Hmm, just recently too I've been getting this poor slowdown again that is only affecting torrent packets. Speaking of which, is anyone else receiving forced RST (tcp reset) packets from *cough cough* you-know-who..? Anyone else that is using a sniffer please help to confirm this.

Yep, getting it on my end too even through tunnels, except I am receiving some rst packets as gifts tongue.gif
If anyone else out there that can monitor incoming packets, I'd be happy to hear from you guys if you can confirm that this is happening.

i've been experiencing slow down for a week already.

slow loading Surfing web
BT max speed is 6kb/s  =/

What ip pool are you on?124?118?

QUOTE(MX510 @ Sep 21 2008, 07:08 PM)
The ip address 60.53 and 60.54 is not affected with the routing problem 124 and 118 is all affected
*
Agreed, I'm stuck on these two ip pools, can't get around it either. Checked routing to multiple places on the planet - bad speeds/pings/routing/etc. On the other hand, oddly enough, today my downloads from the ftp.freebsd.org server is "so so" peaking at around 90KB/s when I usually get 140+. I guess we just have to wait for a lil bit till they get their crap together.

Check for bt throttling <-- in the meantime, just for shits n giggles, you can check this.

Also, I should have also mentioned earlier that the rst packets only affect uploads. Secondly, my ssh and ssl *MIGHT* be throttled due to them giving a lower priority on encrypted traffic [which also will affect things like vpns if that is the case], but like I said, gotta wait for them to get off their ass. Anyone else here able to verify slower speeds on encrypted traffic? It seems that some people are still getting decent speeds for their torrents etc so it might be an issue that affects certain locations. You guys needs to also add in your posts what location you are at which might help, and mention whether you are getting good or bad speeds in that area so we can get a general overview and idea of what's going on.

I live in Klang, and i've been experienced very slow download speed for the whole GOD-DAMN week!!
The highest speed i have is around 10kb/s!
*
Welcome to the club. Btw, does that speed also apply to normal http downloads too? Or was that only for torrents or everything?

Update at 7:46 AM today..

last night at 8.15, a woman from TMNET called me up...

I told her again, that TMNET has 24 more hours left to solve the issue, failure which I will get a group of people that are already pissed with ips 118.100 & 124.13 with slow connection to US and Europe, to lodge report with MCMC & go to the NEWSPAPERS...

Just now I checked... I'm downloading with full speed already... however, not just going to say cased closed cause, its still early morning... I want to test out this evening to see the speed...

However, the still didnot change the port nor the IP range... I guess somehow, the rectified the congested international link router i guess...

How bout you guys? any improv on ip 118.100 ?
*
Speaking of which, just as it hit 8am my downloads are back to 3kbs, as well as the constant disconnections from servers etc. 124 right now, can't be stuffed to reconnect to 118. Yesterday night I was able to peak my torrents at 30-40KB/s, then past midnight it dropped to around 10KB/s. Argh

Care to share what sort of new throttling system is that??
*
I have no problems with seeds, it's just the connection to them. The connections are there but the packets are blocked. I'm thinking they are either doing deep packet inspection because even my ssh encrypted traffic is being throttled. Who knows, maybe now they implement sandvine, though I doubt it. Perhaps they are blocking burst connections, ones that make a burst of tcp connections to hosts which is the norm for p2p. Perhaps they have just throttled speeds as a whole and only given priority to http traffic until the technicians get back from Ramadhan. I can't even update my antivirus or my operating systems because of this. Well that one is more due to their crappy routing. Time will only tell. Those people on vpns get good speed probably because they are in an unthrottled area, not due to the vpn because other people which are not on a vpn are still able to get good speeds with their torrents, though there aren't many who mention here (most likely cos they have nothing to complain about). Can't wait till the throttling is lifted.

heh, once it hits 8am it throttles hard and disconnects my other currently open active tcp sessions [ssh, irc, etc]

TM has successfully managed to throttle BitTorrent. Over the past couple of days , I'm getting 0 Kb for peers and at most it can go is around 2 Kilobytes/sec.
*
That's not the only thing they've managed to throttle lol. They have basically killed off my net experience totally. Everything is affected, can't even do simple updates. Oh well heh

Too bad for you, got slow connections, hey, if you got lower ping, means you get better connections man, lower ping means higher speed you will get, man, you're really outdated...
*
Lower ping does not necessarily mean higher speeds *especially* if they are blocking or throttling specific traffic from a certain destination. The low ping just tells you the latency between you and them, which means yes, you *would* and *should* get higher speeds, but all that doesn't matter if the traffic or protocol is being throttled or shaped.

