Some Seed Gunplas don't have MG/HG etc etc designation? The ones that if i recall properly have a small figurine of the pilot as well? Am thinking of getting a Strike or a Freedom - the seed series ones and the mg ones got big difference?

get the 50mm. 50mm f/1.8 definitely more useful (and cheaper) than a 75-300 f/4-f/5.6 UNLESS if you kaya raya go buy 80-200 f/2.8
As for the seed gundams - i saw a series which if i'm not mistaken is 1/100. There's a whole bunch of them, but not written HG/MG etc on the box. Around RM99 methinks, how do they compare to say a MG Strike which is around RM178? This post has been edited by madmoz: Jul 21 2008, 12:24 PM |

But at 300mm and coupled with the smallish aparture, you'll normally need a tripod or a monopod, which means surprise factor all gone.
Unless if you have hands of steel. |

from my experience at 400mm and f/2.8 the depth of field practically non existant - my old nikon f90's AF not really up to scratch, wouldn't focus properly

cheap 50mm lens will normally have better optics than a 75-300. But most improtantly what is your other lens? I think Nikon used to have a 55mm f2.8 Macro, capable of 1:2, which should kcik arse when photographing gunpla

kit lens would be around 28-70 f3.5 to f4.5? The i would say skip the 50mm.
Btw, not all expensive lenses are good, and not all good lenses are expensive. If i recall correctly, Tamron used to have a 28-200 f3.5-f5.6 which earned rave reviews. Came in a Canon EOS mount as well. Perhaps they've released an updated version? Added on July 21, 2008, 1:05 pmas for edan, how much did the 80-200 setyou back? a 50mm will indeed complement it nicely. This post has been edited by madmoz: Jul 21 2008, 01:05 PM |

@ temp, skip the 50 f1.8. Go for this one
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0502/05021703...fs60mmmacro.asp or get its older, bigger brother http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews...ens-Review.aspx Both capable of 1:1. Imagine a super duper close up of your gunpla!!! |

the nikkor 80-200 f2.8 is so cheap nowadays!!! Set me back nearly 5k back then. But it is definitely one of the best built lenses (and heaviest too) that i've ever owned...
tip: go buy a monopod |

Hey, old school nikon film types rock. I challenge anyone to find me a more durable and silky smooth to use camera as the Nikon FM-2
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikon_FM2 1/4000 shutter speed with no batteries dude! Batteries were only used for the electronic metering, and should you run out of juice (which is practically never) you could go 1/60 f.3.5 which coupled with push/pull enabled film would serve you well in 90% of situations! I hardly think that people sell Gundams at the RRP. Lik Tak themselves discount their gun pla what, and it is unethical if the sell to the public lower than they sell to their suppliers.
Also, methinks not everybody buys supplies from Lik Tak? |
