that's definitely not a 1mbit connection. maybe you meant 10mbit, or 100mbit, or 1gbit. or some other numbers

did you also know, finland and sweden have one of the best lines in the world?

performance is their pride. position is our pride. as in, manager position. and money too.

so can anyone here confirm super slow rates to _certain_ international links.... but not microsoft.com, speedtest.net ?? torrents, many sites in europe, a lot of free file sharing sites... are all very slow.

and microsoft.com, some taiwan sites, are all fine, right? something like that... so damn hard to say which ones good which isnt.

dookiez: well, thanks for the information. I'm pretty picky with dslams, im current on a very old lucent dslam that supports only ADSL1. It's stable, except, I'm getting terrible SNR margin, but I don't know if its DSLAM related. I don't get disconnected anyway.

I'm from miri, and I got them to put me on this DSLAM so that I can enjoy better latencies (routed via sabah) than on Kuching route. Download rates in the beginning were nice, but it'd fluctuate up and down from 110-220kb/sec, do you think the ipdslam could do this better?

do you know anything about latency with ipdslam?

Lately, I think there's a bad gateway, or one that's throttling. What I used to get at 110-220kb/sec, I get 20-30kb/sec MAX now. Often worse.

What do you think? Should I get on IPDSLAM?

yes, i knew very well about a bad gateway on streamyx end as i did some tests with some who are not affected, we go thru the same international link, but different local gateways.

however, what i also found out was, here in miri, i was previously routed via kuching, and i requested and got them to put me on another dslam so that ill be routed to sabah. simple as that, they plugged me to another dslam, and im routed to sabah. well actually, i donno why i said this, but some dslams here have different routing.

now that theres a new ipdslam in my area, mind telling me what are the benefits of it over lucent dslam?

i actually have the number of those higher level 'technical' team. anyone want it? anyone wanna give those gateway people a ring?

you can't tracert in windows, but if you use third party tracing utilities or traceroute in linux, it should work just fine. well, although those ip numbers dont make much sense to me.

ok, so then... i should get on this ipdslam then... so it seems.. heh.
