- the whole casino subplot. If the purple haired lady (vice admiral holdo i think?) had told Poe Dameron from the start regarding the plan to quietly escape to the deserted rebel planet, Finn and Rose would not have to go to casino in the first place. At the end of the day, the whole subplot ended in nothing because everyone went with the plan.
- animal cruelty message during the horse race scene. Too 'on your face' and forced. Unsurprisingly it was also part of the casino subplot. Bluerrghh
- Disney's blatant toy sale promotion with Porgs. Also, weird creatures dressed as nuns on the island. wtf? and Luke Skywalker aggressively drinking the milk. lmao.
- Rose kissed Finn on the lips without any romantic connection. ??
- no origin story for Snoke, no explanation on how he managed to lead/create The First Order out of nowhere in a very short time after the end of episode VI (the return of the jedi). He died very prematurely. But i have a feeling that it would not be the last time we're ever going to see Snoke. I mean, look at his face. It is as if he had his head cut into half before. lol. And he did mention that he was immortal, so there's that. And the supposedly force sensitive (not up to par with Jedi or snoke's power) Princess Leia escaped the certain death despite being frozen in space.
- no mention of The Knights of Ren. Maybe they will be the main baddies in episode 9? since it was first conceived in JJ Abrams' The Force Awaken and he will direct the next installment.
- explanation of Rey's parents. I mean yeah, it does make sense considering how they are pushing the narrative that anyone can be Force sensitive. But it sure was anticlimatic after years of speculations/theories.
- Rey in the underground cave scene. The mirror scene amounted to nothing. lol.
- the final battle is meh. main baddies shooting at Luke's illusion. then poof. could have benefited from an extra light saber battle scene.
- despite all the interesting plot points, at the end of the day, they are all inconsequential to the main plot. The resistance still managed to escape. The baddies still not defeated yet. nothing.
