less than a minute. The door will be locked and have to wait for quite some time. So I'll always double check that I have put every single piece that needs drying before I start.

Also, do u notice that the drying efficiency will be less over time? Its because of the vent is blocked by lint. Quite an easy process to diy and clean the fan and vent.

It is to prevent the user kenak steam/heat dmg when u open the door as the inner full of hot air.
Imagine if u open the door straight after the drying process and ur eyes kenak those steam

Combo requires cleaning maintenance to clean the internal cloth lint and sensor. Once this sensor and air intake clog, the drying time is longer and won't dry enough. DIY maintenance is not difficult.

It's never mentioned in the guide coz u need to open the machine.

1. Open 2 screws at the back for the top cover. Push the top cover back and lift it to open.
2. Unscrew all the screws surrounding the blower unit. There are couple of slightly longer screw, so u need to make sure u know where it should go back later.
3. Open the top cover for the blower and inside u'll see the filter. Usually after 4-6 months it'll be covered with lint.

Kinda hard to explain here. When I'm free later I can make a video.

If u notice your clothes are still not conpleteley dry after u use the cupboard dry mode, then you'll need to service this filter.

Anyway yours is a newer model. Bought mine two years ago.

Manual don’t have DIY cleaning. Cause it doesn’t encourage consumer to service.

Got to open the back and top cover. Than the dryer side cover. The pic show the dryer side cover already open.

I circle out is the sensor. The round  plastic intake inside have another sensor. (Arrow) All the sensor will clog with lint. Need to clean up.

Prepare a long brush to scrub inside the round plastic intake. (Arrow) Can pour the water in to flush away the lint. But not the heater side.

There is a fan motor on the cover need to clean up too.
