If you looking for jedi fighting scene like in the episode 3, you will be disappointed. kylo ren is powerful but a disappointment. It is better for him to keep his mask. I was hoping he is totally in the dark side rather than a torn apart between two sides.

the final fight almost like the duel between Vader and Luke..Luke just go mad..luckily he managed to calm himself before anything 'darkside' happened..

IMAX 3D once again gave me somewhat pixelated images. Sat at row 'F', and I could clearly see the images were pixelated.

Overall, IMAX 3D - a disappointment. However, I believe this won't be an issue if you either sit in the last row or the second last row.

Watching in Digital 2D, should not be an issue (from past experiences).

It will be a big no from me if in the future I can't secure last row/2nd last row seats for IMAX 3D.

As for the 3D experience itself - there were some 3D moments in the movie, especially when the Star Destroyer scene moving towards the screen. That was the only epic one! A true 3D moment. Flying particles especially fire.  The rest, not really. You won't miss out on a lot if 2D is chosen over 3D.

Atmos should be one helluva experience. Atmos 2D should be amazing!

Yup - the only high resolution images you get is from the Imax countdown intro shown before the feature.

The layout of these mini-Imax halls really could benefit from some distancing away from the screen and increasing the height between rows - my view ALWAYS encounter some obstruction from the audience's head in front of me (the taller/long-necked/big haried ones).

So my criteria for the price they charge is - like yours - further away from the screen, sequences filmed with Imax cameras, 3D.

As for Star wars in 3d - you don't know REALLY bad 3d conversion until you've seen 'phantom menace 3d'... the most pointless conversion ever..

Totally re-enact 4-6. Nothing new.
This movie is made to serve the fanboys.

If it stray too far off like 1,2,3 everyone complaint, when they stick to the formula, at least the fanboys will appreciate

a total let down

personal rating 6/10 (this is inclusive of fanboys points)

1 - Kylo is given such a grand opening doing feats like stopping blaster with force alone and have it staying mid air. but turn up to be an emo kid. hopefully the actor grow up more and does not look like an emo teenager anymore in epi8/9

2 - Captain Phasma stock went down the drain. This is just like dinobots all over again. You can replace all her scene with a stock Imperial officer and the story still's the same. she's included so that there's more toys for hasbro to sell

3 - Poe pull a deus ex machina and return back alive. He left his mission (BB8) and return back to resistance base. No wonder he's so happy to see Finn because Finn bring back his mission

4 - Rey. no backstory whatsoever. hopefully it will not be another spinoff (eg rogue one) for Disney to milk more money

5 - Poor story telling. Luke went MIA and leaves a map behind? A map that is incomplete to the resistance but is complete (sort of) to the FO?

6 - Starkiller needs a star to power up. How many planets in their galaxy with more than 1 Sun? Suck up a Sun -> fire it -> no more Sun to power up -> abandon it and build second Starkiller? Might as well build 5 Deathstar with that resources

7 - Laughable saber battle scene. at least still better than 2,3,4,5,6. no more face showing with saber spinning scene repeated x times for screen time. well, at least the story support this poor fighting scene by injuring Kylo before the fight and have him fight 2 immature

to me its a 9/10

1 point being it is what star wars should be about. just like good old ep 4-6.
1 point being solid music scores and nice picturesque backdrop. gorgeous
1 point being the old cast is back
1 point being BB8. Lovable Driod
1 point being awesome flight chase scenes and star ship battles.
1 point being strong chemistry between rey and finn , hopeful starlets to carry the future star war series.
1 point being the movie is fun and great pacing
1 point being the ending is such a cliff hanger
1 point being that i look forward to the next episodes hoping it willbe even better.

I just watch ep. 7 yesterday.. The super weapon, aren't that interesting compare to how they approach the original death Star in 4 & 6.. And then where is the other frigates..class cruiser... Calamari cruiser..a wing y wing or bwing or any new type fighters. In return of the jedi, all fighters were shown..yet on 7 only tie n xwing sad.gif.

Han solo scene, well mix feeling... I wonder if in the end they will kill leia than ben. That would be sad.. Or leia lose han and ben in 8 or 9. That would be something rights... Like gone nut nuts..

Rey and ren potrayal of light and dark Side for me is very positive.. I just cant wait how they would proceed with the training. I believe snoke is a darkside but not from sith lineage..probably darkside has split into many groups.

In the end, i like the movies but it still cant best the original.. I am glad they make a sequels.. Hope they never stop doing it even if they milking my Money endlessly hahahaha..