Yeah, I know lower ping don't mean get higher speed, but say, depend on your luckiest...
You cant predict speed in Malaysia, because not all place have good speed and ping...
Not all Streamyx connections are created equal....
*
Well, I am just curious as to how exactly luck fits into that equation. I for one would love an elaborate explanation on that one heh.

tmnet speed depends on ur luck. he is right. some places the line is capped at 4mb, sum are capped at 1.5mb. and ur area maybe neared to the xchange station, some mayb far. n some area they start xperimenting using adsl2+ which means faster speed. n depends on ur luck, sumtimes u get 'good' ip for gaming or youtube.

i myself, my line is capped at 4mb. i subscribe 1mb line. i get max speed of 280kb/s when http download. which is almost 3mb line already. my snr margin is high means im nearer to the xchange station. so im lucky.

my fren on the other hand, stay in Kuchai Lama. he subscribe to 1mb line, which the line is capped at 1.5mb. he says max he always get is 90kb/s got http download. a normal 1mb line will get up to 120kb/s. which he claims he never get. n his snr margin is low, means his house to the xchnage station is far. thus it xplains the speed. so he is unlucky.

another forumer reported he get 8mb for subscribing 4mb package. cuz tmnet had installed adsl2+ for his area. n mayb forget to capped his speed. (how i wish i stay at his area.) so he get blazzing dwld n upld speed. n he is freakingggggg lucky. mam, damn it.

about the ip. i realize, 60.49 ip's are good for gaming but bad for streaming. somehow i cnt stream utube with tht and 60.48.
but 60.51 and 60.53 i can watch any video at blazzing speed. imagine i download stuff at full speed n my utube stil buffer full like 1 min for a 10 min plus clip. dats fast. n dat depends on luck. sumtimes no matter how i reset the modem ill never get 60.5X ip.

so yeah it depends on luck. (: hehe.

shoot me if im wrong. (:
*
That isn't 100% "luck". Those are physical factors involved with your connection. Being close to the exchange is not "luck". Being close to the exchange means exactly that, you get a better signal for being closer. That is common sense. Luck has nothing to do with that.
Sure, some people are lucky in the sense that their lines are not capped, but that's as far as "luck" goes. Luck is not the determining factor on your "tmnet speed". There are many factors involved in your overall speed, like which ip pool you are connected to, line noise, distance of servers, distance to exchange, etc. Personally, I don't think it has anything to do with luck.

Don't have problem with modem's modulation speed. It reads 1536(DL) 512(UL) everytime I check.

Oh yeah, just read TM's customer care FAQ. Just didn't want to look stupid when I lodge a complaint >.>
Here's what I found, FAQs #39-41.

#39 Will I enjoy fast speed for p2p?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Owh okiee! That means I can use p2p right? RIGHT?!! IT'S GONNA BE FAST RIGHT?!!

#40 Why do I experience slow p2p even though there are lots of peers available
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Ehhh?!! U said TM does not have any control over peers availability, WTH? U blocked 'em! FFS. OHHKAY! JUST FOR PEAK HOURS!

#41 Why TM is offering unlimited packages and at the same time limits the amount of trafic
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

WTF?!! Now I can't p2p?!! U want me to pay for RM88 Just to surf your site right? I mean, WOW!, yours is the only site that can load faster than a lightning! Congrats!

tongue.gif

After reading that, I decided not to file a complaint. Yeah I know, I rant too much. XD

They are a money-grubbing profit-driven self-contradicting scum-sucking monopolising lying bunch. And that's all I have to say bout that hehe. From all of the money they've been making off of us, they should be able to at least upgrade equipment without stressing their salaries, not to mention they should probably allocate some to train their personnel more. At least try to make it the best consumer service before trying to milk the goat to death. It's like beating a dead horse when it comes to these guys. I sincerely wish things change for the better, although this is an unlikely scenario.

124.13.*.* seems to let me torrent at around 20+KB/s after 8am now. A slight improvement over 1-3KB/s that I normally get after 8am using 124.82.*.*
Don't wanna count my chickens before they hatch, but at least this is better than nothing for now. I hope it continues this way without dropping for the rest of the day..

Anyone else on this ip getting the same speed?
