Hi guys, im looking for an amp for my Rega ELA floorstander.
Looking for:
- Warmer sound (because my speaker is a bit bright sounding).
- Punchy bass (safer choice).
- Sweet and musical? Enjoy listening to music rather than analysing it, over detail and unforgiven is scary sometime.

Rega Brio 3: Natural choice for Rega speakers, The bass the Brio 3 serves up is speedy and disciplined, might suit PRaT (Pace Rythym And Timing) speaker like Rega Ela. But is a no-frills design. There are no tone or balance controls blink.gif Expensive (atleast for me) but dont come with remote.
Audiolab 8000S: Natural, detailed and balanced. Trsanparent and reliable, but some said its clinical sound.
Arcam Delta 290: Solid build construction, phono input, refined, warm sound? good value for money? (70Wpc) Consider an entry level high end amp ?
Creek: Creek is for sweeter sound again but lower power?
Sudgen: Cant find any Sugden here sad.gif Hope can test them out. Heard its really good value for money!!

Hi Yehlai

I have however owned the original ELA's. These are similar to the black pair you have shown. These were and still are a really excellent speaker for what they were at the time (a really good budget speaker). They really do deserve an excellent source and amplifier. There are actually a few variations of this early ELA around. The pair I had had a different bass driver for example. This was a really nice bass unit made for Rega by I think by Royd. You can tell this by the fact that it uses 6 or 8 screws to secure it to the cabinet as opposed to 4. I think some ELA's had flutes (grooves) along the entire front face of the cabinet.

These early Rega ELA's have their own fans in the UK. Some prefered it to the Naim speakers of the time and some reckon these early ELA's are the best speaker Rega have ever made.

I would love to get my hands on a timber finished pair of original ELA's one day!

Congrats on the purchase! thumbup.gif
I think the bass driver is a 'lil bit too small.. how's the bass reproduction?

Thanks bro, laugh.gif
Bass driver is smaller than BR2 and bass is weaker than BR2 also, more towards to clean bass i guess happy.gif
Its really made to play orchestra. Soundstage is nice, run dynamic and fast. Provide very realistic orchestra feel.
cymbals are clashin' arround me.

p/s: The Sifu and bro Ycs is ELA fans too, wanna share some review? Kindly let me know how much Ohm and Norminal output for the ELAs? Thanks!

have anyone match the Ela 2000 with Cayin A50T int tube amp???

going for this set but wabt to have some advice rclxms.gif

Hi likchan. You like the Ela 2000? but i think its easier to find it in Singapore rite? i was asking quotation from there before i found my Ela MK1.
Last time a seasoned audiophiles told me this Brit speaker can match with Rega's Brio (natural choice), Naim Nait 3 or Exposure amp. Coincidently he was looking for pre Ela 2000 that time.
As you might know that Rega speaker is rather natural then warm, so tube amp can be a good choice too. Wanna try your some old Ela? There are many old Ela's fans/owner in EU still claims that Ela Mk1 and Mk1.5 are still the best in Rega Ela series, just that its not easy to find in Malaysia.
