Hey Guys,

I've got the U Mobile SIM Card, but I havent activated it yet, meaning I have not use it. The problem was when I signed up they told me it is a prepaid, but when I called U Mobile the first time this morning, she said she couldnt check whether it is prepaid/postpaid for me unless I activate my card (strange right?). Then I asked about termination, she said I could not terminate unless it is activated. TRICKY!!!! LIES?

Nvm, I called the second time, another gal told me my card is most probably postpaid coz I indicated there was a form which I signed!
But when I asked will I be charged if I didnt activate the SIM card, she replied NO
My worries are by the end of the month, they will send a postpaid month bill.
Please advice, coz she said if I wanted to terminate the account I need to go to their service counter.

Question?
Should I terminate it? OR
Should I just let it be since the SIM card is not activated at all. It is still attached to the original card.

Thanks in advance, everyone. cry.gif

Better not take the risk . Its very risky. Suggest you go direct to their shop and terminate it immediately.

Hi, where you get your card? Where is your location? Did you ask how to activate? Which number your call? If prepaid, it comes with a starter pack. Thanks.

Get it from Taman Connaught, Cheras.
The activation is basically to use it - according to the gal on the phone.
I guess its better to go to their service counter to terminate it.

Did they take ur IC and photostate on the day u get ur simcard? If yes then most probably they register postpaid behind of you, and when the bill comes, u don have to pay, but first make a complain to NCCC or MCMC first. So when they send u the bill, u don have to pay. Nothing to worry because it is our comsumer right~

Yes, I got nothing to be afaird of, its not my fault is the first place and why should I pay the bill? Even for credit card, they did charge annual fees with their FREE FOR LIFE* and they didnt state their terms and conditional in the first place, so ended up being chargedand after making a complain to their cust service, they waived the fees. U Mobile is a new Telco and i doubt they will force their customer to pay those unescessary fees and if the user were to complaint they still have to waive it no matter what.

Dont worry, what you need to do now is visit http://www.nccc.org.my/ and send an E-mail to the Presiden of NCCC Mr. Darshan and seek solution from him. He should be able to guide you. Don't need to be afraid of it because there is a Forumer who fall into the same trick like you, U Mobile should be responsible of such cases because it is affecting the company's image and these people are taking your IC and photostate it and register for a postpaid account without your consent and it is illegal to do so. It is like taking your IC and borrowing money from a loan shark. What I suggest you to do is make a complaint to NCCC and U Mobile. Tell U Mobile that you are taking this matter seriously and already make a complain to NCCC, make sure they terminate the account and make a record of your E-Mail, calls, who you spoke to, time etc. Every bits is important smile.gif

Good Luck~

1. Kindly report the shop that you suspect that they register postpaid for you, and yet, you haven't answered me that whether yours is a starter pack or not,

2. Do you know your number? shocking.gif Call 1318

3. You can cancel if you feel cheated by signing up Postpaid

@chicaman , your suggestion may be good if TS did not realise, but TS is suspecting something, and you said, going to wait for the BILL shocking.gif , and go complaint? isn't this is just want grabbing The Sun headline?

TS, since your location is near Cheras, I preferred you talk to 1318 first again, if you did so, and head to Berjaya Times Square (if necessary_ , remember it is inside where got place you can sit, and settle all there

018 prepaid starter pack should look like this.

user posted image

Behind of the pack should have the expired date like 31/12/2008.

The manual will say 018 Prepaid Userguide

Front of the Original card should have word PREPAID.

If your card is different, it's should be POSTPAID.

Reading the newspaper and it says that U-Mobile hit 100k registration, so now i see how U-Mobile CON the 100k registration, so far 2 forumer kena CONNED by them. I am sure there are more people out there having the same issue. No worries even if they charge u the commitment fees. Can always send the problem to Malay Mail and I am sure they are willing to shoot this out in the newspaper.

Because Malay Mail always disclose cases like this. The Star and Strait Times got no balls one la, anyway almost all Newspaper in Malaysia got no balls, all under control by govn.

Cases like this should be informed to the public so they can avoid the lame tactic~

Lucky you... if not need to pay commitment fee lor.... not cheap lor....

Commitment fee:

U38: RM38 x 18 months = RM684
U68: RM68 x 18 months = RM1224
U98: RM98 x 18 months = RM1764

If already use 3 months, then just minus 3 from 18 months.

Not all people will complain. Most said, takpe la.... let others complain. Some just continue use it to avoid pay the fine.

I going to terminate my celcom line coming Saturday. let see if they ask for any commitment fee. I use the line for 1 years already.

Guys I also have question,
I am using for 3 months Bundle Device + WiFi Broadband.
RM 68 a month. If I want to early terminate.
How do they calculate termination fee?

I heard from unofficial Umobile shop, they probably charge RM699 * remaining month/24 = balance
And they won't charge remaining month of unused data commitment.

Please advice.
