RealTemp is a temperature monitoring program designed for all Intel single Core, dual Core and quad Core processors. Each core on these processors has a digital thermal sensor (DTS) that reports temperature data relative to TjMax which is the safe maximum operating core temperature for the CPU. As your CPU heats up, your Distance to TjMax will decrease. If it reaches zero your processor will start to throttle or slow down so obviously maximizing your distance away from TjMax will help your computer to run at full speed and more reliably too.

OK,copy from ver.2 .60
Unzip RealTempBeta.zip and copy RealTemp.exe into your previous RealTemp directory and overwrite the old RealTemp.exe with the new one. You need the library files from the main download to get the beta versions to work

Just a minor update so that the System Tray status gets saved on exit. The System Tray Current, Min, Max, Avg, Distance to TJMax options are saved in the INI file so you'll get to look at the same info next time you start up RealTemp.

if you total the current temp + distance tj max, you'll get the maximum temperature for your processor...

er, i would say, (just to be safe la), maximum safe temperature, not maximum temperature smile.gif

Have a look in some tutorial HERE

Added on November 2, 2008, 5:48 pmRealTemp 2.83

This version should properly recognize and report the new Core i7 processors and properly read the TjMax information that is within them.
A new feature has been squeezed into the Settings window called Clock Modulation. It allows easy access to this feature that is built into Intel Core based CPUs. I haven't tested it on Core i7 yet but I think it will probably work on those too.

It allows you to run your CPU at a reduced power state from 12.5% to 87.5% of your normal CPU power.

RealTemp is a temperature monitoring program designed for all Intel single Core, dual Core and quad Core processors. It's compatible with Windows 2000, XP or Vista, 32 or 64 bit. In Vista or if you are in a limited account, you will need to right click on the icon and run RealTemp as an Administrator so that the driver will be properly installed.

So i set my tjmax to 80C already. But i dont get what relation it has with the accuracy thing.
After i changed the TJmax from 90 to 80, the readings seems to drop by a little, frm 44 to 29 minimum temp.
Its weird.

-incorrect multiplier being reported when running CPUID HW Monitor was fixed.
-Disable Turbo Mode option added for Core i7
-added the ability to toggle C1E and added EIST reporting.
-updated the RivaTuner plugin. The individual Load Meters require the main load meter to be active as well.
-added MultiBoost=1 INI option for any Core i7 board that is stuck at a 12X multiplier when using Windows 7. (DFI / MSI)
-added AverageMulti=1 INI option for Core 2 based CPUs which uses the same timers as Core i7 uses to accurately calculate the average multiplier over 1 second intervals.
-got rid of the "Not Responding" message during the XS benchmark.
-initial Core i5 support.

Real Temp 3.35
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/3/3/1794...ealTempBeta.zip

Lots of minor changes behind the scenes including better support for Intel's new socket 1156 CPUs as well as their new Core i7 mobile CPUs.
Changes include:
-the use of the i7 Turbo method to calculate the multiplier for all CPUs. If this causes a problem for older Core 2 CPUs that may have the internal timers disabled then you will need to add this line to the RealTemp.INI file to use the previous method:
MSRMulti=1
The new i7 Turbo based method when used on a modern Core i7 or i5 CPU with C3/C6 enabled in the bios will be able to show you the multiplier of the hardest working core which in my opinion and Intel's opinion, best represents how fast your CPU is actually working. This method also works well with Core 2 mobile CPUs that support Intel Dynamic Acceleration (IDA).
The i7 Turbo method allows Super Low Frequency Mode (SLFM) to be displayed correctly on the Core 2 mobile processors that support this feature. A multiplier of 3.0 at idle when this feature is enabled is typical.
-the elapsed timer has been fixed so it shouldn't lose time any more.
-a work around for an incorrect bios setting was found for the missing core issues that sometimes plagued Quad core owners.
-a Task Manager based load meter (TM Load) was added as an option. The original load meter is based on the percentage of time a CPU is in the C0 state which is very accurate for many CPUs. Mobile CPUs work completely different and this number does not accurately reflect the load of the CPU at idle so now you have an option.
-the XS Benchmark was changed slightly so now you can Cancel it while it is running and you shouldn't see any more, "Program isn't responding" messages when it is fully loaded testing.
-an option to display your temperatures in Fahrenheit was added. Just add this to your RealTemp.INI file.
Fahrenheit=1
-the Settings window has been reworked for better consistency in preparation for possible future upgrades.
-only maximum VID is displayed in the Settings window for Core 2 owners for less confusion. This option will display real time VID on the main screen.
-an option to Disable Turbo Mode on Core i5/i7 CPUs.

