Previously it was hot on topic like Jailbreak and Unlock tools . Wonder my 3G Iphone which newly bought , eventhought i have switched to MAXIS SIM and the top left corner "no service" but the function ( APP ) still useable without any Jailbreak or Unlock done on it so do i still need to Jailbreak it ? ... *USA set AT&T This post has been edited by tayhaithian: Jul 25 2008, 08:54 AM

no point to jailbreak unless you want to install thirdparty apps which I think not many available. I strongly believe that your iPhone already activate but still locked with at&t network. FYI, there is no software unlock for 3g iphone at the moment and maybe will take longer bcoz this new iPhone 3g have diff BL etc. Evnthough, there is some news that iphone 3g can be unlock through x-sim which is found by brazillian hackers but it can just use edge only. That is why, official unlock iPhone 3g like from nz, australia and few others from europe is more better option to buy. And I also strongly believe, software unlock could take at least earlier next year to be found.

Quick question. Assume the phone does get unlocked illegally.
When/If Apple decides to issue new firmware updates [or whatever updates], would the phone need to be unlocked again if U updated it?
And what about on an authorised unlocked set?

authorized unlocked set or known as a legal unlock iphone, can upgrade easily without hassle because your iphone imei was keep by Apple as a legal unlock. Regarding for illegal unlock, well from the past, most of the time u must redo unlock again when there 's a new fw upgrade.

TS, progress has been made in the 3G iPhone unlocking scene. The baseband has been successfully extracted and is now being scrutinized by the same people which brought us the unlocks for all the previous firmwares. Apparently though, according to this report, they've recognized their first major obstacle which is the 3G Infineon chip used in the iPhone 3G. Won't go into detail, but it has been said clearly in their reports that finding an exploit on the bootloader alone will not suffice this time.
