It is still trial, once you sing up, they'll give you 60 days trial period. They do ask for your credit card detail when you sign up via www.me.com. That is, once the trial expires, it will automatically ask you if you want to subscribe without the need of entering your credit card details again.
Signing up MobileMe online via Me.com will direct your registration and subscription through Apple Singapore, the price quoted are in SGD148. I still have 5 more weeks on it, so once the trial expires, then I'll have to pay. The experience on MobileMe? There are pros and cons. MobileMe have been pretty unstable lately, since Apple is moving the whole infratructure from .Mac .There are time, it just goes into Maintainance, and other time, I cannot properly access the service. Once you signed up, run Software Update on your Mac. It will replace your .Mac with MobileMe, and you are required to sign in with your username and password you have registered via Me.com . What services does MobileMe offers? Syncing of Mail, Photos, iCal, contacts and iDisk. The first four is synced back and forth to all your Macs, iPod Touches, and iPhones, while the last is like an online storage. I'm currently transferring all my vacation photos to MobileMe, and have set my contacts and appointments on iCal to sync to each other, depending on which connection I have. If I'm out and about in KL, using 3G instantly updates any changes I make on Contacts and Calendar into their MobileMe counterparts. I have not set up my MobileMe @me.com Mail address as my primary mailbox, after reading up on the news that .Mac-to-MobileMe integration is not seamless yet, resulting in missed emails or totally empty mailboxes in MobileMe. Once they sort this problem out, then I'll migrate myself fully into MobileMe. I still have not used iDisk for anything at the moment, because to me, the space is kinda limiting, not enough to store much. Porn perhaps, but I'm not gonna degrade the usefulness of MobileMe with something tacky like that. |

If you dont have MobileMe, the option to sync via "Push" from MobileMe is not available. You will not be able to sync via 3G, only via cables through iTunes.

QUOTE(goldieboy @ Jul 22 2008, 03:17 PM) Hi Stringfellow, sorry for asking too much. I notice that u do mentioned about u have register with itunes US in order to unlock the iphone. I do not know, as I have not tried this.what about the those register under Malaysia? Do you think it can unlock iphone 3g? I unlocked mine using US iTunes, Psyeo uses his NZ iTunes, but the phones are from NZ. If you look at this logically, iTunes is just an instrument for unlocking, and it does not matter which region of iTunes is used during the activating. To be safe, I suggest using iTunes regions that already have an iPhone launch, otherwise a red flag may trigger in Apple HQ about you activating it using a non-launch country and may result in complications later. |

QUOTE(goldieboy @ Jul 22 2008, 03:24 PM) I get your point, but the problem is we couldnt have the address on other country for registration. Use Apple's Cupertino address. If you have any Apple product, Apple's HQ address is somewhere printed on the box or inside those paper manuals.itune need the address to complete the registration. The top ones you see at AppStore are the ones most recommended. The free or the paid ones. People get them because they are good.

Yeah, but at what cost? I kept on saying this to myself, but I never listen: I should stop caring too much, and learn to be more selfish, because caring hurts.
I better stop it there, dont want THIS thread to be sniped at and CLOSED by You-Know-Who. I guess you can the whole Tumpang Thread closure episode a Journey by itself too. Shows the real side of people, and what shades of colour they really are. If it is up to me, I'd do it according to what's the best interest of the common people here, not what's written that may have been irrelevant. After all, if you are the powers-that-be, you have the power to do suppress even the most whiny of those who claim injustice while hiding behind their profit-mongering schemes. Until the "Tumpang" is set and done, this thread will have to be the update outpost for it.
I have a nice little story to tell those keeping abreast of the current moderating crew and its behind-the-scene politicking undercurrents that is veiled from public view here. That will come later once the "Tumpang" runs its course. Let's just say if you're hoping and looking up to these "mods" to be fair and partial for you from the start, you may be in for a major disappointment. But that's later for the result of the Tumpang in another thread to come. Until then, the Journey continues on. Stay tuned folks, what information I'm about to break later will probably change the way you look at those "powers-that be" that you are hoping so dearly to uphold the fairness in the forum. You may be in for a startling re-examination for these "folks". Like they say, "Communism, it's a helluva party!", too bad the common folks here are not invited. |

After NZ, yes, the breaking info will come then.
Unless I get charged with sodomizing someone, and get dragged away commando-style. A simple way to put it, they already have formed an opinion of you, even before you open you mouth, or type a post here. That's for later. The ultimate victory here is for the 15 to get their dreams fulfilled. |

