QUOTE(passmaster14 @ Dec 6 2021, 01:07 PM) hi, total noob with washing machines here. planning to upgrade from an 8kg top load to a front load - what's a capacity that's similar to TL? notice that FL tend to have higher capacity but the drum size is smaller than TL. You can go for 10kg FL, FL drum size is smaller due to the washing mechanism (lift and throw clothes into the water, whereas, top Load at max capacity needs to fill the drum with lots of water, as water is the scrubbing medium in a TL; hence the big drum size). We have been using FL all the way, from a tiny 5kg machine from the 80s and now to LG 10.5kg FL machine. LG is so far the best we have owned, in terms of wash performance and is much more gentle on our clothes. |

QUOTE(passmaster14 @ Dec 8 2021, 12:36 PM) I am using this same model since last year, just that "shifted" my house to US address; in order to get it synced with our Google Home.Mine is FV1450S4V, metallic finish but same model. Does not come with turbo wash function though (which speeds up wash time) |

Which FL brand is good? Looking for 7-7.5kg with delicate/normal wash function. Thinking either LG or Toshiba. Heard Electrolux spinning sound very loud and noisy. Any suggestion? Thanks

Thanks Toshiba is a fairly new player in FL washing machine (after the licencing take over by Midea); We are using LG and find it good, especially the 6 motion wash cycle which is proprietary to LG. Inverter FL washing machine will be quiet, but during spin cycle; there will still be some sound from the drain pump; but not very noisy. |

Just to add, LG & Hitachi FL are Direct Drive Inverter (no belt & pulley system) compared to other Inverter FL.In practice though, I don't find much difference between the belt & no belt inverters except that the machine depth is smaller for the same load size. I would personally avoid Panasonic, as it seems that they haven't resolved the unbalanced load issue. |

QUOTE(mini orchard @ Dec 7 2021, 09:52 PM) My Toshiba 11kg top load wm is oredi 5 years with zero issues so far. Hopefully it remains that way. My previous Toshiba started to give problem on 8th year. Changed some parts and ran fine for another 2 years. Then it decided to go haywire and I changed to a new washing machine on the 10th year. |

No matter what good brands, it cant last forever and as long it doesnt give much trouble and cause inconviences. |

Lasted 10 years should be good enough. After 10 years I don't think it is worth repairing as more problem will come and end up you'd pay more for repairing then buying a new one. |

I was using LG top load 7KG model since 2010 till 2020, it was quite ok, last for 10 years, it spoilt last year, then I bought this Toshiba top load 10KG, as other brands have no stock due to MCO and Covid, this unit a bit shaky, always need to readjust and sit it properly
