I suspect it's a 'standards' and/or 'safety' issue. probably wondering what it is used for...

If you were to follow the T-Amp thread in the audiophiles section you would know that,
a high efficiency speakers are reqd ie in minimum of 86dB/W/m. If do not know what these figures meant time to do some googling and start reading The amp board has been pre-assembled with all the components. You just need a power supply and some container/housing if you want to. Then obviously a good set of speakers! Please do some reading. QUOTE(dlyz @ Oct 17 2008, 01:28 PM) Pardon me, normally how and with what type speakers is T-Amp used with? If no experience DIY, is it advisable to take this sort of amp? king coolice,
if your speakers are what we call a high efficiency speakers, meaning it is producing more than 86 dB/W/m, then T-Amp will have no problem driving it! |

As long as the 'normal' bookshelf speaker sensitivity is medium to high. That's more than 86dB/W/m.
Power supply can be in the form of linear PSU or even SMPS (Switched Mode Power Supply). Too much to swallow? QUOTE(Lefty @ Jan 7 2009, 11:03 PM) |

The holes are obviously for ventilation and cooling. Why worry about dust when it doesn't affect the operations? With smaller holes, it doesn't guarantee there wont be any dust settling, and come on, dusts are really really small for heaven sake.
At any rate, you're going to house the SMPS and the T-Amp in a proper casing. QUOTE(mm004 @ Apr 21 2009, 11:34 PM) Hi, I'm very interested in your T-am complete build up set. But I'm a total newbie and don't know much about electronics! From your picture, I saw that the SMPS has a metal mesh as cover. But the holes on the mesh are quite big, it seems dust can get into it quite easily! Can U use metal mesh with smaller holes? Pls don't mind if I sound a bit silly 'cause I'm so used to those mini hi fi set. Thanks! |