CODE
The only change was that the elapsed timer that I just improved for better accuracy was counting while in stand by mode which I didn't like so I fixed it. The RealTemp elapsed timer should only count up while the computer is running.

Real Temp 3.38

From developer:
QUOTE
I made some progress on updating RealTemp tonight to support the new Gulftown CPUs.
Internally they seemed to be organized as 2 x 3 core CPUs. If you download the above version of RealTemp and copy it into two different folders then you can go into the first folder and edit the RealTemp.ini file.
Use this:
Skull=1
and in the other RealTemp folder you can use add this to RealTemp.ini
Skull=2
Now run two instances of RealTemp, one from each folder and each one should be able to read 3 of your 6 cores. Not a perfect solution but at least it's a start.
It will read the correct TJMax from each core and should show the correct temperature.
After I get some feedback I will look into writing a 6 core specific version of RealTemp but hopefully this will keep users happy for a week or two.

Real Temp GT

http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/7/28/202.../RealTempGT.zip

From developer:

QUOTE
There are two versions of RealTemp in this download. If you have a new 6 core Gulftown CPU then try running RealTempGT.exe

It's officially called beta 3 but everything is hooked up now and I've done some testing so hopefully it is ready for prime time. If anyone has 10 minutes to spare, post a CPU Cool Down Test of these new 32nm sensors. I don't think they are quite as good as the excellent Core i7-900 series sensors but I'll have to wait for some retail processor testing about 6 months from now before passing final judgment.

If you see any bugs let me know.

When run on a Gainestown Dual Quad system, RealTemp GT should show the first 3 cores of each CPU. I'm using the numbering scheme 0 1 2 4 5 6 partially for this reason and partially because internally in the new 6 core CPUs, they are arranged in two groups of 3.

This program works fine on a Dual Core CPU but will only show 3 of your 4 cores if you have a single Quad. It's not designed for these so use the regular version of RealTemp.exe instead.

This new code is in RealTempGT.exe and hopefully by tomorrow I can add that code into the regular version of RealTemp
Thanks again for bringing that problem to my attention.

This is a bug fix version.

In SLI mode the GPUs should be labeled as GPU 1, GPU 2, GPU 3 etc.

The second bug is more serious and could result in a RealTemp crash when not using an Nvidia card by clicking on the Reset button in RealTemp. Both bugs are now fixed.

This version has improved ATI CrossFire support. I added a few more details like Clock and Memory speed, etc.
On my 5770 cards it's able to read the temperatures and details for each individual card.
If you have an ATI card or cards then you can try this new code by adding this to the RealTemp.ini configuration file.

GPU=2

I haven't heard back from any testers yet so give it a try and let me know if it works on your system or if you have any problems.
Wishmaker: Thanks for that tip. I found the easiest thing to do was to search through the Registry for EnableUlps and I changed each value to 0 to disable or to 1 to enable this feature and then did a reboot after that.

user posted image

RealTemp respects whatever setting you choose. If you don't like having access to the GPU 2 data blocked by the driver then set EnableUlps to 0 to get rid of that power saving mode. With a Kill-a-Watt meter I measured a savings at idle of 3 or 4 watts so it doesn't make a huge difference.

When both GPUs are reporting temperature data, RealTemp should display the highest current GPU temperature on the main screen and in the system tray.

If you don't have access to both GPUs then I found just starting Furmark was enough for the second GPU to wake up. You don't need to click on the GO button and start Furmark rendering, just having the GUI visible or minimized is enough to keep the second GPU awake for testing purposes. When EnableUlps is enabled, about 30 seconds after you close Furmark, if nothing else is using GPU 2 then it will stop reporting temperature and MHz data.

Hi,
RealTemp is really great!!! I’m using RealTemp 3.60. But I have a problem:
I tried a lot to get RT to Startup with Win7. I did a RT shortcut in
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
then I used “Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkits” to remove the UAC. This worked just fine, the UAC doesn’t bugs any more. But now there is a new problem, I couldn’t fix on my own. It seems that the program needs some driver, which can only be loaded when the RT is started as admin. I get the error message: “Driver Not Loaded Try Run as Administrator”
(by the way, when I do so manually it works).
Pleeeeease help me, I’m out of ideas how to auto startup RT.

[edit]
Ok, I found a way. It’s possible with the „Task Scheduler“. The Task Scheduler has the option to give the needed admin permission and startup RT during user login.
