I remember there's an app that allows you to put your phone into sleep mode if your sleep/wake button is spoiled..
But I don't remember the name |

Be wary that there's a difference between Recovery Mode and DFU Mode
Recovery Mode : - Done by holding Home button while connecting the dock connector - Screen will display iTunes icon and the USB cable connector - Can be reversed back to normal mode using certain command lines or applications like iBrickr and ZiPhone DFU Mode : - Done by FIRST docking the iPhone, then holding both the Sleep/Wake & Home button for 10 seconds, before releasing ONLY the Sleep/Wake button and continue holding the Home button until your Mac/Windows PC sounds an audible beep signifying a new USB device - Screen will display NOTHING, as if it were switched off. iTunes will still recognize it in 'recovery mode' - Cannot be reversed or kicked out of, MUST be restored in iTunes Hopefully this helps clarify any confusion which may have been on anyone's minds regarding the 2 different modes. |

QUOTE(gengstapo @ Jul 27 2008, 06:07 PM) ZiPhone would have the most simple and elegant solution, with the big "DFU Mode" button in the GUI. But apparently it didn't work for me, and kept throwing it into Recovery Mode for some reason unknown to myself, had to use iBrickr to kick it out of it. To differentiate between the 2 modes, the iPhone will not have anything on the display when it's in DFU mode, as if it were turned off. It's worth a shot though, as there's still no better method to do so. Good luck! |

^hmm, really? if u were in 2.0, ziphone cant bring the phone into DFU mode. but some fella here claim it working. ive try myself before, i just leave my phone almost 10minutes, & the phone still "hang" at recovery mode. dunno how the fella makes it works IF he really using 2.0 by the time he used ziphone.
thats what i find.. |

I believe he's referring to the stage of putting his 1.1.4 phone into DFU mode prior to the upgrade to 2.0, mate thats what i find.. |

QUOTE(SheepMekk @ Jul 28 2008, 12:02 AM) There you have it, TS. 2 alternate solutions to your problem, a simple choice between ZiPhone or +iLiberty, both widely available online. One of which is bound to help you with you DFU dilemma. P.S. How'd you 'break' your Sleep/Wake button? And by 'break', is it physical damage or the button no longer works? I shiver at the thought of having to leave your phone on at all times or having to switch it off after every call and message. It'd be a living nightmare for any phone's battery lifespan... |
