Any recommendation for reliable brands of fridge? Looking for a medium size one.

I noticed not many ppl recommend electrolux. Any reasons on this? Is it because it is not reliable as other brands like sharp and hitachi?

Trying Hitachi brand for 1st time .....  RS800P2MGS nett 605 litres .... arrived today.

So far so good, between me and my parents we've two hitachi fridges already, all bought from Legend SS2:
SBS R-S800P2M since 2018, R-VG490P8M since Feb this year.

The R-VG710P7M-1 (with -1) denotes addition of inverter control. Essentially the same body.

We always let the fridge sit unused for 5 hours+ minimum before first operation.

Don't go for glass model, mine breaks after few years. Search n check back in this thread.

Yes -1 is inverter

Big 2 is more fancy feature with digital temp controls, get the newer -1 model.
Its a bit fatter than the R-VG490P8M.

Glass model I've been using for around 3 years on the R-S800P2M so far so good. As with anything glass, don't slam the door or bang it hard onto surroundings and close softly will be ok. Also use only mild soap e.g. dishwashing liquid and not those "super powerful no label stuff" that the 4-hour part time cleaning crew like to use. Care must be taken during unloading it so it doesn't stress fracture if dropped. I got both R-S800P2M and R-VG490P8M from Legend SS2, u can bargain closer to shopee prices, delivery is inclusive (so its around shopee price+delivery fee).

Star rating is one thing but for fridge since everybody's usage pattern is to keep it on 24/7/365 yearly consumption is key.
There are inefficient cute fridges those 200L ones consuming as much power as a larger SBS fridge (that is double the cute fridge size).

2 star 189L - 449kwh/ year

Hi guys

Avoid buying hitachi r-vg710p7m. After 1-2 years ice started to build up in freezer wall. Lodged a report to Hitachi take ages to reply and sent an extremely bad authorised service company to attend. Kept saying can't put heavy things on the door - just some milks, chili sauce and dry foods considered heavy?? Then don't design compartment there.

He tried to adjust the door leveling and charged RM150.
After 2 weeks the ice building is getting even more serious and texted the same guy totally don't want bother reply. Hence i made another report to Hitachi and again takes ancient to reply. Finally sent the same guy to attend.

This round straight told me door cannot rescue anymore have to change whole door costs RM1.8k..answered very sarcastically and told us this is in fact known issue and should have told us earlier during first trip but he said he can't because he is Hitachi's authorised service personnel.

...omg better buy a new fridge?? Bad service and slow response and could you trust? Then i made a complaint to Hitachi he just mentioned door must be replaced...

Conclusion avoid Hitachi.. Really lousy, bad service can't deserved to be japanese brand. Remember hitachi's fridge Door compartment cannot put a lot of things... Haha

Yeah, was duped by the Sharp catalogue for my model SHP-SJP735MBK which I bought recently during the 11.11 sale. Bought it for 2.5k, listed as 5 star rating, but when arrived, the ST sticker shows 3 star rating at 539kwh. Potentially will burn pocket paying electricity bill

Should be OK, check the energy label at the shop for the AEC before buying. Altho this one only single fan cooling.

The competition from hitachi has dual fan cooling for similar price range.
R-VG490P8M - this one I confirm is ST 5star at 364 kwh/year AEC
R-VG460P8M - slightly smaller. Not sure on the AEC but presumably similar with the 490.

So far so good.. happy with it, keeping my ice cream and other frozen stuff/meats cold (can see the cold air flowing out like those Korean movies breathing in the cold) with medium temp..
Believe you'd be happy with it too can update again once it arrives (let it stand for 5 hrs then only turn on)
You can center around Sharp, Mitsu, Hitachi inverter models for energy saving.
with inverter R-VG490P8M 443L 5star 364kwh/year only << this is my benchmark for energy consumption.
without inverter - cute RM800-900 fridge 190L by a Japanese brand already consume 489kwh/year << so note that even tiny fridge, without inverter, does suck 50% more energy for nothing.

Me and my parents use Hitachi newer series (R-VG490P8M for me, SBS R-S800P2M for my parents). I think we just love black glass fridges for some strange reason. From previous posts, the older large fridge got compressor issue but nowadays those P7 with -1 ending in model have solved it.

My partner uses Sharp 600+L 2-door also pretty reliable for quite a few years and still going strong.

Toshiba the current trend of throwing or donating away 5-6 years circa 400L models which fail to keep the compartments cool seem worrying.
I donated my secondhand fridge to the lorry driver since its uneconomical to fix.. given that I bought it used (total about 6 years old between me and previous owner) that I bought for 400 and didn't even manage two years in my hands 

Pana too much cost cutting than product innovation.

Mitsubishi we have one for more than 12 years + some years by previous owner still going strong. Only replacement needed was just the light bulb.

Korean electronics.. still sus for quality.

Office pantry using Electrolux fridge with SG NEA sticker.. Probably grey import or sth.. it works but two out of four ticks only so if you're paying the bills might need to check the energy use.
For big (more pricey) fridge..somehow what I see from my relatives and atas friends, they usually go for Japanese brands. Korean electronics still a bit of a gamble, should you choose to proceed.

Hi, planning to get a 2nd fridge, need a top freezer, 400-500L, budget below RM3k 
(buying from physical store @ Sabah, use SEDA rebate)

1st one is a Panasonic 400+L bottom freezer, at 10 years now, still working

Ya I am using Hitachi now, indeed good. Previously using Sharp, also good and not spoil even after 10+ years until I needed to get inverter and newer tech.

BTW you guys dare to buy fridge from Shoppee? Normally I don't dare to buy expensive electrical appliances from online shops unless price difference a lot like TV.

after discount voucher & shipping fee total RM1919, I think pretty good deal. 

Was waiting for the Save 2.0 voucher from Lazada but never arrive.. if got that voucher will be even better price 

Now waiting for delivery arrangement and hopefully hassle free and all good item.

Can anyone give top freezer refrigerator recommendations for 70mm net width? Preferred capacity at least 400L. I’m looking at these models but people said don’t go for Korean brands:
