All mobile Telcos will have to comply with the MCMC's new directive that they must introduce new prepaid packages with longer validity periods at least 180 days.
Lets just wait for the Celcom, Digi, Happy, U mobile new packages before paying Hotlink RM33 buta buta.

The ad from Hotlink which says that you mush have at least RM33 in your account to subscribe is misleading.

They should be more straightforward by saying that RM33 is chargeable to activate your Hotlink 365 service.
*
If you are looking from Maxis angle, "you must have at least RM33" and "RM33 is chargeable", the former sounds better rather then "charge".
I would say this is the most appropriate phrase maxis must use to lessen the element of charging. If can confuse 50% of the public, then this is a very successful ad champaign.

#david83-thx for the detail explanation.fully understood now! thumbup.gif

Er... sometimes it is nothing wrong to give a comparison between country to country. By knowing what are the mobile packages out side of Malaysia, the consumers can always put forwards complaints by quoting examples from neighbouring countries to MCMC and MCMC will then put pressure to local telcos. I think one good example was the recent directive from MCMC to ask telcos to introduce long validity prepaid packages as Thailand and Singapore already have similar packages since 2007.

You see, if I want to keep my line active for 1 year, I need to pay Digi RM100.  I get poorer by RM100.

If I want to keep my line active for 1 year, I need only pay RM33 to Hotlink and top up another RM30. In total I get poorer by RM63 only.

In this 2 scenario, Digi profit more than Hotlink.

It is very interesting to read comments from different perspectives and different view points from different mobile phone users. Therefore i can't say Digi is better nor Maxis. It all depend on the usage pattern and preference of individual user. I think the argument of Maxis offered lower cost (RM63) to maintain the line for one year for Hotlink users is quite valid.

When Celcom come out with something like "WHO SAY" again , i can make sure Maxis and DiGi cant do any counter for that tongue.gif

From my past observation, Celcom always preferred to counter market competition after Maxis and Digi revealed its packages. Though is slow but the advantage is Celcom can see the opponent's cards first before throwing out its cards. Usually, Celcom will make its package slightly better than Digi and Maxis.

Usually....but you have to read the fine print. They always have fine print. For eg: when they launch who says they have the lowest call rate 0.35sen/min...did they care to mention that it's ONLY for Xpax - Xpax calls ONLY? wherelse Hotlink and Digi maintains one rate to all networks....even if they are 36sen. In the long run, who will you save more with? Dont tell me all your friends and family are only on Celcom.....
*
I think Digi have fine print too. I have had hard time to educate my Digi prepaid friends that their 1st RM30 usage in a calender month is 48cts per min. But my friends insisted the rate is 36cts per min. This show how successful Digi advertisement confused the public. In fact all Telco's ad just published the best deal but hide the tnc in the web site. So i don't think it is fair to accuse Celcom only using fine print tactic.

Just curious how many did actually activate the 365 days promotion?

Share with us your reason of doing so.

I didn't.

I maintain 2 hotlink lines and i hardly put into the phone. some more just need RM5 every 3 months to maintain the line, cheaper than RM65.

About the condition of minimum rm30 top up during the first 6 months,

can we get someone to transfer rm30 to us, then we transfer back to them (via Share-A-Top-Up feature)?
after all that is a valid top up method also right?
then only need to pay the RM33 subscription fee + RM0.50 x2(share a top-up fee)
*
No you can't. Share a top-up doesn't count.

Looks like Celcom still taking its own sweet time. From no.1 telco dropped to no.2 now and with this kind of slowness in market competition, i m not surprise it will drop to no.3.

Guys, Is it mean if I change to hotlink 365 plan, and I didn't reload RM30/month, I'll get RM0.49 calling rate (hotlink to different network) insteed of RM0.39(Hotlink Plan)?  shocking.gif

Good Question. I guess you have to continue to top up RM30 in order to qualify for 36cts.
