I was also thinking of taking my gf to a romantic/candle light dinner. I've promised her quite a while ago. But the only thing is I'm now in U.S. Won't be back till next year 1st quarter.

I'm just doing some research for future. It seems like LaFite is a nice place. But I peeped at their menu when I was having lunch at Lemon Garden @ ShangriLa few years ago and I the price was about RM500++ PER PERSON. I got a shock of my life.

But I'm glad you guys could share some of you favourite places to fine dine.

I've been to most of the restaurants you listed.

My favourite has to be Third Floor in Marriott.

LaFite... haha. A close friend of mine went there for dinner with 2 of his friends, the bill came up to RM11,000.
*
I'm not surprise why the bill came up to RM11k. Its LaFite.

@P.I.M.P./Pennywise,
Find a friend who holds the Shangri-la membership card.  U get 50% discount @ LaFite [lunch].  Dinner on the other hand is uhm... 20/25% discount I think.
*
How does one apply/get the ShangriLa member ship card?

Frangipani
25 Cangkat Bukit Bintang, 50200 Kuala Lumpur
Tel: (603) - 2144 3001

If I'm not mistaken, its had already closed down.

What kind of food you like ??

For me, LaFite is a great place to be but it can burn a hole in your wallet. RM300-RM400 per person for 7 course set dinner. Recommend bring Shang Card Along for discount. Not sure whether can use for dinner as normally i go there for lunch. Hehe.

Prego is a nice place to hang out too.
*
Yeah LaFite looks pretty cool & nice place to wine & dine. But I'm sure it'll burn a hole in your pocket if you're not ready. I'll dine there once if I have the chance.

tinkerbel,

Do you think its possible to ask any of the fine dining restaurants to arrange a special night for couples? As in arrange for something memorable? Have you tried it before?

@P.I.M.P,
I haven't been on a "romantic" night out for *cough cough* like ever so I realli don't know!  My take is that the restaurant CAN make some form of arrangements but it will be at your cost.  If it's something they oredi haf [a string quartet for example] U probably can get it FOC.

Once U've decided on the place perhaps U could call them up or go in and discuss with them in detail.  If U realli want something v romantic, perhaps U could consider renting a hotel suite and having dinner at the suite - go for the Villa's @ Sunway.

Let me go through the vouchers Shangri-la sent me together with their Prestige Platinum membership card.  I think there just might be an exclusive 'romantic escapade' package which includes a hotel stay + dinner for 2 @ LaFite.  I don't think it'll be of use to me - if U want, I guess I could sell it to U.

PM me if ur interested cause I need to check what the T&Cs are.  It might require me to make the bookings and pay for it in person but if it's Shangri-la KL, I'll make that trip just for U lah since it's ur special night smile.gif Am sure we'll be able to find a way to work around the T&Cs.

When do U intend to make ur move btw?!
*
Your package sounds good. But I think just a nice dinner night would be sufficient enough with the romantic setting. Honestly I've nvr been to fine dine before and I don't know what to expect. That's why I'm asking around my friends & on LYN. Hopefully this will give me more ideas.

I'm not in M'sia right now. Therefore, even if I want to make my move, I gotta wait till I'm back. And that would be beginning of next year. Haha. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

AHhH..... well U can do ur research now.. oK.. Ur not proposing - TS is EXCEPT he seems to be v much MIA of late.

Are U abroad studying/working?  Where?

AhHh.. I just checked the vouchers - there IS a special one called 'Lafite Suite'.  Bearer is entitled to a 1 night stay in a 1 Bedroom Suite with 2-course Candle Light dinner (for 2) & a bottle of champagne in the room for RM998++

TS - I've NO use for this at the moment - if U want it, just PM me lah.
*

Yeap. Just doing my research now. Gotta prepare the umbrella before it rains. I don't like last minute planning. Usually it'll screw up as far as I'm concern. Therefore, I always like to prepare in advance.

I'm studying in U.S. Graduating this December. And then see if there's any luck with job hunting here.

Wow, the "Lafite Suite" you mentioned seems like it will take my gf's heart & soul away. It'll definitely melt her heart IF I surprise her with that package. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

nod.gif And it's pretti 'cheap' too - I mean, just the room charges itself would probably amount to close to maybe RM1k p/night *shrugs*  Yeah I should sell it off for RM1.5k.. muAhaHAHahHA...

If U decide on it when ur back U know who to PM - the voucher's valid till Jul '09 and I've a feeling it will remain unutilised *grins*

Mind me asking; where in the USA?  And are U studying?
*
Oh we can work around the prices if I'm interested when I'm back. I know who to PM, you'll hook me up right. icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm in state of Nebraska, right in the middle of U.S. Its frigid cold in the winter and smoking hot in the summer (right now). I'm still studying, gonna grad in December. Can't wait till graduation. Kinda tired of books. icon_question.gif icon_question.gif
