Since the removal of the Tumpang thread to Bulk Order section, I am cancelling all the orders and am extending my apologies to the 15 people I have promised to get your iPhones for you. I am a man of my promise, and one of my promise was the cancellation of the Tumpang, if it is deemed as other than its intended objective. I guess not many get the idea I'm trying to project here.

I cannot believe that I have done similar Tumpang threads with the exact same intentions during my trip to NYC and Osaka with no fuss, and yet met with this mess and mayhem. I should have known better I guess, people here don't want to be helped.

To Tishaban, Neekun, Psyeo, ronasdfghjklzxc, crxr, Ken6800, pop_enygma, Baretta, Hanxz, Zaakath, harmeet15, Xero700, and friends, my own personal apologies.

To those on the standby list, I'm sorry as well.

Peace, out.

I am sorry for giving people hope, and that hope is taken from them, although not by my own doing. It is out of my hands now, I can only offer so much.

i like the tumpang threads u had organised before. eventhough i'm not participating in the tumpang, i really like to see it. and this iPhone thread is the most suitable place for it.

in the spirit of tumpang-menumpang.

Can't even dream of having an iPhone 3G now unless I fly to NZ?!
Kinda expected this to be ruined by those sellers who want to make ridiculous profit from their so-called 'Unlocked iPhone 3G'.

I'm sure this is a disappointment for many of us who are desperate to get hold on the iPhone 3G... Stringfellow has always been so helpful, I can still remember months back when I had my hands on the 1st gen iPhone and having problems with Celcom, he was the first to offer his help.

What a pity!

wow... this literally sucks. i'm sorry stringfellow, i think i'll do the same thing if people misunderstood my intentions. it saddens me that you got your feelings hurt while trying to be nice & helpful. urghhh.... why can't people just let other people be? the image of 'someone' gloating sickens my mind.

i'm a person that tends to avoid confrontation, but seriously, the iphone 3g's price by local sellers is outrageous & some are not even legally unlocked. people should NOT buy even if you have the money, then probably they'll price it rationally. maybe a group boycott will send the message across.

ETA: for rm4200, you better buy a coach airplane ticket to nz & buy an iphone 3g yourself. at least you get to travel. it's crazy to think that buying a flight ticket & purchasing the phone on your own is a more wise way to spend your money.

Local seller is one thing, local mod who dont know to handle situation also one thing. Just remove thread without refering to TS or majority voice from iphone user.

It has nothing got to do with red eye or what so ever. Its just the board rules and I've kindly asked the thread starter weather if its a sales related thread or not. I truly understand his noble motives but then you must understand the board rules. Its just that. Its not my intention to interrupt any tumpang threads.

Rules are rules, if its commercial, it belongs to a specific section. This was commercial because money exchanged hands.

Perhaps the better question to ask would be why did he close it just because we moved it in accordance with the rules? 15 people had already 'signed up', so whats the reason behind shutting it down?

And if you think we're jealous, I can assure you that we're not. The person who moved the thread and myself are both in Australia (where they sell the new iPhone 3Gs).

Emotional, by definition, is an action that was driven by emotions or feelings as opposed to reason and logic.

My post was backed by persuasive reasoning and logic - that the thread was moved in accordance with the rules, and that I'm not jealous (like what was suggested by some posters here) because I can literally walk out tomorrow morning and buy an iPhone myself.

Hackers and exploiting unlock software is another thing. They don't expect any form of payment , just donations by those who want to support the hackers. Its like comparing apples and oranges. Its not just we are jealous on your sales thread. Its very simple , it just doesn't follow the board rules. That is all about it and it was moved to the appropriate section. You should question the thread starter on the reason why he wanted to close his thread !

I actually have no problem with the mod's actions, HOWEVER it's also up to stringfellow to continue with the tumpang or not. No need to 'question' why he cancelled it. Doing a tumpang thread is a lot of work, requires time, energy & a whole lot of preparation. So if the motivtion isn't there, no one should feel incline to do it. The biggest loss is only for the community & in the end the 'opportunist' sellers win in a sense, which is my BIGGEST problem with the whole thing.

Frankly, i rather stringfellow continue with it but that is up to him.

Yeah I think the way I see it. Even though is the rule to post stuff at the sales thread. String put it in the apple thread just for the really apple enthusiast to come and get the stuff. Just my two cents. Sorry for everyone lost. Hopefully string doesn't lose faith in the forum. Continue to help the less fortunate/money people.

