QUOTE(arthurlwf @ Jul 26 2008, 02:55 AM) Nowadays, there are so many brand to choose for refrigerator... There are many high quality refrigerator manufacturer in our market today. However I recommend Samsung because this brand really hits the sweet spot as the prices are quite comfortable and the styles are very updated and beautiful. They've also received awards for customer satisfaction.e.g. LG, Panasonic, Hitachi, Electrolux, Samsung, Haier Which brand do you recommend? Preferably a durable and long lasting fridge... oh yeah, and also affordable... |

Hmmm, I am having some issue to identify which is the best option for my new fridge. Any advice for the selections below?
1. Panasonic NR-BW465 (net 368 liter) - Pros: inverter (energy saving), stainless steel finishing, Cons: price, bottom drawer 2. Hitachi R-Z490EM-1 (net 395 liter) - Pros: Price, glass door finishing. Eco Thermal sensor (supposed to save energy), Cons: not sure about the reliability and ppl complain that the motor is noisy 3. Mitsubitshi MR-F47C (net 381 liter) - Pros: Reliability, Cons: Price, painted finishing 4. Sharp SJPT591 (net 397 liter) - Pros: Price, plasmaculster, reliability, glass door, Cons: Door design (handle portion is hard to maintain) Beside, is there anywhere that I can look for the energy consumption for the specific fridge model per annum basis? |

Hitachi R-Z490EM-1 and Mitsubitshi MR-F47C and Sharp SJPT591 are categorised as energy "efficient". you cannot compare panasonic with the 3 other brands because inverter vs non-inverter. if you are the user who uses the freezer most of the time, then NR-BW465 doesnt suit you because it gives you trouble. if you are the user who indeed very less frequent use the freezer, then NR-BW465 serves you nicely. there is not pros or cons regarding the top freezer or bottom freezer. more AT cars than MT cars now, why? panasonic is changing the lifesyle. |

Hi iamsobloodysick thanks for your feedback. I understand the selling point of the bottom drawer. Eventhough it is a con, but i guess it is something that ppl can get used to. Personally, I dun think i will use the freezer that often.
Besides, I am keen to know how much energy saver it is for the NR-BW465 vs the rest. If I am not mistaken, the MR-F47C average energy consumption per year is 569kwh, whereas the panasonic bigger sister NR-BY602XS is at 533kwh per year and Sharp one is around 555kwh. Based on assumption, if the NR-BW465 consumes 450kwh per annum. That will be ~ 100kwh saving per annum. If you translate that into $$, it is like a saving of RM33 per annum (assume if we use 1kwh = 33sen) or close to RM3 per month. Anyhow, I really dont mind getting the NR-BW465 if the per annum energy consumption is less than 450kwh This post has been edited by cvshi515: May 24 2012, 03:19 PM |

Dear All,
I was in one of the electrical shop in PJ and i saw this massively ginormous fridge by Hitachi. Model is R-V750PM or R-V750PMX. 700L gross, nett is 600L. I was actually survey-ing fridge for my new house. Lets just say I will need that size, I will need to know if anyone is using this model, any problem so far? Where did you buy it and how much. Please advice. Thank you in advance. |

Hi all, have already narrowed down to 2 brands...just wondering, Hitachi or Panasonic is of better quality in terms of efficiency + long lasting (can last more than 3 or 5 years without any problem/breakdown)? Looking for fridge with capacity range of between 600-800L. Any advice?
QUOTE(phythia79 @ Dec 3 2011, 10:13 AM) sifus..i'm now getting confused. Please enlighten me on the bottom or top freezer..which ones is for energy efficient? I think it doesn't matter whether the freezer is located on top or at the bottom, both types are almost the same. Maybe the bottom freezer might be more economical coz it won't loose much cold air compare to the top freezer... Scientifically, cold air is heavier (don't need any special energy to push cold air to the bottom, it will naturally flow to the bottom), hot air is lighter. So if freezer at the bottom, most of the cold air is contained in the freezer when we pull open up the freezer drawer... whereas if we open the top freezer door, more cold air will be lost coz most will travel out + down away from the top freezer (cold air heavier than surrounding air). But the cost of electricity to generate back cold air for top freezer may not be much difference (of course will be higher a bit) compare to the bottom freezer. It all depends on preference/convenience of each individual. I checked online but they say bottom freezer is energy efficient as heat rises ....but some says that it's quite the opposite as energy is used more to push the cold air to the bottom. sigh! |

I'm looking at Hitachi R-W720EM. Normally what is the lifespan of a hitachi fridge of this type? If lifespan is short, I'll buy a cheaper, smaller one since I dont need this size at this stage

If the freezer is at the bottom n the fan is also at the bottom n considering that cold air ia heavier it should theorectically mean that it takes a little longer to cool the top part, ya? Vs having a top freezer with fan on top n cool air just goes to the bottom easily. Not saying that bottom freezer takes very long.. Just saying the rate of cooling is slower, but the differemce may be so small that it is negligible. What about fan n mechanism lifespan?
