Hey guys, just a quick one. Someone bought me the Warcraft Battle Chest since I told her I wanted to start playing DoTa. The package arrived this morning and I hadnt had the time to open it. So id like to ask how do I install DoTa since it doesnt say anything about DoTa on the package. I could try it myself, but I'm about to go for a movie. I will check this thread back at a later time.

DotA is just a map like other custom games. Get it here and paste it in ur C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Maps\Download.

dota cannot and does not need to be installed because there is NOTHING to install

ooo alright2... i have just installed wc3 and its expansion set. im playing through out the story mode just for the sake of familiarizing with the controls. it feels soooo smooth

how old is this game? 3 years?

I thought the purpose of installing Warcraft (some ppl called it DOTA client) is to play DOTA?

i thought since someone already spent $40 for the game i might as well play it. im a big fan of blizzard strategy games anyway.

holding the alt key enables u to see all lifebars

Install your Reign of chaos. Then install your Frozen throne. Your patch should be 1.21. The latest now is 1.22. Then go to getdota.com. Download the latest map. Once dl finish. Go to the file where you install your frozen throne. You will see a file name "maps". Click it and file name "Downloads" and paste the map you just downloaded inside. Next time when you dl file, all the map will go into downloads. So just just use garena,flying spaghetti monster,battlenet or whatever. Use battle net as you are using orginal. And you are ready to play. Good luck and don't be an addict. I was once a dota addict LOL

yeah i just played a battlenet game just now. it was... overwhelming. i was like an uber noob.

somemore it was randon hero selection so i didnt know anything about the hero since i only trained with one hero

btw, you should start with simple heroes that requires less farming. Go with skill based heroes like zeus, vengeful spirit and venomancer.

nah it not. i did google but due to the phrase that i used it didnt come out right. also, i opened the original program over the expansion (TFT) and couldnt load up dota as well...

You should play with ai. It works. Train with ai. Then go for ai+. I say playing with ai+ is much more fun then playing with noobs.

how do i play with AI?

i tried this: single player -> custom game -> choose the dota allstars map -> me against 1 "cumputer (easy)"

but he did not choose a hero. so it was between me and only the critters.

so how?

im from malaysia. it turned me off back when it was released. that's all. i played starcraft and wc2 thoroughly though. dont know why it didnt catch my attention back then. prolly because i was in to diablo2? heh