Well, in any case as one of the "tumpang-ers" I am disappointed. However, I understand that this was a tumpang thread and there was no major personal gain involved.

Whatever Stringfellow's intentions in retracting his offer, I respect his decision. It was made very clear from the beginning that this was a non-commercial proposition and if Stringfellow wants to cancel it for whatever reason then it is his perogative to do so.

Thanks in any case String, perhaps next time eh?

previous tumpangs, no one 'complained'. Maybe instead of being noble, stringfellow should start a sales thread rather than a tumpang one. That would be an awesome 'attack' back at the sellers. Ahaha....

I believe that if this happens offline, it wouldn't be regarded as a bulk order. It's more of a " Hey, you going NZ? Mind getting me a set of iPhone. It's okay if you can't. I understand. But thanks" rather than " iPhone in stock for sale. Offer me"

Guess we'll have to travel there ourselves or place our hopes on one of our telco

but yeah it's mod's decision. thank you.

This just pisses me and everyone in this thread. Too bad String can't reply since he just left paris (6.00 pm) just now. Hopefully he dont stress out.

sorry mod but i have to say this...

please understand the defination for tumpang and Bulk sale.im not trying to say whatever but try to understand this.

Bulk sale= gather buyers, make order and gain profit.
tumpang= Tumpang and make order, thread starter is just doing his favour, no profit gained.

rules make by people, it doesnt mean that rules is suitable for all kind of situation, i dont think that so called " rules" by mod is suitable this time

sorry mod but this time i dont think u're wrong, and u make all the hell of us damn angry...

Sorry for butting in - but mod if you read this you should think a bit.

Some kind soul is helping us helpless souls to get iPhone 3G's so that we can ENJOY it without some 1-million-airhole guy to come and interrupt just because he wants to earn money..

If you can prove that string is trying to reap profit from lyn-ers, mod, please show calculation and total profit gained, percentage and etc?

If you can produce these I think we will keep quiet, but if you can't..

.. you know what? Let's just complain and complain until you guys let us do it?

the ai-as-yay wont tangkap one, if he wants, he can sue me to court for false accusation smile.gif

its cocklea that is reserving the stock...

we can't blame the mod themselves as they are just enforcing the rules, but to the fuker who reported it.
look at all the previous tumpangans not just here but also in the audiophile section...
nothing happens cuz nobody is drawing flak from it
everyone is happy but i guess some slanderous person is behind this pile of shit.

the main suspect here is ajul no doubts about that but hey anyone can report, hope he rots in real life then smile.gif

@prasys,
We totally understand the board rules and the need for it except as explained to you when U asked, the thread wasn't a sales related thread - it was merely a thread offering personal favours.

@RBR,
As mentioned, I totally understand the rules but U can't say this is commercial just because money exchanged hands - string mentioned he might be travelling to NZ and we asked for a favour - he told us he'll keep us updated when his trip is confirmed and he did. If ur friend asked U to purchase him something from Australia, I'm quite sure U would ask him for cash upfront; especially when the item is going to cost U RM3k, isn't it?!

This isn't the 1st time he's offered to make purchases for us on his travels but this is the one time with overwhelming response - due to the newly introduced product which is unavailable here in MY.

I'm sure his generosity and kindness was extended only to those on AppleByte because we'd developed a 'friendship' through this channel. Am quite sure he wasn't going to start offering to make purchases for just about any strangers; y go through the trouble?!

@everyone else,
We should just respect the Admin/Mod's decision; am sure each has a set guideline to follow. The difference is in the interpretation of the guideline - we might not consider this a sales thread but the Mod/Admin who moved it might have interpretated differently. This situation really sits in the grey area so there's no right or wrong.

Also, we shouldn't start finger-pointing.

exactly the reason why the thread was intended only on apple byte & not the bulk section.

Hmm... Maybe Mods should concentrate on Trade Forums for "people" selling items, such as Apple products through unauthorized means.

Anyone wants to look through some Apple product sales threads and report them to Apple Malaysia?? I bet they are NOT authorized resellers.

Hi Tinkerbel...i subscribed that thread, and usually checked in the thread subscription list under my control panel for new post. But couldn't find it today already.

Guess that if it has been moved to the bulk section, i have to go to the bulk and search it again, then subscribe it again right? blush.gif

Cause his intention is not Sales in the first place, it was just a favor to us, Apple Byte regulars.