QUOTE(aRRrgghh @ Jul 26 2008, 12:56 AM) String bro, I've just managed to read from page 1 to 20 of this topic while been diverted to other links that You-Know-Who related and the NZ Tumpang is OFF, and I realized it's one hell of a journey! Thank you for understanding. I've already composed an "analogy" post for future posting after the "Tumpang" is done, I cannot wait to see how people will think about the powermongering that's happening around here. "Powers-That-Be" indeed. No matter what, almost everyone here knows and understand your intention. Just don't make your 'qualities' brushed away because of this ya. Btw, your GPS bus video makes me wanted to compare the app with my BlackBerry Curve 8310. It looks better with Aifontriji Wide screen tho =). One question, how's the indoor GPS? How long it will detect when you choose 'Find Your Location' indoor & outdoor? Thanks p/s most of the credit goes to you, for providing me valuable info when I purchased my iPhone last year =) Indoor locations are based only on cellphone triangulations, the blue blip expands into a wider crosshair since positional accuracies gives way towards a wider position ambiguities. Once outside, the blips in pinpoint accurate. It wasnt as long when I had my N95 to get position, the GPS is very fast. When GPS isnt available(you are indoors), the GoogleMaps uses the other two resources, the Skyhook technology from Wifi(extracting position via IP address I presume) and celltower triangulation. Once your under sky cover, the third resource, GPS kicks in. |

QUOTE(munyip7 @ Jul 26 2008, 09:50 AM) I'd like to think it works, but I dont think Skyhook themselves have databased our Wifi hotspots into their system to allow better positioning. I would imagine that for us here, Wifi hotspot triangulations are done by IP address. Cellphone triangulations have worked since the iPhone EDGE days, the cross hair radius size determines the accuracy of the triangulation: the bigger it is, the less accurate it is, vice versa. As for the GPS, it even have different levels of accuracy. I dont know if it is apparent in that video I posted on the first post, but after you get the blue blip, there is a faint blue circular radius around it. The smaller this blue circular radius is, the more accurate the GPS positioning is, instead of being represented by numbers. The first wave of the "Tumpang" folks met me today, I hope you guys are happy with the "solutions" I have provided. Please keep this among ourselves, we dont want to stir up another slew of jealous sellers. Let's show them results instead of just talking here. I hope you guys are okay with the "solution" I provided, and Godspeed to all of us. For the rest of those in the "Tumpang", please arrange a suitable date/venue, and PM me these details, do not post them here. We have to turn our selfish safety switch on, thanks to recent events. To those I'm meeting tomorrow and those on the other dates we've set, I'll see you then. Peace, out. Added on July 26, 2008, 6:10 pm QUOTE(aRRrgghh @ Jul 26 2008, 01:51 AM) Thanks for the reply. Someone told me that NOKIA has around 21 satellites for their GPS while BlackBerry has only 8. That's why NOKIA response is faster. So, this come to a question, how many does the iPhone satellites has? or are they sharing the sats? Btw, the GPS add-on is the reason why I've purchased the BB 8310. I guess I can use the same reason for me to upgrade to iPhone 3G and sell my FW1.1.1 iPhone hehe Read my post before this. Accuracy of GPS in iPhone is determined not by a single source, the GPS, but a combination of sources, GPS, Skyhook Wifi and Celltower triangulation. If you eliminate one of them, it relies on what other sources that is left to determine accuracy. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « To understand how Skyhook Wifi triangulation works, visit www.skyhookwireless.com This post has been edited by stringfellow: Jul 26 2008, 06:10 PM |

I dont know if I have posted it here or the doomed "Tumpang" thread, but to future owners of the iPhone 3G, you may want to set the "Push" feature on MobileMe/iPhone 3G integration to "Fetch" or "Manual Push" instead.
Why? I had the case of spotty 3G auto-updating the Contacts and iCal, only to have it updated half way. The result? All my contacts come up with their names only, no phone numbers, addresses, or the notes tagged to them! Apple have been struggling to bring MobileMe up to speed, so the advice is to stay vigilant and do this manually. Or better still, dont "Fetch" or "Push" at all, but only update your Contacts and iCal appointments when you sync. This may not be an ideal solution, particularly to those on the move, and wanting MobileMe "cloud computing" to work without the need of having to be infront of your Mac or editing massive amount of data on tiny iPhone keyboards, but the way I see it, that's the safest bet. Added on July 27, 2008, 2:50 pm QUOTE(HHCC @ Jul 27 2008, 02:44 PM) Mr Airwolf, Tell that to them, they already won, with my Tumpang in limbo now. They can stuff their non-3g iphones up their arse for closing your thread. Great writing/sharing and really appreciate the effort you put in. Plus cocklea and psyche must be given credit for the contributions. Cocklea and Psyeo, boss. They are the real heroes. Activation is wholly up to you, just as long as you activate it using valid iTunes accounts, preferably accounts in countries that already have iPhones. I used US iTunes account to activate my NZ iPhone, Psyeo uses his NZ iTunes account. Both works.

Yes, Italy does.
But looking at how strong Euro is now, would you like to take that chance? |

I mean, the fluctuating foreign exchange. Euro can easily climb up against other major currencies, and inflates the price (based on RM) further.
That was the reason why I asked for actual NZD currency for my Tumpang, before it was doomed by "malicious forces". |

Yup.
Dont quote me on that though, that info about Italian iPhones being unlocked may be a few weeks old. You need to make sure of that yourself, by researching. I'm sticking with the NZ alternative. |
