Here's something to bear in mind when shopping for your PS3.

While looking around alibaba.com for videogame suppliers, I found some companies selling refurbished PS3s and other consoles.

So if you think you're getting a really good deal, be careful. I strongly recommend you stick to to reputable sellers here. When someone tries to sell you a 40GB PS3 console for less than RM1.3k, think carefully.

ya..VERY TRUE..this is the common tricks done by irresponsible dealers/sellers...the most common thing they do is change the original PS3 lens to the non ori ones,so they can sell the ori ones to other customers..

This is one of the major reason y a lot of PS3 users complaint about dead lens in jz couple of months,or even WEEKS!!!..so beware...

rm1280 is way way to low...we as dealers noe clearly tat this kind of profit(if sell at rm1280) will def not interest any game shop in selling PS3 consoles,unless the shop doesnt want to earn a profit...which i think is impossible.

Std market price should be around rm1350-rm1390...

but they doesnt noe tat all those Branded goods like Sony,Nokia,and etc are controlled by the respective companies...The world factory,China is jz in charge in manufacturing certain parts of the products,the real thing will still be assemble by SONY controlled factories which had pretty much standard price all around the world.

SO,MADE IN CHINA doesnt mean it's cheaper to buy from China...

the only trick distributor does is to play around with world money currency...

Owh... I had no idea they were gonna replace the 40GB model with the 80GB one... might consider waiting... heehee

quick question, what if the seller says warranty covers everything except lens, does that mean that the lens is fake then? they change the original PS3 lens?

Look like everyone said that the 80 giga ps3 is same price as 40giga ps3 now..at the sony conference, they selling at USD 399, which is RM 1302 (convert with market currency now)

In my opinion, malaysia havent launch on any ps3 yet, all machine is all supply from HK, SG or even japan... so i will estimate the price should be around USD 399 + Tax + delivery cost = RM 1400++ or might higher? ...we will see at this september, and i will let you all know the price when the 80 giga ps3 released.
Sony already lost profit on each 40 giga ps3 console, will sony reducing the price of 40 giga ps3 again? i think is not possible.
from the date of 40 giga ps3 release , the price is around 1400+ and untill now is around 1300++... in my opinion, the price is already fixed, maybe will drop RM 5~10 , or raise up RM5~10, is all depend on the supplier here..

and 1 truth answer is, whether your ps3 machine is original len or the fake lens.. within the warranty 1 year period... if your lens is spoilt or have other things no function well. ..you only have 2 choice.

1. sent back to HK, SG, JP, to claim warranty ... time period is 3 month to 6 month, shipping fees you need to paid by yourself which is around RM 250 above, and the repair fees is free. unless you bring your own ps3 machine go to the country and claim for a new machine. BUT.. what i know is, they will tell you where you bought, and want to see the receipt. If you cannot show the receipt, they wont claim for a new ps3 machine for free to you. This information, is truth, and is from my supplier regarding on the warranty. regarding about the receipt things, last time i already checked with sony ps3 at singapore there. they said that, must bring the retail shop receipt together then only can be claim.

2. Repair the lens within malaysia shop here, we have our own technician to change it, no matter your machine is WITHIN the warranty period, they will charge you in between 250 ~ 450 ...

ps3 console 40 giga, satin silver singapore set x1 is that a bundle set come with 1 power cable, 1 usb cable, 1 sixaxis silver contoller, 1 usb cable, everything is stated at the box there..
if the ps3 40 giga set comes with everything there,
some more have another
1x dual shock 3
and 1 more sixaxis ps3 white,
and 1x MTGS4 ps3 game
and without any hidden cost.
if you can get RM 1680,
then just go for it..

is extremely cheap.

yes it is cheap yet if i do bought now, later will feel rugi after hearing 80gb ps3 price d same etc . unless i am that rich can campak $$$ but not feeling rugi hehehe

Is there even a non-ori lens?I thought lens depends on ur luck not bcos of ori or non-ori(tht's wht tot31 said).He has experience in fixing and changing lens,so i think he should know.

So when is sony dropping the price for the 80gb one?

any good place to buy PS3 games in JB? will be around there on Sunday. so perhaps i can do a quick purchase there

As far as I know, here are the places in JB which sell PS3 games (the title selections are not impressive mind you)

i) Holiday Plaza, JB. Shop's name is FunWay. Next to KFC or hidden next to a staircase (all Lower Ground)
ii) A game shop in Tesco Extra (2nd floor), Plentong.
iii) A game shop in Giant Pulai Utama, Skudai.

I think want to get this set for my nephew..how much ya?