If I was him, I wouldn't want to be branded a seller too when I am genuinely offering it as a favor.

And not forgetting the attitude of some people just annoys the hell out of everyone.

@Kenix L
well if u started up something and had so much work gone into it and suddenly its been moved somewhere of cause he got no enthusiasm to do it any more.. it stops his "semangat" not to mention he has to travel to different places in NZ to do the favor.

Yea, just ask someone to go Midvalley, then One Utama, then Sunway Pyramid, and then Sungei Wang, then even just to Lot 10 across the street, carrying those things around, or just leaving it in the car risking it being stolen and see if it's worth it.

Along the way just one "accident" and that's it. GONE!

Brother civic, i don't mean he is looking for reward in terms of money...but rather the appreciation of his great help to our people here. And it is not difficult to understand that since he is not doing it for profit, so he does not want to be label as iphone 3G seller.

Yea I know what you mean. Actually we were quite surprised his tumpang thread became like this (I was VERY surprised his tumpang thread became such an issue, I wasn't following the thread from the beginning, till someone told me about it), cause the last time he did, EVERYONE was very very appreciative of his effort.

So obviously something changed this time.. Some "black sheep" was around I suppose.

I know a whole bunch of you are anti-establishment, and i don't blame you for posting the way you did. But, have you heard of the phrase "Damned if you do, Damned if you don't"?

The mod team makes unpopular decisions every day. The fact that it is unpopular, doesn't mean that it is wrong. There are proper channels for trading, and it's explicitly stated in our R&R to which should be well known to a member as old as stringfellow.

Anyway, a perfectly acceptable resolution was taken in this case, which was to move the topic to bulk orders. With a courtesy redirection note even. If that stringfellow guy is unhappy with that and closes his bulk, that's his call, not ours.

The decision will stay. You might not think it's a big deal to allow one topic here, but the moment we set the precedent, others will follow. Bet you didn't see that. The favorite justification used is "But i saw the other guy do it too, why didn't you stop him?!". Heh.

If you have further comments, open a topic in the forum feedback section.

Perhaps if I totally withdraw the RM100 for the fee of getting those iPhones, then whoever's behind all this jealousy and mayhem could not draw any ammo and not draw the conclusion of a "sales thread" and/or such.

My faith is shaken, but I draw my hopes and renewed faith from those who understood me. You mods may have a regimented rules and guidelines to follow (the very reason why I declined a mod post years back, because I'd rather act base on what I feel is right, not what others have deemed as right, that is borderline Communist), but you are acting based on hard and fast rule that have grown irrelevant to the issue at hand.

Definition: Seller. Someone who sells an item, and gains profit margin out of the item he sells. A seller is also obligated to provide after sales support to the items he is selling, as the result of the profit he took out on his purchasers.

Me? I do not sell, I do not provide any aftersales support, my mistake that I saw here that enables "jealous sellers" to report the Tumpang is that I illicit RM100 for the purchasing fee. If I withdraw that RM100 fee, then there's not a single reason to call this a sale, or even a bulk, now is it?

And THIS is the reason why I dont post in BULK, see what kinds of responses you get from those people who frequents the BULK section

I made very unpopular posts and statements EVERY TIME I post, because I find posts posted in this forum revolves around the mundane, the baseless and the useless. Malaysians rather save face, than tell it outright, because it is our custom to be polite and not to shame the other person. I am not that person, and please dont talk to me about unpopular decisions or posts here, I LIVE that life around here, if you care to look around my post history.

Lastly, to the Unlucky 15, you got PM, I'm providing an alternative solution for you. I'd like to ask those who I have PMed to keep this "solution" to themselves, and I'll be using this "solution" the next time a Tumpang opportunity arises. Don't want this kind of mess to come up again, and the mods to be put into place exercising their discretion, or lack thereof.

I've looked into the PMs and IMs I've received, and I realized one thing: It is easy to give in to the pressure, but it takes a bigger person to persevere. And I'm choosing to do the latter. Those "jealous bastards" can kiss my arse for all I care, but the Apple Byte community is based on communionship and the spirit of helping each other, and I am just fulfilling my civic duties. No mods, or black-hearted mongrels can stop me from doing that.

This is MY thread, and I'll close it when I'm done with. And now, I'm done.

Peace, out.
