The nostalgic Force is strong with this one.
Yes, it's the 7th instalment of the Star Wars franchise. The true sequel that die hard Star Wars fans have been waiting for since 1983. Watching the iconic Star Wars opening (A long time ago in a galaxy far far away... --> Star Wars Theme --> The Crawl --> Movie begins) for the first time in cinema is indeed a memorable experience. The Force Awakens returns to the root of Star Wars, the story of a commoner being called to an adventure and the story of good triumphs over evil. It's a tried and tested formula. No doubt, Star Wars fans, the fans of the original trilogy and those who experience the original trilogy from the 1970s to 1980s will love The Force Awakens. But by returning to the same formula, many will say this movie lacks originality. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Compare with the prequel trilogy, the storytelling and the flow of this movie is definitely better. It contains more laughter than any other Star Wars movie. In short, this is a fun movie. I think it's the little things that matter, they pack a lot of homages to A New Hope that certainly evokes a smile from the peoples who get it. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « That's why this movie is best view if you're familiar with the original trilogy before. That nostalgic feel when you see those iconic characters return to the big screen is priceless. Now the part that really trouble me: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The film makers cannot rely on nostalgia alone. For the sequel, they have to come out with something original, something new. The score: 7.5/10 from me, the feel of seeing the return of the characters we knew contributes a lot. If you want to have a better experience, watch the original trilogy first before watching The Force Awakens. This post has been edited by HITMAN316: Dec 19 2015, 01:00 AM |

QUOTE(ray148 @ Dec 19 2015, 12:59 AM) Ridiculous more like. The only way to redeem or explain her getting op suddenly is by pulling similar twist to KOTOR, but I doubt they'll do that. speaking of KOTORshe does look abit like bastila shan |

Lol many ppl forget jedi and sith are orders. That is. There are jedi who can use force lightning. They are called grey jedis. Jedis dont use lightning 2 reasons not taught or they dont believe in using it. Thats all.
There are no siths. The siths are destroyed. |

i like it with the trailer/poster/promo kinda "deceived" us dat we'll get to see Finn as the hero/next jedi/chosen one but only during halfway through the movie we realized Finn is the exact opposite from what the trailer/posters portrayed him to be(similar to Captain America:Winter Solder = deceiving title)

Am I the only one disappointed that JJ opted to continue these soap opera family feud/duel???
I know George Lucas meant it but I was hoping JJ to divert from all these elements. |

Looking at most negative comments, doesn't seems like they actually watched the prequel or have any attachment to the franchise.
At least watched episode 4, 5 and 6 la, baru feel. |

QUOTE(azarimy @ Dec 19 2015, 01:03 AM) Sith have that mind power which in return of the jedi vader can read luke mind about leia.. In Star wars rebel vader can penetrated other jedi. But with normal people he prefer intimidating and fear to do the job better. Emperor has the most mind power, which can easily corrupted jedi like dooku anakin. In which anakin underestimate palpatine power...if anakin cant best obi wan, he definitely cant win against palpatine at that time.About rey, she a good staff wielder... But ren is train in sword play. Its like ren dont have any talent in the dark art.i also kind of puzzle in that scene I hope the blu ray can add luke scene time more. |

I watched TFA at 2350 hrs last night, at GSC Paradigm Mall as it's just opposite my condo (but the movie only started at 0005 hrs, no thanks to many advertisements) and loved the whole movie!
No doubt some people noted the similarities to "A New Hope", which is true, but TFA makes it better with the introduction of a bunch of memorable new characters (Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo Ren, and that lovable BB-8) to complement the legends like Han, Leia, Chewie, and Luke. As well as the far more superior special effects + realistic explosions, and who can forget the iconic Millennium Falcon, X-Wing (the black one is so cool), and TIE Fighters all making lengthy appearances here? In fact, the Millennium Falcon followed me into the theater and here's a shot of it with the poster, haha! This post has been edited by THTgadgets.com: Dec 19 2015, 08:28 AM Attached thumbnail(s) |

No one has mentioned John Williams --
Haven't seen the movie nor heard the music until now -- listening to 'Rey's theme' on streaming and i got goosebumps - John Williams' creativity and genius knows no bounds ... if the plot is derivative of EP4/5 as i've read it - so be it - hopefully the music elevates the presumably mediocre screenplay and story as it has for the prequels for me - JW's music helps to make watching the prequels a pleasant experience. |

I really like Kylo Ren. I feel unlike previous villains, he's not one dimensional. Vader, Maul, Dooku and Sidious were all the same. Calm and composed. Kylo starts off similar, he looks calm and composed but as the film progress, you witness him throwing his tantrums and you get the feeling he's a little unhinged. When he removes his mask revealing himself, it becomes clear to you that he's just a kid.
He's an emotional wreck, tremendously conflicted. As a Solo, he's talented with the Force but not nearly a finished product. He's not really skilled with the saber, and mentally he's quite weak; quick to lose temper and easily flustered. There's a lot of room for his character to grow. And being an unstable individual means he could go either way. |

hold on.. just like in ANH... all revealed/answered in ESB & ROTJ... the father/son Jedi/Sith... in epi 4-6 we don't even know the "Sith" nothing was mentioned until the prequel, just we knew "Darkside of the Force" is not stronger but full of lies & deceit when Luke asked Yoda, "is the darkside stronger?"
I believe when Kylo speaks about Snoke is Wise, reminds me of Darth Plagueis the Wise, Snoke mentioned he will complete Kylo trainings. Another same round & round storyline... Darth Sidious uses the name Palpatine & none of the Jedi master could tell, not even Yoda. As for Rey, he met Luke & she will be trained I believe by Luke. I like to see in the coming episodes Kylo how sith lord train their apprentice. Yes, kinda disappointed very less original SW theme were played, only Leia's... when Rey & Kylo completes their training, we shall see more! we learned something many Jedi master turned to the darkside & they are only apprentice, this is the sith pattern of 2, only a master & an apprentice.
