why not straight away buy HD4870? I thinking of getting PowerColor HD4870 1GB DDR5 PCS, said to be super R770 .

BTW, have any of you guys tried installing Mac OS X (hackintosh?)? Is there driver support for the ATI on mac os?

Nice cooler, but still use reference board

When using 4870 gpu with mobo pcie 1.1,is there a lot different compare using mobo with pcie2.0

Take for example same setting but with pcie2.0 compare to pcie1.1 say bench mark is there a lot different, secondly say fps is it quiet significant.

Hi, my HD4870 idle at 80-81c and full load at 87-88c it seem very hot , moreover i did put a 12cm fan blowing in front and a blower sucking out air n still got that high temp. Any ideal to let the temp go lower.

i don think updated is good.
just now updated and make cannot change the fan speed.
the temp around 90'c,Fxxx the  8.7

If you guys having problem with the heat, I really suggest you get Thermaltake HR03-GT as what I can recommend coz personally I used it and I think it is good for the 4870.

I'm getting like 57-59 idle. I use artic silver 5 on it. A Zalman fan on top of the cooler. Non air-con room.

I tried to run the stock cooler for the first time to check whether it can start.. wow.. I'm shock by the noise it make. I still haven't do the profile thing you people mention.

Even the sales guy and a fren also said alot people are changing to stock cooler as it is very hot. Most people are buying Thermaltake Duo Orb for it.

Just reformat the OS... run the vantage.. not working..
The problem for this time even bad... just giving me a Black Screen...
Before that at least having the 1st test loading screen.
DO you means try to remove the 3DMark Vantage or the ICH9R?
If 3dmark.. yeah i tried.

the second temperature really worries me  , can anyone give me a suggestion how cool down that one?

are you using heatsinks over the five VRMs? refer here for VRM location.

now i'm not sure if temp #2 is for the VRMs, but i do know that they do get very hot, and need not only heatsinks but some airflow over them.

I got the same problem, got HIS HD4850 recently and 80*C while idle....

Can burn an egg with that temperature.......    

holy shit temp 2 85c, that is VRM temp. U better make it around 50-60c if not u gonna kill them.

Fan speed at 40% is good enough for my 4870.. Idle at around 55c and load around 60c-65c.. OC at 780/1080..

Fan speed at 50% u can hear the noise d.. But still acceptable.. After that is juz annoying...
