Plot

Long ago, the continent of Akanea was invaded by the Shadow Dragon, Medeus. A youth, called Anri, slayed the Shadow Dragon with the divine Falchion sword, and 100 years have passed since. Now Akanea faces another attack from the resurrected Medeus, and the world once agains slips into destruction and despair. Amongst it all, Cornelius, the king of Altea and successor of the heroic Anri, sets out to battle with the Falchion in hand. Meanwhile Marth, the prince of Altea, awaits his father's return as he passes his days with his martial arts training..

Gameplay

Shin Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Ken retains the fundamental gameplay mechanics of the Fire Emblem series, with a few differences. Some of these mechanics, such as the weapon triangle, were not present in the original Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Ken, but have been included in this remake. The game will feature over 20 character classes, including armoured Knights, airborne Pegasus Knights and Priests wielding recovery staves.

For the first time in the series, players can battle each other online via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. These battles employ teams of up to five characters from the single-player campaign, including the possibility of "rental" characters. The combat takes place on multiplayer-exclusive battle maps, which allow free movement as opposed to the Link Arena in prior games. Only two players can do battle at a time. A time and turn limit are also active.

Fully titled Fire Emblem: New Dark Dragon and the Sword of Light (the English translation is our own -- Nintendo has yet to give the game an official English name), this first DS installment in the storied series is actually a remake of the original Fire Emblem. The basics of the game aren't being changed much from the original and its sequels as players alternate between event scenes and strategic battles.

There's one big difference here: online play. Developer Intelligent Systems is making use of Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connect service to give the title long distance multiplayer -- a first for the series. You begin an online battle by first creating a team using up to five units that you've built up in the single player story mode. Battles take place over versus-specific maps.

On the official site (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/yfej/index.html), Nintendo states that they may not release FE:DS in America/Europe.

if it has online play, do you think there will be a feature whereby the player able to set a time / move else the game will takes like forever.

Somehow the game feels different than the other Fire Emblem that I had played (Sacred Stone, Blazing Sword, Sealed Sword).

Yeah it's a re-make of the old Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem.

Too many characters... I'm getting dizzy... @___@
