Electrolux technician told me that the 300 series tends to be easily broken due to its light weight and strong vibrations

Hi all,

Wanna ask about the LG Direct Drive technology, if anyone can give some comments on it?

Coz currently I’m considering the following 2 models:

1) LG FV-1409S4W 9kg

2) Toshiba TW-BK105GF4M 9.5kg

The Toshiba one is slightly bigger (9.5kg), and with 2 years warranty vs LG’s 1 year.

But the LG comes with the Direct Drive tech which I read that it’s more efficient and also with lesser moving parts (no need to change the belt). Though the 1 year warranty makes me a bit curious if the reliability will be an issue?

Would appreciate some suggestion on these 2 models, or if there’s any other better options with around 2k budget.

Thanks in advance

LG have a good reputation for their washing machine. Just take care not to overload it (applies to every washing machine)

Thanks for replying.

Talking about overloading, I was told by 1 of the salespersons that front load machines below 10kg are not suitable to wash blankets/bedsheets as it will cause this overloading problem, even though the weight is below the rated capacity. Not sure if this is true? hmm.gif

He also said that comparing the same kg capacity, front load will have lesser actual capacity than top load. E.g. for 8kg machine, top load can do 8kg but front load is recommended not to exceed 6kg rclxub.gif

Currently my 8kg top load machine has no problem to wash 2 pcs of blanket per load

not sure if this is true but I also noticed top load tend to have a bigger drum compared to front load

but that also come with its own cons - more water usage. Though since our water bills are fairly cheap don't think anyone is paying attention to water usage unlike electricity

front load tend to be more gentle on fabrics

Any recommendation for big size (more than 15kg) FL washer or washer/dryer? Not many brand in the market.. only samsung and LG. Or is it better just take TL since big size?

because its a combo. their standalone washers are generally reliable

but I can understand why u reluctant to go back to LG

in that case u got no choice but to get top load. there's really not much brand doing such large capacity front load. At most is 12kg

What he just said. I stay in a very windy area so never had the need for a dryer so have been using LG FL washing machines exclusively for forever.

LG makes a 15KG front loader if size is what you're after. I too can vouch for LG. I'm on my second washing machine after my first one died after 13 years or something.

Hi, I am looking at these LG FL washing machine and dryer model.

Washing Machine - FV1450S4W
Dryer - VD-H9066WS

Do I need a 20amp breaker for these combo? Or a 13amp breaker can shared with both appliances?

Not necessary as long best practice does not run on same time

Or u can check how many kW usage for both

As long below 2.8kw for both add together then u can share

I checked their online manual but didn't state how much power usage when loaded. Maybe I should ask Lg or the sales.

Thank you.
