i suggest u to install latest version of xWinPwn or WinPwn. u can create your own custom IPSW file. no need to depend on custom firmware on the net. at least u can rest assure that u r doing it the right way.

for step 2 & 3: u can follow another way. use winpwn to pwn your iPhone and customise fw1.1.4, and make sure u select BootNeuter. the steps mentioned on the article is for an iPhone that's curently running 1.1.4 but previously not unlocked using winpwn / pwnage, thus needing u to install BootNeuter manually from Installer.
and then, use the custom 1.1.4 firmware through iTunes, and after it's successfully restored and unlocked, u can put the iPhone to normal restore mode using iLiberty or ZiPhone, and then u can proceed to restore the custom 2.0 firmware.

some people claim that they need to put the iPhone to DFU mode, as normal sleep mode doesn't work. but emember though by doing this, u can't easily kick the normal mode back, especially on iTunes 7.7.

mmm...another thing, u need to use iTunes below version 7.7 if u wanna install back firmware 1.1.4. and u can also install custom 2.0 on iTunes 7.6.2 that has been downgrade from 7.6.2 (as i've tested) but u only can't access the iPhone, until u upgraded to 7.7.

btw the guide of reinstalling iTunes is too long (plu it's for both OSX and Windows). most likely he's using windows (as he mention winpwn), so he just need to :

If what you mean is directly unlocking the stock 2.0 you've already installed on your phone, then no, it's not a currently available option. Reason being, the current exploit in the 2.0 firmware has to be added and patched in advance before being restored into the phone. Hence all the Pwnage going on everywhere tongue.gif Follow Laskar's instructions, package your own custom 2.0, Pwn your phone and restore. Take a few attempts but it'll work eventually. Nothing permanent to worry about wink.gif

if u really want to use the slow os 2.0, u could create custom firmware thru winpwn_2.0.0.3_setup.zip . choose the ipsw builder. u could download the readily available, iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Custom_Restore.ipsw thru torrent or http download.

if u want to go back to 1.1.4, read my other post. i got my iphone stuck since thursday, and only success after:
1. enter dfu mode
2. restore 1.1.4 factory firmware
3. downgrade baseband using "ziPhone patched by kIREmK
4. use ziphone to jailbreak & unlock

i got the original guide from neowin.net forum.

The thing is, iTunes 7.7 does not allow the restoring of the 1.1.4 and below firmares, unless of course your iTunes has been Pwned prior to the restore. For Windows users, restoring to 1.1.4 from 2.0 requires that you either completely uninstall iTunes 7.7 and reinstall iTunes 7.5, or first Pwning your iTunes 7.7 before attempting to perform the restore. wink.gif

*read my other post* or the original one at forum neowin.net

do not completely uninstall itunes and the other apple software component, just itunes, or u will end up getting exclamation mark for the usb device in device manager, and the device won't be recognized.

there are many video tutorial in youtube to address this problems, i watched the one that show, using iPod touch, and other tutorial how to enter dfu mode, etc.

after uninstall 7.7 do not forget to delete itunes folder in My Music (in My Documents)

Not necessarily, mate. wink.gif As long as you have iTunes 7.5 installed after that, the phone will automatically install its own DFU driver in Windows whether or not it's on 1.1.4 or 2.0, because all iTunes versions share and recognize the same DFU drivers. As long as there's the AppleMobileDevice.dll service running. The exclamation mark and USB driver errors only come because there's no service to recognize the device in DFU mode.

In other words, it's safe to completely uninstall every single speck of iTunes 7.7, but be sure to reinstall iTunes 7.5 and reboot before putting your phone into DFU mode nod.gif

Quoted from Sleepers.net : Now that you have iTunes 7.5, you will still have the DFU driver for 7.7.

Actually, anyone who's not having any pleasant moments at all on the 2.0 firmware (like me, except I've got monkeys in bubbles to humour me laugh.gif) can also opt not to go through the trouble of downgrading back to 2.1, but instead wait it out a little longer till 2.1 is released. It's not gonna be too long from now, with the stockpiling amounts of complaints users have been lodging worldwide to Apple regarding the crashes and heavy lags. So it's gonna be double duty work in a short matter of time anyways. Why bother?

The DFU driver is actually Apple Mobile Device Support, the 7.7 AMDS could recognized 1.1.4 and 2.0.

If u uninstall everything and install 7.5, you'll get AMDS that comes with 7.5. 7.5 AMDS could not recognized the 2.0.

Correct me if i am wrong.

Just too much work to downgrade to 1.1.4 if you're already on 2.0 firmware and iTunes 7.7

Just use Winpwn and unlock and jailbreak your iPhone.
Follow the instructions here : http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1572

Make sure you're in DFU mode (if you follow the steps correctly, the iphone will look like its turned off) to restore the custom built 2.0 firmware generated from Winpwn.
